It's just a guess,C. Viper works for Seth and it may make sense to the Story line; which is why it's possible for him to be in the game.

Viper's cool and all, but why-o-why her for mvc3? She plays like Cap Commando (cept hes cooler), so if shes in it than hes probably not gonna make the cut.) There are many cooler sf characters than her to be in this like guile, zangief, dhalsim, abel, ibuki, makoto, cammy, Q, fei long, remy, akuma/ken/gouken/sakura/sean (no more than at least 2 shotos from sf in this game), alex, yun/yang, cody/guy (id rather like them to rep final fight), dan, and charlie. Anybosy wantnto add someone else besides elena, hugo, rose, and rufus?

Capcom doesn't reuse the same out of game artwork (that I'm aware of anyway) for characters. In game is a different story, i.e. Morrigan's sprite.
That said, their out of game artwork often looks VERY similar. Characters strike the same poses and often don't look terribly different from game to game.

Hard to tell the rest, but it could be possible 3 new silhouettes. One could be Hsien- Ko or Dononvan "look by the blue diamond and the other could be Albert Wesker. I think Wesker will be revealed in September if he's in.
C. Viper's head could be the Green guy from Plasma Sword the Prince, but I think it's obvious that it's possibly C. Viper. If it's her she's the first Capcom villain.

I don't know while the siloouett is uncanny why would they use SFIV art? All art in MvC3 is new and I know all the art for every character is finished cuz they said the characters are finalized.

I look at the silhouette, then at the artwork, then at the comments of people saying that there's no way it cold be C.Viper... then I wonder if those people are either partially blind, in denial, or posting from in a coma.

Other notes, that first silhouette doesn't match any of Doom's Art work, that hooded cape has a point on the back, it reminds me of Taskmaster.

Why would they use the old Dormammu look on that page?
They already had the finished game model, the Long Episode One trailer has already came out.
They even had the Wheel silhouette done at that point.
Same thing with Doom, why suddenly use that piece of artwork? It's not indicative of Doom at all. He's not one to pose bent over, Doom's artwork has him stand tall and stoic, he's the ruler of a nation.

I am almost certain it is Dormammu's hand, either that, or Super Skrull's hand, if you people noticed, you can't find him on the picture (I am sure he is hidden somewhere though), and the whole stretching argument would make sense. I say this because, if it was in fact her, that would make unbalance on the silhouettes (if you noticed she would be the only one without a rival, and Capcom wouldn't let that happen).

It makes sense to include C. Viper. She's a lot like Captain Commando who was very popular in MVC2, give her a bunch of Commando style moves, an awesome assist, his big laser column super move and there you go.
It's a great way to appease fans of SF4 and MVC2 fans. You get the best of both worlds because Commando wasn't popular enough to include again, but you keep his play style with Viper.

Actually Captain Commando is better than C. Viper, they have the same type of powers electric and fire, but Captain Commando has a different play style. It wouldn't surprise me if he was replaced, but that would be a bad move. I would assume their excuse to replace him is because of those characters he summons to assist him, but still he could do without those characters, but be given an extra move. Would suck if he's not on, but wouldn't be surprise if he's not in the game like I wasn't surprise with Cyclops.

I beg to differ, the fact that Commando was popular in MVC2 would make his fans angry when they know he got replaced by C. Viper. I am saying this because I don't like the idea at all, especially since he was a veteran since the first MVC, and getting replaced just because there is another character that is newer and similar to him would just not make him justice at all.

The extension from the "Drop" is thinner than Dormammu's collar in that picture, and the width of it is actually uniform, unlike the collar. The Drop doesn't look anything like that flame head or the revealed version's head.
The thing is, in silhouette, Dormammu and Super-Skrull don't use the flame effects, that is only used in the reveal art, and that "flame/drop" doesn't match either one, or that poster.
@51 Again, this a very odd silhouette choice for Doom, no other piece of art of Doom uses this pose.
The hunched figure appears to be thinner and smaller than Doom, too.
Taskmaster doesn't really need to use a sword and shield, he can copy other people's fighting styles.

This one has the center covered but you can see rest of the image clearer, as you can see, that's Frank West.
These two halves of the same image have two easily recognized, unrevealed Capcom characters (C.Viper, Frank West)

It's all very odd.

I would hope Captain Commando is in if not there needs to be a petition for him at least. Viewtiful Joe is the only "typical" type of super hero keeping Captain Commando in would add another Capcom typical superhero similar to Marvel heroes. I wished they made the trailer with both Captains fighting also- Captain Commando and Captain America would of been a more epic fight for both sides to collide.
I still believe the leaked list is still correct, but if this is true to be C. Viper and if Silver Surfer shows up before September 1st, then I would say the list is a fake.

The silhouettes generally reflect the character promo art, and almost all of them have them in new poses, so why would viper be stuck in her SF4 art pose, at least from the neck up, also I believe that morrigan is the one next to her so it could be a wing tip over her. But that is just me :P

I hate how this community wants everything but fighting characters in a fighting game... I mean, some people are bitchin that Viper got in and Arthur from a frigging nearly-20-years-ago game didn't? Really? At least bitch for good characters to get in, like Ryu from Breath of Fire 3, or Blur from BoF 2, someone from Dino Crisis, Strider, the list goes on. We don't need any more stupid and uninteresting characters like Crapful Joe or Lame Arthur.
The cast selection right now is so bad with the exception of Dante that I almost wish this would've been a Marvel Vs Street Fighter game instead.

For those who like Captain Commando,and Strider I'd say we should petition for them to be in. If Phoenix Wright can get tons of supporters why not these two awesome characters!!! I'm not sure that's Viper silhouette, but if you think about it, it does makes sense to include her in MvC3 because you need at least one character representing SF4, which only can be one of the following: Abel, Viper, Fuerte, Rufus, Seth, Juri and Hakan. Now, the coolest of them all and the one that lends itself better to a vs. game for her flashy combos and style is C.Viper hands down.

actually C.Viper and Captain Commando play completely different and also have their own original moves. There's more difference than similarity. The only similarity is they both use Fire and Electricity and even the fire kick move is actually different. We don't know for sure if he's in or not because it's not confirmed--stay tuned!!

Nope, Chun Li and Ryu have been in all SF and VS games since SF2 and I don't care what Wikipedia says, they're using their classic outfits not some SF4 exclusive ones. You still need a SF4 only character i.e., Abel, Viper, Fuerte, Rufus, Seth, Juri or Hakan.

I can't stand C.Viper. She and a small handful of other characters in Street Fighter have no real cultural or ethnic roots that they represent. What I originally love about Street Fighter was its representation of various fighting styles and traditions from all over the world. Characters like Rufus and C.Viper are ridiculous. At least Hakan is rooted in an actual fighting style.

Its obvious that Capcom is putting Viper in because she'll keep some of the focus on SSF4 after MVC3 and MK9 actually comes out. Sure her high jump fits in MVC3 but she's gonna have to have way more moves than she has now. Its looking GRIM for M. Bison, Ken OR Vergil to make it in now but Wesker just might. Don't get your hopes up too high for characters you want to see in this game because the fans are the minority in this department. The biggest fan service of this game that it is ACTUALLY coming out. The fans have NO affect on which characters are in the game this time around so just enjoy who we get to see. ENERGIZE lol jk

Capcom has said that their character selection for this game is heavily biased towards series with either newly released or upcoming titles. C. Viper is a perfect example of this, and unfortunately means Captain Commando probably won't be joining, and I'll eat my hat if they don't include at least one more SF4 newcomer. My money is on Abel, Seth, or Rufus (I hope not)
The same could be said about marvel, as Deadpool was in Wolverine Origins and has his own movie coming out etc.
I see MVC3 as one big advertisement, so I try to think about that when attempting to guess future character reveals.

but i believe everything else you said. capcom is totally leaning to newer games, amaterasu's in there and what do you know, okamiden is coming out soon. i hope, and would not be surprised to see Radd Spencer in here because of rearmed 2 coming out, and because of rearmed and the next gen bionic commando game.

It's pretty funny how many people are using personality and seniority as pros for having certain characters in. If being a long running characters is a good quality then bring on the Ryu, Ken, Dan, Akuma, Sagat, and Sakura fireball, uppercut, advancing kick move crew. Chris's personality was forgetable and people like myself think it would be fun to see Rad Spencer and Arthur who just so happen to have little personality to share.
Maybe we should like characters based on how they would play in MvC3 and if they already have someone that does their job (as few clones as possible for a more diverse and exciting cast). Which brings me to Viper. What a brilliant move. A character with a very flexible move set that can do some nasty rushdown and be effective from many areas on the screen. A perfect fit for the MvC style.
Being open minded about characters you didn't ask for can lead you to some pleasant surprises.

c.viper is one of the harest characters to deal with in the right hands...i think her moves will translate well and all the people that are so salty will forget they even posted somethin negative about it........when the game comes out if you dont like her dont use her...i mean i never use cyclops in mvc2 cuz i think hes corny but he still a pretty good character.

Also the only similarities between Captain Command and Viper are aesthetics (glasses, electric punch, burning kick, a few moves that operate very differently seem to have similar motions). Captain Commando's burning kick was a gap closer that had no cross up potential and the trajectory certainly couldn't be changed via jump timing. His captain corridor was the ultimate anti air Viper has a mediocre (at best) anti air electric upper cut (HP thunder knuckle) and corridor may look the smallest amount like seismo but I don't feel comfortable even comparing those two (one is an invincible bottom to top of the screen anti air the other a low hitting instant attack which could be compared to a fireball in purpose, but it is also a good combo move). Captain commando had a full screen straight shot beam attack that could eat other fireballs. Once again nothing like anything Viper has. Captain Commando's supers are so different than viper's ultras/super it doesn't need explanation. Captain Commando could summon other members from his team to do assist attacks which is so the opposite of any character in SSF4 it makes me chuckle that I even wrote this much.
Maybe it is cynicism talking but I am willing to bet big money all the people who say they are the same are the same ones who said Gouken and Makoto were too similar before SSF4 came out. The thing is, many don't want SF because they already have their own fighting game, while there are many other characters Capcom can pick up from, and rest assured, there ain't gonna be any more shotos, Niitsuma clearly stated he didn't want characters that play similar (hence the reason many don't want Viper seeing how he plays similar to CapCom), with hardly the exception of Gouken, and still, it would be overkill adding him since they have the SF4 rep already covered.

Ur words have meaning...HOWEVER sf still needs its representation. Especially sf4. Viper plays like no one else in the sf universe so adding her is no foul at all. Just another dynamic character added to the roster to make the game viable and full of options. Its a universe crossover so obviously the most well known of the universe is gonna be well represented.
Since SF4 is the latest incarnation of the series you obviously had to expect someone from that game(although I was praying gouken made it in :(

Well if there's a blend of old and new. I'd better see a Monster Hunter damn it lol. I believe it has a decent a following to warrant representation. Same thing with Lost Planet. Bring back ptx(they can scale him down) or put in something different perhaps. Maybe an akrid or perhaps a snow pirate. I think they would end up similar to chris even though they have differences. I'm not sure about Bionic Commando or Dark Void lol.
And please bring back Strider and Jin.
Though seems like a good fit for mvc3. I still believe she won't be able to handle most situations. That's just me though. Even her burn kick shenanigans won't help thanks to tech roll. Just thinking of what may happen. We'll have to see how she's tweaked for the game.

C.viper is a good character she's just a threat to Captain Commando's spot to be in the game.
Just my opinion, Capcom should keep all of the favorites in the game from MVC 2 which is not even close to 1/4 of the characters, but didn't they say that only 1/3 would be new and 3/4 would be returning characters? As for now there's actually more new characters if you count the silhouettes. So who knows, until Niitsuma say Captain Commando is not in then we'll know for sure. Plus we can't really say who want be in because of a character showing up or who would be until we see the confirmation. Well hopefully Captain Commando is down-loadable if he's not in the game starting out. I bet they know that Captain Commando is a favorite so I guess we'll see.
I would hope someone else is revealed with Silver Surfer than C.viper.Gill would be nice.

What's wrong with Viper being in...? And for those wondering how her moves would stack up against everybody else in the game, please keep in mind that starting in X-men vs Street Fighter, the Street Fighters moveset was GREATLY EXAGGERATED (i.e. Ryu's shinkuu hadoken, chun's kikosho, etc.) so they would match those of the X-men. And it's been that way all throughout the series. Viper will be fine! Stop crying!

@167: That IS Chun-Li's style from SF IV (they just made her legs shorter), they can't just easily copy & paste characters that have appeared on TvC onto MvC 3 because TvC & MvC 3 uses totally different engines. Look at Morrigan, for example. Why do you think that one of the videos being shown for her Level 3 super didn't exactly hit Chris? Refer back to that.
Also, to all the whiners out there, that IS C. Viper, & she's most likely going to be in this game, like it or not. Captain Commando has appeared in MvC 1 & 2, & Namco x Capcom. Let's not forget that he has 3 other helpers besides him, & that it'll take Capcom a LOT of time just to redesign all four of them.
C.Viper is like an alternate to him in every way possible.

You should think twice before doing tour bets: Hobgoblin? Taskmaster? It's no way, they are absolutely secondary characters and their presence in the final roster has no sense and you know it.
Don't look for new characters in this image because you won't find them. They are showing the current ones.

Having a hard outer shell with a gentle internal personality is endearing, like Makoto. Being extremely passionate for the things you do is endearing, like Rainbow Mika. I don't get why people bitch so much about "clone" characters. Most fighting games have characters who are related somehow. It actually adds depth to the game's storyline that one or more characters are related somehow, be it by blood or by sharing the same master.
Nobody bitches about Zero having an X-Buster, yet he doesn't play like MegaMan at all. Why do people bitch about Akuma and Ken having similar moves to Ryu, if they don't play alike at all?

Sweet, cute and adorable are gender stereotypes, mostly present in animes or in 50's show rather than real life. Real women these days are anything but cute and sweet. There's nothing adorable about shallow characters that mimic outdated stereotypes. And certaintly not contradictable stereotypes such as cute, sweet and naive girls who can kick ass.

Will thunder canceling pressure strings be her equivalent to a typical CapCom pressure string? I'm just trying to find some sort of reason to give her a shot. I'm just not getting anything. It's possible she could be better but, I'll just wait for official news.

For all you prats complaining about the abundance of SF characters, try thinking from the business side of things.
The only reason we're seeing a new MvC game is because of the resurgence in fighting games as of late. Which owes a lot to the SF4 series.
So while Capcom is making this game to appeal to older MvC fans, they also hope to grab the attention of the casual fans that picked up and got hooked on SF4.
So it may not be a move some of you like, it is a smart business move, and Capcom is all about smart business moves.

Even after ignoring your very obvious bias, calling me stupid for my opinion just cost you all your credibility. I like C. Viper and Rose, Cammy and Ibuki are alright, and the other girls are meh, IMO. That said, I don't hate any of them. I started SF with SF4 (which I'm sure you'll say makes me "stupid"), so I don't have any nostalgia. This allows me to safely say that Sakura is completely boring (IMO, once again). Oh wow, she idolizes Ryu, HOW ENDEARING. Also, considering how I'm not interested in women, it's not very likely that Viper's chest is why I like her.
All I can say now is that I hope Viper gets in, just because it'll make you unhappy. :)

I think the same way as you, on that one, capcom makes great games and all people do is complain as a matter of fact i find it really really rude towards capcom. But really i trust capcom to make good choices i cant remember a time i was disappointed with a capcom game so much that it actually made me want to not play the game. To me i dont think C.Viper is a good choice on capcoms side but i trust they know what they are doing with their games so im not going to complain about it, maybe the rest of the community should do the same and show some respect to capcom.

Cute and sweet are not gender stereotypes at all, women are most commonly portrayed as shallow fashion snobs with no sympathy at all for any men. If anything Viper encompasses negative stereotypes far more than any other female character in the entire series, throwing your idiotic argument out the window. You can say Paris Hilton is realistic, that's not really a compelling argument for your case because nobody likes Paris Hilton. Whether or not a character has a "realistic" personality has absolutely no bearing on whether they are good or even likeable.
Viper's not realistic anyways. No one is as much of a vacuous money-hoarding whore as she is. If women are like her then we should all kill ourselves right now, I'd hate to live in a world where bitches like Viper are common.

@216 SF4's depiction of the characters are not really the same as they were in past games, for example Cammy was more energetic and Sakura just seemed much stronger in Alpha. So yes, every time you speak on this subject you are speaking out of complete ignorance, and that's just a fact. Sorry to break it to you.

I'm glad to see Viper's getting more reps. I cant wait to see how her MVC incarnate plays. I hope they let her fly, that would be awesome!
