@5: Not true. Makoto has some good answers to jab mashing. Standing fierce kick will either beat or trade heavily in her favor. VRyu even uses it a couple times in these rounds.
VRyu uses Makoto to her full potential, probably more than anybody else. NinjaCW wins with her as well, but doesn't use as many tricks. As far as I'm concerned, VRyu is the best Makoto in the world right now.
I think there are some videos of him vs Daigo somewhere, someone link them up. Daigo reckons VRyu is the best Makoto in the world he has played right now.

if this game wasnt so defensive she would have a better chance.
Here's some matches that were posted awhile back ago by Luffy on the UYG Youtube channel. Luffy mentioned to us back then that VRyu's Makoto was by far the most dangerous he ever encountered.
All that batch of videos taught me was that this guy is a dick and won't make it far. Anyone who toys with his opponent - even if that opponent happens to be an 11yrs. kid - and doesn't take them seriously won't earn much respect.
Can't wait to mod my arcade stick to a 8 gate, so I can start playing as some Makoto.:)
@32
lol, He's a dick because he's just playing around. What wrong with playing around a bit, its up to him to do that, if he losses that his bad..... Plus its hard to take someone serious when you can just do what ever u want to them :P.....
Dont be so judgmental its just a game. And i know that Sugar ray Lenon was a highly respected boxer and he taunted a lot.
what a lot of people aren't realizing is that all of makoto's mixups and stuff are really unsafe and unreliable. when you see these matches where makoto wins, it looks so impressive because she guesses right every time and the other guy falls for it. that doesn't happen against good players who know how to fight her at all. all of her options get shut down and she's got nothing to fall back on. just look at the daigo match.
flash metroid's makoto definitely isn't better than vryu's, either. that's why he kept his main.
3s won't be surprised by that lk link to ultra... nothing new.
Nice to see Makoto played at a tournament with high level play, but to go as far as to call him the best Makoto in the world is LOL!
I could say the same about NinjaCW.
There will be more Makotos, more Adons, Hell I'm sure we will see the best Hakan in the world soon.
No offense, but my girl can do a better Makoto than VRyu. -_-
@32:
kusanagi is not a random 11 years old guy. I knew him before (in fact, i even already knew his father before kusanagi was born...).
it's like if you play a friend of you, and playing for fun.
and for daigo matches, as i said on shoryuken forum: (copy paste):
"i had to do more tsurugi vs daigo (i think you already saw the vids). But you know, after waiting 44wins to play, i was scared of daigo and thought "he will punish every tsurugi...". But hell no, i should have to play normally...."
I didnt play normally against daigo. I didnt do HK tsurugi, thinking he would punish them everytime xD (you know, daigo's aura. lol). That's why i started to do LK tsurugi to make shoryu whiff, without even trying to play normally first (with HK tsurugi)....
Not saying i would beat him. But at least, i would do better if we could do more matches....but i was bored to wait 45min+ to play 2 matches...
i should have 1$ FT100 money match him xD
i hope more videos will come with other 5on5 matches on worstgief channel.

disregard the post above watch this one
lmaooo "What the f**k"!! that was freaking hilarious in the last video round 1:30. i freaking love Makoto. i gotta get more practice later.
Makoto still sucks. If anyone cared to notice, when Makoto players win, it's either by a moderate margin or nearly dead. Her risk/reward is not worth it to players who generally play very conservative. Which I've come to the conclusion, if someone wants to have success with Makoto, they would have to completely disregard everything they know and go for meaty pressure and okizeme, areas she excels. I noticed in the videos, VRyu's setups sacrifice two or more things in comparison. As well when someone mentioned that when Makoto loses, she loses bad.
If this wasn't SSF4, she would probably have more success.
Every time there's a Makoto article, there are people claiming that she's secretly beast. Most of us intermediate to advanced Makoto players know that's simply not true. She's a pretty good character who is limited SEVERELY by how the SSFIV game engine interprets matchups. In a game where wakeup reversals have huge windows and are armor breaking, projectiles are the best zoning tools available, and where C.jab is a bit too effective, the areas where poor Makoto excels (meaties, close-quarters pressure, and oki) are far less effective than they might be in another game (think 3rd Strike).
While it's heartening to see matches where she destroys someone, the matches where she loses most often put on display, for all to see, the hurdles that she needs to overcome to deal reliable damage, and it isn't pretty. You really get a feel for how the game engine works against her. In this sense, she may be the only character worse than Viper in the risk/reward area for getting in on opponents.
After this weekend, ive asked daigo what he thought about makoto.
He told me that before coming to svb, he thought she was worst tier, but after seeingy matches, he finally saw her potential and he find her mid-low, for the moment.
But i think naruto93-like people who post here must know the game more than him to take care of what he said.
its no secret that makoto is a strong character.. with full meter, 2 mistakes and you're done.. mak and dudley play almost the same as they did in 3rd strike..
i used to main ibuki in 3s and i'm really disappointed with her transition to ssf4.. in 3s, her game was built around target combos and relaunchers.. with no parrying, especially in the air, she's forced to win with a solid ground game..
i guess thats why sf4 is dominated by projectile characters, ryu, sim, guile, etc.. the air to air game is so limited =/
@56:
Getting three Makoto players to play against each other is really redundant since it would boil down to who can out-random the other. It's the same with all mirror matches really.
@57:
Ibuki in 3s was not built with target combos and relaunchers. She was built (and in the similar vain in NG and 2i) as a footsies character. Her footsies is only second to Chun in 3s. You don't have to jump with Ibuki to win in 3s.
Loved the commentator saying Seichusen Godanzuki XD
