Capcom's Christian Svensson jumped into the mix to clarify some things about Marvel vs. Capcom 3 recently. Some people assumed that the respective companies had complete authority over who ended up on their side of the roster, but Christian cleared up this matter.I heard Marvel has 100% say so over the characters that show up on their side in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, is this true?
Svensson: Character selection on both sides has been collaborative. Marvel doesn't have 100% say over the Marvel characters we've selected, nor do we. The roster was jointly and collaboratively selected by both companies.
Will there be more than one girl character on the Marvel side for MvC3? Right now this is a total sausage fest.
Svensson: Bacon > Sausage.

Let's just say that Marvel has more say than Capcom. The reason that it took over 11 years to make a new game (and also the reason MVC2 prices for the PS2 game skyrocketing - because Marvel didn't want to renew the license) That's why PS2 game copies were over a $100 at one point, no agreement = no $$$. It's that simple.
Capcom can turn anything nowadays into a good fighting game, so don't let them fool you because characters is what Marvel is all about! So yeah, Capcom can "discuss" what they would like to see but Marvel is the end-all decision maker. And this is coming from someone who has been on both sides of the business.

All I want on the Marvel side is Storm, Squirrel Girl, and Psylocke. And even though Okami is probably my favorite game ever...I do not want any more Okami characters in. How about some more less popular but fitting characters to MvC3 like C. Viper or Urien? I'd like Sakura in too, she's the best SF character in MvC2, if that counts for anything. Just no more shotos like Ken, Akuma, Sagat.
Capcom needs to stray away from using Street Fighter characters to make the game more unique and rich. I don't want to see over 10 different Street Fighter characters like the last one. I am happy that they only have (or revealed) Ryu and Chun Li and see that is enough. So this will let in more opportunity for more popular Capcom characters to be in this.
didn't capcom publish god of war? do they have some rights to kratos? i mean if dante's in, then might as well put kratos

God of War was published by Capcom only for the Japanese release. The worldwide release was published by Sony Computer Entertainment. And this was the case only for God of War 1, 2, and Chains of Olympus. The new God of War 3 and Ghost of Sparta are published only be Sony Computer Entertainment.
The God of War games were mainly developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Studios Santa Monica. I don't think God of War characters could represent Capcom in a VS series game since they actually belong to SONY LOL.
Capcom's involvement in the God of War Series is quite limited so I guess they don't have that much rights towards the God of War characters. But yea Kratos vs Dante would be cool LOL.
im down with what wolfstone said, a color edit mode would be cool. some colors in mvc2 were just so ugly like cyclops in the grey and green outfit (partner b)

Son Son was based off an old game and think about it, that's not that far fetched with any of the original MVC2 characters when you think, it's capcom and Marvel...They have a succubus, a dictator and a nearly useless robot goon, fighting against a guy who was frozen in ice for years, a robot designed to destroy half of the marvel side of the cast, and an intergalatic being with a hard on for death....Amigo and Ruby heart fit right the hell in

as far as marvel females, i couldn't care less. just not elektra. and as far as xmen, gambit, magneto and storm are the only ones i'd think would be in it.
just give me venom and/or carnage and I.... well i was going to buy it anyway... well i'd be overjoyed.
and for okami characters, they doesn't need to be any more, except maybe a chibiterasu or susano cameo for a victory or something. i just want issun to talk so amaterasu can have some dialogue. have him say, "let's get psyched up!" or "leap before you look!" before a fight and some special dialogue for dormammu and thor.

We have sf4 for those characters...MVC3 maybe Capcom's only chance in the next couple of years to introduce some brand new blood on a larger scale...
save those characters for tekkenxSF and 3rd Strike Revamp(Akuma anyway)...

@46: we have tonnes of occasions to play with SF characters. Capcom has so many characters that it would be unfortunate to stick to the same characters that we already play in SF. Is it not refreshing to have unique guys like Amaterasu, Dante, Trish, Chris and V.Joe in a fighting game? Save the SF characters for SFx TEK and TEKxSF.
@49: NO CLONES PLEASE. so far the cast is varied and it should stay that way. Ryu is in, other Shotos are out. Iron Man is in, War Machine is out. etc...

No, it isn't. MvsC2 was the best selling game of the series and it wasn't for their originality or balance, but for their vast selection of franchise favorites.
People like you who want originality for the sake of originality are ruining capcom's revenue. A bunch of john does don't sell. Fighting game fans do not play every single capcom game out there, nor they should. They're unfamiliar with half their cast.
I would like a no assist/1 on 1 mode. What's wrong with wanting to try out Wolverine or Thor without the standard hijinx? It's not like these characters exist in some other game.
It could open so many windows too. Even if the game turned out to be hideously unbalanced with standard 3 vs 3, maybe no assist mode would look totally different. If there were a division with something like it in MvC2, maybe we would have gotten to see some high level competition without it being the same 7 or 8 characters every time.
@54: How am I ruining Capcom's revenue (as if I single-handedly had the power to do so) given that so far, they seem to agree with me? So far the cast is varied. Anyway, that's just my opinion. At 1st Capcom said that we would be blown away by the number of characters on disc only to reveal that their aim was around 30+ characters, much less than MvC2's 52. The few spot that we have left shouldn't be wasted with clones/filler characters.

people keep underestimate elektra she owns and she sexy. now squirrel girl is okay but she never been in one movie or cartoon show. as far i'm consder elektra is known to be one of marvel top females killers. yes chun-li is consder the strongest femles in the capcom series but i bet elektra would own her.
^ She died and came back,she's been trained by the hand put her live action flick sucked lol still she can be made into a cool character into this game hopefully. I also am aware Emma frost is a no but dlc could happen plus she's in the xmen-first class flick next summer

Much like She-Hulk who's not a strong as her cousin but is very intelligent so she could use high tech equipment and not just be a moveset clone of her cousin
I don't think it's unreasonable to have a lot of Street Fighter characters, as long as they don't include a bunch of similar characters, like shotos and all. And obviously Capcom isn't stupid enough to make them take more than half the roster or something like that.
But whatever. Hopefully Chun Li gets replaced in the roster by Ono cosplaying her.
They better put Sonson in it...After they finish picking all the characters, Capcom should have an art contest for the ones who's favorite characters didn't make it..For one final chance :)
chun-li is staying and Sektah84 u kno elektra got a chance to be in mvc3 than squrrel girl bez she been in more games and she a badass so dont be surprise that squrrel girl is not going to be in. also a lot of marvel characters have to go through something to become a beast and i can name a lot ppl that did. but i'm not going to argue i hope ibuki makes it. she's better than c.viper.
