As a bonus, here's a bit of footage mentioned by Lukenessmonster showing Poongko's El Fuerte. Via KingOfTekken6. Note, the audio on this is a bit loud.

"He chooses flash over efficiency"
Agreed..!that's why he is so cool and sadly that's the reason he dont place well..
@ Struggs
Watch the Balrog matches (obviously the first ones I watched)
Instead of killing Balrog (second vid with rog, 50 seconds in), he opts to just continue scaling his combo for a flashier hit count. I've seen this a lot in his videos, where he ignores Seth's highest damage potential to just add an extra 10 hits to a combo.
Some nice ranked matches. I think I've seen some of them on Shin Akuma's chennel though.
Shin akuma only uploads from xbox, these are from psn.
And also I'm quite sure none of us has seen poongko play in tourns with seth recently. This is online play and in online I honestly would rather choose flash over damage. He might be flashy but as you can see in all his videos, almost always the flashy combo ends up killing his opponent.
The 'anonymous reader' was ME, lol I was logged in so I assumed you guys would know who posted the news. To all those who still doubt Poongko he defeated Mago not long ago, beat Infiltration's Akuma in Grand Finals at a Korean tournament and also destroyed Shiro's Abel in a set.
I've been playing around with Seth and this is a great training tool
I can see how his seth has not been in tournaments lately. I am not a pro by any means, but i can tell that his haphazard reset play is a dangerous gamble especially since this game caters to defense and the top tier characters are all charge lol. If you notice, a lot of his reset damage could have been prevented simply by low blocking and keep low blocking. his opponents got jittery and decided to fall for all the resets by mashing whatever move they wanted to come out.
Poongko is only flashy when he wants to be, look at him in this tournament: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiN593...
He does know how to play serious
@ rudiano (15)
That is a Zangief vs Seth
It might as well be Muhammad Ali vs some cancer child.
Besides...he tried to keep his reckless ways up during the first round, and lost. You could tell with the unnecessary FADC that he was struggling on the inside to play a zoning game, instead of his usual reckless style.
He did exceptional against Sagat however.
I like this, atack!! not only stand in defense form, maybe is more dangerous but is more funny than only play in defense like almost all the damn players onlthis is like an adon or fei that atack not only with those pussy safe moves
I agree with the flashy not defensive play
xD
poongko can play serious if he wants, but he knows he's better than most online monsters so he can have fun and be flashy
#15 lol you know he is being serious when he throws more than 1 sonic boom in a round
still best seth, anyone know if he will be @ evo JP? :)))
@ 18
Watch Poongko dismantle Mago then
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn5zkL...
if you're still not satisfied watch him obliterate Shiro
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRz04b...
Who do you guys think has better execution... Sako or Poongko?
I'm not asking who's better. Just who has better execution. These two are f*cking beasts.
Poongko is such a monster. The fact that he can play like 6 or more characters at these extremely high levels is so impressive. Fuerte is such a hard character to play and he does it so well. His Akuma and Ryu are insane as well.
Good sh*t.
Why should "flashy" automatically mean "unable to place well in tournies"??? Thats ridiculous! Just coz he doesnt stick to JUST the basics and do the least amount of moves to kill his opponent doesnt mean he cant play well at tournament level! He's beaten mago and that has to be one of the top players out there! The guy is sick!! People should just give credit where credit is due and stop making unfounded asumptions like "He wouldnt/hasnt place/d well in tournaments because he's flashy!"
'Behold the glory that is the Poongko Engine! Mwa ha ha ha ha!'
Sorry couldn't help myself. It's nice to see someone who can use Seth this well, sure I hate Seth as a character, but I can't deny this guy's skill.
@ScytheWP Poongko plays flashy because it's online and he wants to have fun. If I had his execution skills I'd make combo videos every match if I had the chance. And yes I've seen him lose matches going for the hardest combo with the damage scaled down to like 30%.
He's a tournament regular in Korea, I think he got 3rd place in the last tournament I've seen him in, which I wouldn't call bad placing and I've seen switch his flashiness off for efficiency. This match for instance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGqjEf...
He made a mistake in the first round and paid for it. Afterwards he just played completely solid while mentally destroying his opponent. If you think that's not efficient then nothing is. He's the best Seth out there right now, hands down
LOOL! I rewinded his rape against balrog about 10 times. After a while, the balrog player just stopped pressing buttons mid way through the 32 hit combo. He literally just gave up. This makes me wanna use seth after seeing that, but his character is so lame and not interesting at all, so I'll continue to stick with Makoto
I think in terms of his game being flashy...
...maybe...just maybe it wasn't needed against rog only because it only takes a Buffalo Head into Ultra1 to turn the whole game around...
...However...being flashy also creates a mind game to combat.
It's not like he was being flashy and losing from the very start.
...oop...I just read DarkCyclone's comment...
Totally agree man...you hit it in one!
"It might as well be Muhammad Ali vs some cancer child."
That made me chuckle.
Poongko's execution is so sick man. I reckon he'd do pretty well in tourns.
@#42
You'd kick someone for their character choice?
Cringe-in ell
This gets me more excited about playing the SF characters on the Tekken X Street Fighter engine. The dude is definitely a beast with Seth but every video relied on the same setup and combo mostly. Maybe its the character or just the game itself, but the more pro SSF4 videos I watch, the more I see how limited the setups and combos can be in comparison. Still doesnt kill the fun factor of playing SSF4 tho'entirely.
So many people always talk trash about the big flashy combos in matches, when you could have been more efficient and caused more damage with less hits. However, big flashy combos can really throw your opponent off their game and make them crack. So while it may not be best in terms of damage, if it leads to your opponent throwing out a stupid move or whatever after the combo ends, then I say go for it and make them crack!
I know why casuals don't use him, and it's not the low stats: he's a temporary character. He gets killed at the end of the game, so why spend time mastering a character who's not going to be in the next instalment when you could get halfway decent with Ryu who's in EVERY game?
DAMN!!! that BOXER player was part of a COMBO VIDEO and he didn't even know it! XD
wow, I would rage quite every game against that Elf. Actually I'd rage against his Seth also.
@47 has a good point.
Also even though his combos look flashy none of them are as hard as they look. Seth only has two one frame links: close st.HK > cr.mp which he doesn't even use (he does close st.HK > cr.lp > cr.mp)and st.lp > cr.mk which doesn't feel like a one frame to me.
hmmm... i think people need to remember that even though a character might be similar in different installments people dont stick with that character all the time. i use vega in SSF4 and hdremix but not any of the alphas or cvs2. but thats just me :/
Poongko fell the F off. He won 1 tourney early in SF then got consistently bodied afterwards. He's only good at doing combos on noobs online.
i don't know why people think when you beat mago or daigo couple of games, that means they are at mago or daigo level. I can find many video of Mago and Daigo losing to random players online.
But i have to agree his Seth is top tier. I'm not sure if they can handle all the jp pros.
Mago and other jp pros went to korean and beaten them all at SF4. then later this year at SSF4. First place mago, second place momochi, third kindevu.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTjP5e...
Damn Seth is such a beast, I wonder why no one uses him..
