Here's a blurb about the show from Mike Ross and Gootecks.
Gootecks and Mike Ross are BACK! In this episode we prepare for our trip to Hadocon in NorCal this weekend with a little training session, featuring team member Combofiend! Watch the eternal rivalry between Mike and Combofiend SIZZLE on screen! Be amazed at Combofiend traversing the depths of ONLINE for the first time! Will he succumb to the LAG like all who have come before?
Hopefully people just appreciate the show, instead of that remark that was said about the ps3 online not being as good as xbox.
Gootecks and mike are really coming together and gelling, have great guests and put on good shows FREE of charge. I hope they can get a tv deal, that would be cool if they actually had some funding this show could be a million times even better.
I like the show, but stop blaming online losses on lag. If you lost it's because you got owned, ok?
Lovely. I like how Mike is so intense during his matches, both when winning and losing, and then after the fight the big smile's back instantly.
Also, that Sakura player was pretty impressive that one round.
@CrimsonRelic
I agree with you. I play online PS3 a lot, and I only get bad lag about 1/10 matches. I think people fall back on that crutch too much. You can see your opponent's latency before you enter a match, so you don't have to enter one if they're in the red. It's your call at that point, and your fault for losing.
True True.. It takes skill to be at a high level but even then, sometimes, some matches it just isnt your day. You can never guess all your opponents reads especially online. IN person you can feel them out. You can even see their brief body n hand movement for, lets say, a wake up move. So you can quickly react. Online, ppl do some krazy things. Some SO noob stuff that you dont expect and you get caught. I hope they find me one day online. ;)
Using the XBL>PSN excuse is dumb. I'm positive if you join a Orange/Red match, its f***ing terrible regardless of platform. I think people just want a reason to justify having to pay for online gaming when PS3 does it for free. Plus if you have a garbage ISP then PSN/XBL is garbage too.
XBL is ONLY better in this case because more of the popular pro players are on XBL. That's it. Scrubs...well they are EVERYWHERE
I know this is off the subject, but check this out. It says Cindi Lauper is playing Dazzler's voice for Marvel vs Capcom 3. I think someone is playing games, but who knows could be true.

"your butt hurts much?"

i like thier shows. funny and entertaining.
AND yes Xbox got BETTER server AND Mass players.
IF there is a hacker in PSN online. i guarantee it wont be fix. why do they care in making PSN online more stable or hack free? ... umm they dont.
@20 This one's new too. Crispin Freeman ... Dio Brando (voice: English version) - Dio Brando's from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
I like their approach. Random select so they can save their pride if they get schooled, or expose a scrub if they win. If they lose with their main, it was the lag. Either way, everyone's a scrub except them lol. Makes for good entertainment. I don't know about you guys but I watched it twice.
This is off topic, but who does everyone main?
I main Blanka. He's a really good character and really balanced I think. None of his strategies and mix-ups are over-powered, but they are also really effective.
I'm still learning how to piano and am struggling to finish the rest of his trials. I want to be really good with Blanka. He's the coolest.
I main ken. Yes, I know he's a shoto. And yes, I know we all have to put up with fighting an army of Ryu's and Kens on ranked matches. But I main him because in my opinion, he's a tad bit worse than the rest of the shotos. (besides Sakura, another one of my favorites) So it's more rewarding when I win with him. He's popular, but He isnt top tier or anything.
HELL YEAH COMBOFIEND!!!!! best abel eva, sry juicebox n shiro
I don't get it. It's not that funny, and it most certainly is NOT trolling.
hilarious dude got sklls under pressure what little they seemed to give him "welcome to online" classic.
I don't like that guy Douchebag either! Gotta wonder if he's the reason douchebag's now used as pejorative.
Do love the Excellent Adventures cast.
Incidentally, I find doing ranked matches by playing Arcade with Fight Request on is a better experience than searching for games in Ranked Games -> Custom Search.
Maybe it's more a PSN problem, but when I do the latter there's too many times that no one with more than 1 bar shows up in the result list, and too often the "Unable to join session" message pops up after I did find someone with green bars.
Doing Arcade, I can't select my opponent, but I can train (button mash..) in Arcade while waiting for the next opponent.
(Often enough though, after a ranked match, the next opponent will enter before my Arcade match can even start.)
@12,14,& 15
You guys are kidding yourselves. Lag is a factor, no way around that. Playing in person is 100% better than online, and everyone knows it.
I play on XBL and even then it's weird, I've been in green bar matches that suddenly turn to poop, and in red/yellow bar matches that run smooth enough. It's random as hell. There's just no way anyone will convince me of taking it serious enough to accept any loss on it as 100% my fault.
I'm no top player, but there it is.
Well, obviously we can all trust the judgement of a guy who has nothing better to do than blatantly troll the message boards of a website.
Anyhoo, keep it up Gootecks, Mike Ross! Hope someone wakes up and gives you guys a TV show... then again, studio execs always manage to ruin things like this.
I heard that Ono let go this troll because he would not follow the code... lol
A tip to all the PS3 users, you get a huge difference if you are wired versus wireless especially on the older Phat boxes. I don't think there is much difference in competition ratio-wise between PS3 and XBOX, there just seems to be more people on XBOX hence more good players plus more scrubs to weed through.
I prefer a wired PS3 because first, its free to go online and second, the competition is just as good, if not better than XBOX because you don't have to fight 10 scrubs to get to a decent player.
..and connection is great. Less lag than wireless.
These guys have a deep feel for their links and characters. They are top players. Chances are if you don't notice the difference between online and real matches, you just aren't sensitive enough (ie you're not so huge of a nerd that you can tell even the slightest difference in gameplay). Takes time and ability.
So while it may certainly feel different and be a little off-putting to them, I do agree that it is a little overblown the way they talk lol. I mean they are still good, better and smarter players than most guys out there statistically. When I play a surprise super lag marathon match online, generally speaking despite the hour long chess boxing match it turns into, the better guy often wins. It's rare if ever at all that someone who I can tell is a total scrub actually outplays me in a laggy match. I don't see why I shouldn't expect the same out of these guys; and really, I don't.
Fact is they play random chars all the time in this show, distract each other, have a good time. I know if Ross played Honda all the time, and Gootecks was always Rose/Rog, and Combofiend was Abel/Guy and etc. etc., and we just saw them go online and mess up newbs, it'd probably be the most boring thing ever. I mean tag onto that, that this was a virtually unused PSN account where they were matching into low BP online random people. They are not above posting videos of them getting pwned, there's even an episode where Mike actually chooses Honda (can't remember which) because I think he was getting "bodied" by some other guy. But those were not against online randoms, but actual skilled players who they had set up player matches with (like throwryuken)
The online isn't valid due to "lag" should have restrictions. In the US, that's true. In Japan, people say lag is virtually non-existent...and unless you played there you can't speak for the validity of lag all over the world online.
Lag often does come into my matches....I'd say 3/10 matches, but I lose because I don't practice enough. Lag is favorite to certain characters no doubt, but the gap between skill is always going to be bigger.
Excellent season opener.
