I am a tard, b/c I never knew about NegativeEdge :/
I'm upset that the notorious "DF, DF" shortcut is still being taken seriously. Come on guys, we're better than this.
In short, the shortcut doesn't exist. A "DF, DF" motion will never allow you to perform an uppercut. The trick is that, while inputting a "DF, DF" motion, you usually (and accidentally) hit either F or D as well. The end result is a motion that does allow an uppercut.
In other words, that shortcut doesn't even exist, so quit telling people it does. Likewise, I'm pretty sure he got the 360 shortcut wrong too (wouldn't you only need to roll your stick from 6 to 7 [keypad notation]).
@Chun_Lis_Boyfriend
Trolling on this website is not allowed, nor is calling people "f@gs" or generally being a jerk. I've zapped some of your comments on this story and also I've flagged your account. One more violation, and you're banned.
If you're bored, you can figure out something productive to talk about instead of being negative. It's OK if you have a less than popular opinion about something, but being a jerk about it isn't.
[Edit] While I was typing this up or soon after, he violated the rules yet again, so his account is toast now.
Also, to everyone replying to someone's post number, I'd recommend replying to their name instead. Because comments are sometimes deleted on stories, the post number will no longer make sense if this happens.
You're not required to do this, but it helps other people follow the dialogue.
Sweet! Chun Li's single again, i have a chance now :D
Wow, that first video (chapter 8 part 1) is incredibly inaccurate. Their explanation of how shortcuts work is off, their shortcuts are (by consequence) not the most accurate, and their execution demonstrating the examples is off. If you want an actually good explanation of the game's mechanics, EH has it: http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2010/...
As for negative edge, using it for faster execution is not something I hear very often. It's used typically to improve link accuracy (possibly, but not necessarily, combined with piano execution).
These tutorials are more for teaching people who never touched sf before. I knew when making the tutorials that the shortcuts weren't exact. Since these guides aren't official and I don't advertise it in any way I try to teach in the easiest way I can.
I added the eventhubs link into my discription. Thanks lelento for pointing that out.
@Existant - Yeah I annoyed myself actually with that. High quality mics can do that. I'll lower the volume next time didn't think anyone would notice.
i know what neg. edge is but what i want to know is, if theres a way you can neg.edge and grab or OS grab at the same time. example...blarogs turn punch requires you to hold all three kick (or i think its punch) buttons. now if i were to hold all three kick buttons and someone tried to throw me can i just press jab and i will tech it or...no
@#21 Vesperarcade
I still think D3v's explanation (the EH guide) would fit better, even for newbies. Not that your video will prevent people from achieving these motions, but D3v's way allows people to even come up with shortcuts that weren't explicitly mentioned. For instance, I find F,DF,F and DF,D,DF both way more useful in real situations than the supposed DF,DF. I've seen people doing DF,DF, and they nearly always do it much slower than they'd do any other motion, as they try to perform an explicit pause in neutral state between the two diagonals and often won't associate that you can press punch at the same time as the second direction.
Wow, I love these. I always learn something new! :D
