LowLandLions.com has an interview with Ryan "Prodigal Son" Hart, following his 2nd place finishes at Super vs Battle 20-X for Super Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. 3. We all know Daigo. and we know how good his execution is, but in the match we saw him drop combos with Cammy. Was he nervous?
Ryan Hart: No, I can't really imagine Daigo being nervous. For Daigo, I'm just some random guy who is only good in Europe. He has no reason to fear me, in fact I don't even think Daigo knows I have been around for decades and that I've won loads of tournaments around the world. So him not thinking I'm anything special works well for me, it allows me to surprise him which I have done time after time again. When he plays Justin, he knows who Justin is, and that Justin is the US's hope, courage, strength and knowing that strengthens Daigo in the match.
I just think his Cammy was rusty, he missed links which he shouldn't have. Alioune (Cammy master) spoke to me about the match and told me that Daigo was trying a link that doesn't even work on Ryu. This shows a lack of experience/knowledge on Daigo's part. I just don't see why he'd rather use a rusty Cammy over his expert Ryu even if he was trying to counter pick my Sim. I take that as a small compliment in any case. *laughs*
Thanks to Cheech Wizard for the tip.
europe has some serious good competitors. the well known sf4 world (which is us + japan) is just not known of that fact. no regulary big tournaments + streams, language barrier etc. but the community has to adept that europe is not behind the us and can compete on high level play (ofc pro level wise, not everyone ^^). I'd like to see more of them at evo or another world tournament with MANY participants (in particular luffy, MoniraKing etc)
i am a huge daigo fan but i take my hat off to ryan for the win! lost respect for daigo not choosing ryu in the first place! ryan seemed pretty pee#d off with daigo's comment 'ryan is only good in europe' lol he span that joke right back in this interview lol wanted daigo to win but mad props to mr hart!!!! uk stand up tall
and yes justin is god tier in US!!!!
Yeah, as much as I respect both players, it's quite clear Daigo wasn't on his game. Props to Ryan for taking advantage of whatever distractions Daigo was dealing with, but he was blatantly off; on everything from decision making to execution. You can't be superlative all the time - he's only human.
Daigo's Cammy is without a doubt, garbage, though.
1
He never said everyone backed Justin he just said that Justin Wong is the best player in the US so when Daigo plays he plays his very best but when he plays someoen like Ryan who does'nt get as much publicity and exposure but has more experience, Daigo is not pressured but at the same time he is not expecting much either so his guard is down a little. This gives Ryan a subtle edge againts Daigo.
Question is why is he using Cammy now?
must a agree ryan did sound a bit cocky and seemed a bit salty even though he won lol but remember there was an interview where daigo said ryan is not that great he is only good in europe not sure if that was translated properly but if ryan read that he would be pretty cheesed off.
But i agree would be nice to get daigo's side of the story not sure if he was having a bad day as such but people need to remember everybody loses maybe not as much as others but i've seen great players lose to less great players doesnt mean their better it just happens.
I would still say daigo on a whole is a better player but he has lost to ryan several times now lol but my money would be on daigo if it was a 1st to 10 ryu mirror but when sims enter lol who knows he is ryu's nemesis.
Ryan posts here on Eventhubs so maybe he will respond to this. Why did you come across as so cocky in this interview? Did they quote you wrong like Seth or what?
Hart has a good point that instead of fighting over who's second that USA and EU should be fighting Japan for the top spot.
He is also right that the US hasn't defended their turf from Daigo as well as the EU scene has, although Justin and Marn went over to EU and took them out there, so it's kind of a finger pointing at you has three pointing back at themselves kind of thing.
its weird that Hart says that USA players are arrogant and then pulls off one of the most arrogant interviews ive read. pot calling the kettle black.
@1 Though he is a tard, and most likely a fan of the men, I still consider him to be our best player.
Won loads of tournaments around the world?
Last I heart Ryan was getting beat down in money matches by random people at evo. Also justin and marn murdered you guys you cocky biatch.
Grats on beating daigo and all but he was using cammy. I seriously doubt you have pulled that out if he just used ryu both rounds even if you did us dhalsim.
Good interview!
This guy did what few have...so you can't hate.
How many people posting here have ever beat Daigo let alone just played him?
If it was someone else who beat Daigo haters would still be on here bitching..."He's arrogant", "He's cocky"...
You guys are salty that you ain't him...
...end of the day...a win is a win.
judges decision is final.
It's history.
full stop!
let's move on.
"USA should own the Japs next time with this incentive and show them the West is more than just a few "ok" players."
They need to proofread their document with their racist comments. I know Ryan Hart doesn't mean that word out of spite but in a public document it should be edited to be more professional.
@ clovr4lyf, if a master swordsman doesn't know how to make a sword does he stop being a master? just because he specializes in ryu play and can't win with everyone doesn't mean he's not a master player.
the simple fact of the matter is Daigo under estimated his opponent, and his opponent had something to prove. things like this happen in sports all the time. now next time they play daigo is going to be out for blood.
@22
"Won loads of tournaments around the world?"
Yup, he has won loads. Do your research.
"Last I heart Ryan was getting beat down in money matches by random people at evo. Also justin and marn murdered you guys you cocky biatch."
Actually if I recall correctly, you'll find that Ryan and Arturo were the only two who managed to beat Daigo in money matches. Justin and Marn did win when they came to Europe, murdered is an exageration. I'm not going to divulge information, its not my place to do so.
"Grats on beating daigo and all but he was using cammy. I seriously doubt you have pulled that out if he just used ryu both rounds even if you did us dhalsim. "
Sorry buddy, its not like this was the first time. Ryan beat Daigo in Cannes, Evo 2009, and now SvB 20-X.
I jest, I loved it when I visited the states earlier this year. It was my first time and I can't wait to return again. Really nice players in person, nothing compared to how some people talk online!
@11
i think its because of his fight with arturo, which was a really hard fight for daigo, that made him decide to train on more than just ryu so he could counter-pick certain characters that give ryu a hard time..its just my opinion though so dont take it as a fact :)
Diago didn't underestimate Hart, he choose Cammy to counterpick Hart's Dhalsim, but too bad for Daigo he got a different matchup instead! and his Cammy is average but completely missing up all those links and not even pulling out setups! (seeing from 3 different kind of videos) and i think the change of rule to single elimination in grand finals is a lil' bit weird!
while idk if this is the right proper translation from the interview, Hart sounds salty and cocky about this interview! even though he lost to a money match from Daigo 5-0.
No offense to Daigo but his Cammy was X-Box live like.
ok, based off the interview, ryan did come off as a little cocky. i don't know him, i don't know his tournament record, i'm sure he is a nice guy irl but here, not sooo much. but the fact still stands, a win is a win. the loser can either waste their energy trying to explain themselves. or just train harder for the next match.
Well I don't know I'm no Daigo fanboy myself but why are people overlooking the fact that he was using Cammy & not his EVO-winning main Ryu. People are talking about this like Daigo got permanently owned or something.
We all know that he's played online with Cammy & my guess would be that he's simply trying out other characters for a change. We've all done that. Now if he was going everywhere to absolutely win 100% serious he'd be choosing Ryu everywhere he goes as hes been doing prior to SvB.
& the people saying he's only picking Cammy to counter pick Ryan Hart's Dhalsim, Daigo's taken up Arturo Sanchez' Sim plenty of times with Ryu & with all do respect Sabin's Sim is miles ahead of Ryan's.
For those of you wanting Ryan Hart to respond here, he's already done so on the SvB thread a number of times. Here's a link.
http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2010/au...
Evans and a few others have also commented on that thread. Please keep things civil, though.
not that this quote is a big deal, but..
"I have been travelling longer than him though since I am a bit older, once I has started winning tournaments in 1996 I began travelling for tournaments. I've been travelling since 1998 when I first visited Japan and won 1st place in the World King Of Fighters Championship at Tokyo Game Show."
if memeory serves me right, Daigo won the 1998 sfa3 tourny in california. how old is ryan hart anyways lol. he doesnt lookd too much older than daigo.
damn was daigo not cocky in that interview after the tournament in australia where he basically wrote this guy off? if the cammy blind pick was a strategy then guess what, s--t backfired. it happens. if he was trying to counter pick then why do it if this guy wasn't even a threat? he beat arturo's sim with ryu right? damn daigo lost ok. he took a shot at hart in an interview and now hart is shooting back.. if theres a japanese evo or whatever this year maybe daigo will get the chance to put him down again. until then. hart won daigo lost.
I'm really loving this EVO thing more and more, everytime I hear about it. I got quite a ways to go though. Someday i'll travel around as well and put on a good show. Of course I'll have to find time away from my pro wresting.
I love how you kids argue over such trivial stuff. Daigo pissed Ryan off and karma caught up to him, it's as simple as that. Both players have been on the scene since the 90s and are capable of beating each other in tournaments with no factors involed. If you clowns practiced instead of talking smack about players would rape you for free you could have your own article for winning a tournament.
@ Phinny
You know, Justin has a girlfriend. And Ricky Ortiz is in, fact a 'fan of the men' as you so put it, and I'm sure he could still destroy you and the vast majority of people who post here
Well, I'm not from JP, EU, or US. So I won't be favoring anyone's side. To be honest, most of you are bashing Ryan, why is that? Most of you who are judging Ryan are either 15 years old kids or just NEW to fighting games since SF4/SSF4. Ryan is an old guy compared to most SSF4 player and he is still competing with them. I have heard of his news and victories in the 90s with various fighting games. He is a champion before YOU (who are reading this comment "mostly") were a plan by your dad to have you; but sadly it was in the old days before the streaming and youtube.
Give the guy some credits, he deserve them. And he is a nice guy not a cocky one.
P.S. I just love how the fighting community are growing more and more these past years.
Cheers! beers on me :)
most people just said "ryan did sound a bit cocky "
if they feel that cocky, you hate them for it. and call people nerds or jealous.
it doesn't sound like you are much better than people here.
sorry i mean you are not much better than other people here.
atleast they don't call people all kind of names.
either you think that interview is cocky or not. no need to call name.
"So yes Daigo is super good at SSF4 and a really nice guy and that is cool off the game but as afraid as everyone else is of him when we step into the match, into that arena, I don't take the same attitude. For me he is my enemy that I must take down and that is the way anyone should see him when in the match. If you see him in any other way when you are in tournament with him, then fighting games (at competitive level at least) are not for you."
This is how everyone should think when they face daigo.
And btw, eventhubs why you accept bs comments like "Everyone knows Europe is bottom of the tier List!" ??
You need to clean this site up, it's quickly becoming a haven for flamers and trolls.
As usual Americans think they are the centre of the universe. How many Americans would make the trip if EVO was held in Paris or London? It's not like it is for you guys, having to hop on a Greyhound or take a flight to Vegas. If EVO was held in Japan how many Americans would turn up?
Why cant people just be happy for Ryan's win jeez.
Thank you! To all the scrubs who asked if all the Europeans are so good, why don't they come to Evo? The answer has been said multiple times before... It's bloody expensive!! Most of us have real full-time jobs, we need to request time off work, and we need to save approximately $1500 just to make it happen.
If we adopted the same foolish attitude, we would be asking, why didn't any Americans travel over for SvB which was a WORLD tournament?
Funny enough, any of the East Coast players could have flown over for approximately $400, and seeing as the prize was $3000, it would have been more than an incentive.
How about we organise something where we send over a bunch of European players to Evo, and in return you send your guys to the next SvB? :)
Europe did well and stopped Daigo from winning. That's enough to make me happy. Congratulations Ryan Hart on beating Daigo. Only a few people can beat Daigo in Tournaments.
"If EVO was held in Japan how many Americans would turn up?"
many Americans will show up at evo Japan. lets see how many EU show up. Last year, there were like 10+ Americans went to SBO, few of them don't even qualify. Americans also attended Godsgraden 1. You didn't see them on stream or play in the tournament, but they were there. I know because i was happen to be there and i saw couple American players playing against Japanese players in casual.
"If we adopted the same foolish attitude, we would be asking, why didn't any Americans travel over for SvB which was a WORLD tournament?"
PR balrog got top 8 at SvB. He is US citizen. Puerto Rico is a US territory , they use US dollar over there.
Funny how when Daigo down talks Ryan, no one gives a crap but when Ryan does the same everybody (well mostly the americans) goes insane. He's clearly just returning the favor.
I don't think he's trying to be cocky despite how it may come across, most of you are ignoring the time when Daigo shared his thoughts on Ryan so I'd have a similar attitude if one of the top players in the world says you are nothing special then attempts to counter pick you anyway
LOL at these people making something out of nothing, Ryan Hart has even stated that he feels Daigo is a better player than him and if that's not being humble then I don't know what humble is. You guys are going off like he says Daigo is trash. Ryan has multiple wins over Daigo FACT so he's entitled to say what he said which wasn't harsh at all.
Sarcasm filter off - Ryan Hart seems to have beat Daigo when Daigo was playing like ass, and now he's walking around like he's Godzilla. ei. Japan better watch out.
I'd bet $50 Ryan Hart couldn't beat Art first to 5.
Not being a Ryan Hart hater, I was actually a fan until this cocky interview
@77 leinad1980
Ryan has beaten Daigo numerous times now in SF4/SSF4....more times then Wong has anyways. He has the right to be a lil cocky, especially when Daigo says 'He's just good in Europe' and he has lost more times to Ryan then he has won.
Ryan was a beast at 3rd Strike to...he had some amazing matches with Daigo back in the day, and who could forget his 'Daigo Evo 2k4 like moment' he did on Wong with his Yun.
Easy point of view.
The EUR championship ok? Prodigal is there, but the sensation of championship is : DAIGO.
Prodigal should have much cursing on twitter...LOL
Congrs to Prodigal beat Daigo GOD Umehara, but he lost the championship??? No congrs.
Daigo is not impossible to beat, the plp think that.
Prodigal, pls, training more to winner some important championship and then comes out talking nonsense.
If Hart truly believes Alioune is a "Cammy Master", then I'm the creater of Double Tapping & Plinking!...First of all he lost his money match to Daigo, more than a few times in the past! YOU FINALLY beat him in a match where clearly Daigo isn't even trying nor does he look like he wants to be there and your GASSED about it??!! Give me a break seriously!!! But everyone has their off days so it sucks Daigo lost this match. You've won championships around the world?... *sighs*. And before I forget, that idiot Alioune said the combo daigo kept missing (standing strong, cr.strong, spiral arrow) doesn't work on Ryu? The sh!t works everytime if done correctly! Somebody please send Alioune some links of SAKO PLEEEEEEEASE!!!!
EU won blud.. daigo is cool and that but he didnt win.. americans can go eff themself thinking there so sick at the game when its not even that..
Im gonna name my snorlax marn :D
I cant help but feel if Ryan was American you guys would have your heads up his ass
Ryan Hart speaking Real talk! To many Dickriding and he says what comes to mind and heart. Daigo is a beast andrhosethat can beat him PROPS!!
"many Americans will show up at evo Japan. lets see how many EU show up. Last year, there were like 10+ Americans went to SBO, few of them don't even qualify."
@72: I'm from Spain and I went to SBO 09 as well among other Spanish players, and we met some french people there too. Me and a friend tried to participate in the "last chance" sf4 qualifier held the same day but only a limited amount of people were allowed in it (they did a random raft to see who entered) and I wasn't lucky enough. Anyway I wouldn't have done anything there. I was happy enough to see the whole event as a spectator.
I'm just saying there possibly were 10+ Europeans at SBO 09 as well as americans.
Thing is in SF4 and SSF4 daigo is partially right, Ryan Hart is only good in europe, never beat anyone worth writing home about in a tourny outside of Europe.
And probably in japanese it doesnt sound as harsh. Some things are lost in translation, can you really see daigo laying down something like that to dig at someone. No. The guys a nurse and like all japs not the type.
Hi Everyone, do you all remember that scene out of Robocop where they first show ED 209 at that meeting then it malfunctions and locks in on that poor guy? I know it's bad but that was so funny. looool Sorry, I had to get that out.
Ok, firstly I just want to say that I am really sorry I upset all of you. Luffy beat me fair and square in the finals, what can I say. I don't know the matchup it's true, but that is my own fault and I should have worked on my weaknesses more.
Daigo is an amazing player, just because I beat him in tournament it does not mean I am better than him or that Europe is better than USA.
Haha, I'm definitely not better than Daigo. You guys are nuts, when did I ever say that? I won in the tourney yes, but that don't make me better. Trolls will troll man, damn!
Please don't misunderstand my replies in my interview, I tried to be as honest as possible but please forgive me if it sounded arrogant. I am not an arrogant person, I know I am not the best player and that is fine. I do what I can and that's it, I have limits too.
Things are easily misinterpreted when in text form so please don't read too much into things. I have a lot of respect for the US guys and I love the country. I always have a great time when I come to EVO to hang out with you guys and I think you are all great. I wouldn't bother coming year after year if I didn't think so. I've been paying my own way to EVO long before I was ever sponsored and it's never been a letdown.
I am just a regular guy and I've never said different. I'm not arrogant, I'm confident and there is nothing wrong with that. You all should be confident in your skills too, not sure why any of you decided to play fighting games competitively if you aren't confident.
So what if J.Wong said Adon was low tier then he lost to him? Nobody is perfect, people are too quick to jump on people for the tiniest things. That's why there is no unity in the west. Yeah I said Europe did their bit, cos the way I see it it's the West vs the East and we all have our posts to defend, when I come to the US and I see a US player vs a Japanese player do you think I'm cheering for the Japanese guy? No, I'm cheering for USA. However I'm sure all USA players would want Japanese players to beat all Europeans, it's so sad.
You should be happy we defended our post, now you can say Japan doesn't own all of the west and now you can beat the Japanese players when they come to Seasons Beatings 5 and it will be good for you and everyone. Good for the US players because you will get more confidence in your country's level, and good for the Japanese who would find coming the US more interesting because they have a real challenge now.
Games are just fun normally but when tournament is on, games are war ladies and gentlemen and we are all on the front line. If you actually sided with us instead of thinking you are too superior then you would see that we are all on the same team and we are better when on the same team.
Also if you guys are all so much better in the US why don't you try helping the weaker man? You always slag off the UK/Europe despite the obvious fact that no good will come of it, only thinking of your own personal wishes for your own scene/country. That attitude needs to go.
Why can't it be civilised like when Japan get it on with Korea and stuff for games. You can clearly see the mutual respect.
There is no need to know who is better out of Europe and USA anyway, why does that matter??? Can someone please tell me? So what if USA won or so what if Europe won? What's gonna happen? Taxman gonna skip your house? You gonna get a pay rise? You gonna get an award? You gonna be promoted? You gonna like the game more? Ain't nothing gonna happen but more bickering and excuses.
If we all came together and tried to be a team we could actually be better at the game and enjoy gaming more here in the West but nobody sees it. Europe vs USA doesn't have to be war, it could just be a friendly challenge to strengthen ourselves for bigger fish.
Lastly I'm sorry if Jap sounded racist, God only knows I'm the last person who would want be racist on this planet. I'm so sorry if I upset or offended anyone. I definitely did NOT mean it as a racist slur.
I don't really know what to say now, it's sad reading all your comments about me, you've all trodden me into the ground with your hurtful comments to make me feel like crap and I don't really know how to redeem myself. Is this one of those moments where I am supposed to just not care what people say? Who knows, but I don't want to be cold like that and just ignore people. I want to talk about it and I want people to understand me.
I really didn't want to upset anyone and now I don't know what to do. I mean everyone well and want to game together, get stronger and have fun at the same time like we all do every year at EVO.
One person asked why I lost to Marn. I lost to Marn because Marn played better, simple.
I am just playing to be the best I can and that's it. Let's all do the same and it should be a bright future for us all surely.
Cry more Ryanhart you just act all innocent and sh1t. You sound like the biggest bitch so why don't you just stfu. You full try to defend yourself by making yourself look innocent but sorry mate its not gunna work.
"Lastly I'm sorry if Jap sounded racist, God only knows I'm the last person who would want be racist on this planet. I'm so sorry if I upset or offended anyone. I definitely did NOT mean it as a racist slur." <--- Biggest load of sh1t ever
"I don't really know what to say now, it's sad reading all your comments about me, you've all trodden me into the ground with your hurtful comments to make me feel like crap and I don't really know how to redeem myself." <--- More sh1t.
I hope you choke on the sh1t you talk you arrogant bastard!
Ryan, do you really need to explain yourself to trash like poster of #92? People like him don't respect you just because you've acomplished way more than they ever will and just twist everything you'll say. I guarantee you that anybody with IQ higher than 50 understands what you meant by what you said in the interview.
Ryan, I think you are right. This is one of those times when you should just ignore what people say and just do your own thing. Quite frankly I'm (positivly) surprised that you even bothered writing here at all considering all the scrubs/trolls that spam nonsense here. I do think most people understand you but there is such a high number of trolls on EH that it might seem different. Here you see bs about Marn and Justin being fat, Gootecks throwing his stick and inspite of this I dare say that these players (and you included) are very respected in the community. I wouldnt be surprised if most people that post here are around 15 and barely can play sf.
Would also like to add that often read stuff here but this is the first time I bothered commenting!
@Ryanhart
its eventhubs for not putting the entire interview, they only put the part they only wanted to show to the people, i read the whole interview and find very interesting.
now look where you are, this is eventhubs, like 80% of the people here are trolls in training, dont get so surprise for all the hate.
on topic, europe and usa should try to be more competitive and stop trash talking each other, yes america is full of egocentrics but not all are that way there's a lot of people that simply want to play and enjoy the competitve scene, also europe have good players too but not so recognize like in the usa that doesnt mean there arent good players is just recongnition that play's here, japan are better because, they play with one character and they practice their links, combos, reset and mixups, they now how their main work in certain situation unlike the rest of the world the mayority keep on counter picking and play the number instead of playing their best, there is an all saying no one can perfect 2 different things, 1 is posible but 2 is imposible think about it
at least your not charging people for online sessions per hour like people do in the U.S.
@92 - I know Ryan hart personally, and you couldn't be more wrong. I think it's disgusting how easy it is for some idiot to come on here and incite hatred towards someone they don't even know. Everyone is right, Eventhubs is great for news, but the comments people write are just pathetic.
I'm out.
I recomend people to read the complete interview... seriously, theres so much interesting thougts there by Ryan. Im having a great time reading all this comments, even when its people trolling, the return of the competitive scene si now a real fact. Now give us back the arcades
@102 - He's at a FRENCH tournament! Do you really expect him to not mention a European players as a great player when being interviewed on their own soil? Give me a break kid...Is that why Daigo was not invited to ESWC or did they just want a fellow Euro player to actually take the victory at home?! And still lost to Justin & Marn... *sighs* retards...
Just going to say:
Haters gonna HATE!. All these bitch-ass Diego fans crying because their hero lost a game, from what I heard Ryan just played the better game and out smarted Diego.
ALSO;
1) J.Wong is still one of the best in the world, all these people bad mouthing him need to realise he would still beat them at the game.
2) Diego lost, end of, odds are you people are crying about it more then he is!
3) Ryan Hart is a good player, I know people from Neo Empire who have played him and said he is great to play against.
Here is my 2nd blog interview:
http://lowlandlions.com/index.php/com...
Topics covered:
USA players
Ryan's Ryu vs Daigo's Ryu
PR Balrog vs Daigo (tournament bracketing)
'Alien character' lame excuse?
Top 5 players in the world
How to help the community
And more...
When he plays Justin, he knows who Justin is, and that Justin is the US's hope, courage, strength and knowing that strengthens Daigo in the match.
Ryan you can eat sh!t for that comment aint no body in the U.S
backin that tard.
(Insert hate here)
