The Japanese cover looks way better compare to the American cover :(
I think it's widely accepted that the American cover art is almost Megaman bad without the novelty factor and the Japanese is the art we should all be getting. I don't want to put much hate into a cover because it's really about the game, but Capcom should REALLY be smart and listen to the feedback and drop that art. It's terrible, I don't care if the artist did stuff for the Ironman movies.
Yea anyone who already knows about it will want to buy it regardless of what the cover looks like, but they might lose a few costumers that don't know about the franchise...
At first I was into the Jap version. The colors are more vibrant. The Jap version is too much of a Saturday morning cartoon box art. It gives you a false impression of everybody are heroes. The NA is more gritty. Look how some of the characters are at each other throats. NA have more a adult oriented display then the Jap version. It make you think that Wolverine is a villain and that Dr.Doom and Wesker are in charge of this fight. NA > JAP
They're both okay. The only thing that bugs me about the American one is Morrigan's face.
But at least we're not getting something awful like the US SSF4 cover.
The Jap cover does look lazy, but good. It does look like they just grabed the character in game models and just paste it on to the cover.
The NA version actually has art specifically drawn just for the cover and they put in a lot of effort into it like a comic which ofcourse Marvel is all about.

anyways, i don't care if the game comes with a box that is burned, has cracks, and has holes. i just want the game already =) give me the ugliest box art ever. it doesn't even have to be marvel vs capcom related. i just want the game.
Japanese back cover. Screen shot in bottom left. Have we seen that background before? I thought it was The NY rooftops at first, but it appears to be at night with a really creepy moon.
Why do people care about cover art, it's just a box? But to give an opinion the american one looks better. Obviously more effort went into it, and it portrays the comic book feel they were going for. The japanese one just looks like they pasted on the in game models onto it. Not to mention it looks more like they're teaming up with each other since they aren't facing off against one another. But either way I don't care it's a freaking box, that I'll rarely see since the game we be in my console more often then not.
That's why I'm getting the Special Edition MvC3 because it's box art is 10x better than both of these. Plus it's metal.. Muwahahaha.
To be honest I don't like either of them...the Japanese cover just seems overly vibrant and the American cover stars the bastard child of Sylvester Stalone and Frank West that is Ryu. Thankfully I got the Special Edition...
That being said I don't care about the cover as much as I care about the game itself.
Neither of these look very good, but then again, the SFIV and Super SFIV boxes looked pretty bad too.
They've just been striking out with box art lately.
I honestly dislike both. But if I had to choose, as in put a gun to my head choose, it would be the US one. I can't really say anything positive about the US box-art other than it sucks much less than the Japanese one by a minimal margin.
Capcom should fire the person who green lit the American version WITHOUT ONE Marvel Female...DeeDeeDee
This supposed to be a broad demographic game. The Marvel side w/o any females is gonna turn off females FOR SURE!!!!
And sorry as goofy as she is...She-Hulk is infamous in America. She should have DEFINATELY made the cover! (Curiosity factor)
I still prefer the Shinkiro pieces as well as some of the fan art I've seen before. The Japanese cover, however, is worlds better than the US version.
i like the american front cover more, but there both good. it might just be because i would like the cover to be black and the picture for it has better quality than the japanese cover art
is the back cover art the same? i would like the art to be the same as the back of the japanese one

You are joking me right? I've lived in Japan for about 3 years and the U.S for the rest of my life (born and lived in London for the first 3), and I can be the first one to tell you culture is never "refined" or polished. If you call the salaryman lifestyle refined, the ignorance/racism towards other culture refined, or the overall social problems that occur refined then go ahead. The culture is no more refined than the culture expressed in Africa, or Europe, or NA&SA. Every country has its problems, and Japan has its fair share of them.

I like the American artstyle more in this case. The japanese one, in my opinion, looks lazy and almost a copy paste of character model angels put all over the cover. I don't see the appeal that people have in the Japanese cover.
The Japanese one does look better but, it present matter because the case is gonna collect dust once I start playing.
if only capcom was smart enough to hire an actually marvel artist to do the cover. that guys cant draw women for sh**, hulk looks like a...guy painted green, ryu does not look japanese, viewtiful joe is lulz, the cover is just plain fail. lovely concept though. the japanese cover lacks creativity. it looks bad as well.
They both kind of suck. The Japanese one's CG rips are bland and unimaginative, much like it's light blue background. Overall, it looks too much like a Nickelodeon TV show.
The U.S. one could have been cool, but facial features so different from the actual characters that it's a joke. Why is morrigan suddenly asian? Why is Chun Li have a more masculine face than Dante? Why does wolverine look as if he's hissing like a cat? And what the hell happened to ryu? The worst part is this cover could have been great even with the same artist. Wesker, Chris, and Joe all look solid; and everyone with a full mask looks good too. So...what happened to the rest?

Not that I'm a Marvel fanboy or anything, but if they really wanted to attract casuals who don't know much about games in America, they should make the picture of spiderman bigger or more noticeable, only because everyone in America knows who Spidey is. Also I'm not worried about the bad NA art because the collectors edition comes with a different case, right?
The Japanese cover is SO much better T_T. Oh well, I'll buy it all the same.
Frankly, neither of the boxarts look great to me. But, if this is like the SSF4's boxart, NO ONE is going to care once the game is released.

If you mean by personality, as in awful american street fighter 2 cover, or mega man 9 cover, then ur right.
And if you mean an 11 year old made it .. as an an 11 year old japanese boy had a better creative design then a paid marvel artist or freelance artist then u're also right
I like the jp cover, the american version is so.....creepy. It doesn't even fit on the crossover with all that sh!tty detail.
The Japanese version looks really cheap. Before I even saw the pictures, I knew the majority of you would prefer the Japanese version just to have something to complain about.
I think both covers have their great points and low points but in general they are MUCH better than most. The Japanese cover's artwork is more to my liking but i don't necessarily like the color hue. Plus it is abstracted by so much text and logos, it kinda spoils it for me.
The US/European one is designed in a more Western style which also makes sense. It is nowhere near "bad" as some people say it is and its a shame to criticize it so much, someone went through a lot of trouble creating this artwork and it is much better than the SSF IV one we got.
Idk what is up with everyone sucking japan's d*** on every little thing. I think the American box art is better. The American box art is actual artwork done for the cover as the Japanese box has the in-game character models flying in some blue nebula as their box art. My point is, I think 75% of you people saying the Japanese box art are just saying it because it's "Japanese" and that makes it so "rad" and "hip." Just saying that's my theory, most of you Naruto fans are probably subject to what I'm talking about.

I agree that the character models on the Japanese cover look better, with the exception of Wolverine. He has sort of a Hakan-like grin on his face. As for her nationality being Chinese, Chun-li looks way off on the American cover. She looks like a white woman doing cosplay.
And Japan sh*ts on America once again...
