Capcom's Seth Killian said that a recent Gaming Union article about Marvel vs. Capcom 3, especially the headline, wasn't accurate and provided more clarification on the story.
Seth: I didn't say anything like what he chose to use as the headline, and was pretty disappointed to see it. Here is what I actually said (after removing the writer's personal conclusions):
"There's still a lot of back-and-forth internally about it, frankly. So, at a minimum you can expect your standard online modes [for Marvel vs. Capcom 3] where you can have a friendly match or a ranked match, as well as all your offline modes. But set your expectations there and hopefully we can go in some fun new directions beyond that."
That says nothing about, "MvC3 will ship with barebones online," or anything about DLC, patching, or the like. So that's where he added this quote:
However, Killian did suggest that further modes will be patched in later, as with SFIV and SSFIV. "You want to meet all the player expectations," he said, "but if there is something that you want to do that you're not able to get to - patch it in later."
I did say the things inside the quote, except I wasn't talking about online modes at all — I was responding to another question about, "why isn't such and such character in MVC3," and pointing out that while there's no way we'll get in everyone that people want to see, adding others could be possible via DLC or something later.
In short, this is trying to go from a straightforward quote to a more dramatic headline. Could you conclude the headline from what I said? No, and a simple follow-up question could have cleared up any confusion, but there was no follow-up question sometimes people would rather create a more controversial headline than to ask a question and have me just say, "No, that's not what I was saying at all."
The writer of the story doesn't seem to care about details though — he doesn't even have the right logo for the game on his picture with the story :P
Good more modes the better.
Just PLEEAAAASE dont give it the SSF4 netcode.
THERE should be an instant-upload video option,,, i mean this:
1-select the video replay of the fight you liked.
2- save it to your HDD, (NOT GAME DATA)
3- once in the XMB upload it to youtube or the site of your like..
i mean c'mon,,, we already have an edit/upload video on the ps3 XMB, we only need the ssf4, MvC3,Mortal Kombat, SFxTekken etc etc videos to be able to be saved on the HDD,,,
Please read me on this Capcom,
I would personally like too see a ratio match where you can do; 1 vs. 1, 2 vs.1 and 3 vs 1. You can pin point the level between characters. For example; Wolverine vs Ryu and Morrigan. Wolverine will be Level 4 and Ryu and Morrigan can both be lvl 2 or one of them can be Lvl 3 and that leaves the other to Lvl 1. The Levels can be brought up by power and defense so the matches will be equally driven. This is just like the ration mode in Capcom vs Snk.
Personally, I'm not very picky when it comes to online modes in fighting games. As long as I can fight in unranked, "friendly" matches and ranked matches, I'm happy. They definitely took a step in the right direction with HD Remix, MvC2, and SSFIV where you can watch people play that are in the same lobby as you. As long as they have all of that, I'll be happy.
Things like a tourney mode are just unnecessary, but a replay mode would be nice I have to admit
How about team battle that ISN'T pokemon style so you don't hope your teammate loses so that you can fight.
Pokemon style team is stupid
I'm not sure how co-op fighting would work online, since you have to be coordinated with your teammate. That's why NSMBW didn't have online; co-op would be pure chaos without communication.
@Cornwad
I've never played SSF4 online, but if there's lag, it's definitely not because it's on PS3. I play BlazBlue online, and in 95% of my cases there's been absolutely no lag once the fight starts. Capcom should take a page from Arc System Works.
I third the motion for Online Training Mode. See how much better your online setup for fighting games could be, Capcom, if you just looked at Arc System Works.
@FroggyMan77
Well, it's not Capcom's fault either because, at least on XBL (never played SSF4 on PSN) as long as you play people with green bars, 95% of the time there's no lag. Hell, even with yellow bars 70% of the time you won't notice the difference.
Maybe some different styled tournament modes like double elimination and round robin and the best netcode Capcom greedy asses an get their hands on.
@Gameplan
Those aren't very good statistics even for 360.
All I'm saying is that virtually lag-free online fighting can be done on the PS3. It's BEEN done on the PS3. TWICE.
@f1ip
Not many people would play that, and it would be a huge waste of resources to put up a mode that very few would use.
So that means random lag and input drops with people that live in my city, fantastic.
I think the options will be great for MvC 3, but remember Dramatic Battle back in the Alpha series in Street Fighter? I would love to see that in SSF4! One can only dream. I also like the idea of replays of offline matches like you did for 3rd Strike
@FroggyMan77
It's good enough for any kind of online play, there's no such thing as absolutely 100% lag free games on any platform. Unless you're living in Korea or something, 95% of lag free games is pretty damn good considering all the variables involved.
how about a 2 player training mode, to work on combos, infinites (if there are any), zoning, frame traps, rushdown tactics, but with a XBL/PSN friend. It would work the best if both parties had a headset.
Amen bro!!!
@Gameplan
But notice you gave the parameter of "As long as you choose a green signal." Because you have to choose a green signal in order to get little lag, it means the system as a whole has a lot more lag than what you're saying.
if they were going to add another online mode i would definitly say endless battle, i love that feature on SSF4, either that or a tournament style mode like on SSF4 but id rather see a endless battle
also sorry bout the double post but im all for a 2 player online training mode for like helping people put etc and also a replay channel for this game seems like a must to me
@ FroggyMan77
Well of course you have to play people with green bars. Who the hell plays a game with someone on a bad connection and still expects little or no lag?
Besides like I said, you can play people with yellow bars and 70% or more of the time you don't notice the difference and when there's some lag, isn't that bad. Seriously, if you play people with green or yellow connections you shouldn't have any problems.
how about an arcade mode where people come in.. without it being ranked.. endless mode i thought would be good but its too much waiting.. i just want to play already
Replay Channel (Kind of like SSFIV.)
Offline Replay Channel (Same as above just offline.)
2 Player Training Mode (Great for training and meaningless immortal battles. ^^)
-Slade "The Doctor" Hokan
Watch any live match any time and i need a new xbox360 got banned playing halo reach oh well thats what i get lol.
- Online Training Mode
- Simultaneous Team-Battle - which allows switching between team-players simultanously during a fight (MvC3 system for SSF4, just with 1 character for each player). This would be far better, than just watching and waiting for your line in current Team-Battle mode.
Like everyone said, I want a team battle mode with 6 players.
Also, I would like it if there were a mode where both players only get one character. I know this game is about teams and assists, but I'd still like to be able to play one on one, since this game is the only place where a lot of these characters appear.
pls add online training mode it would make learning new fighting tactics way easier
Great now all they need to do is confirm that the Juggernaut and Zangief is in it and I will buy it. Cause his the JUGGANAUT BITCH!
Online training mode, search functions, and replays of offline matches do sound like some good features. It always frustrated me when I was trying to play my friends locally and get them into SSFIV when I couldn't show them what they were doing wrong with a replay when we played offline.
ya they should also have sort of a rankings system for fight replays like what is the best fight of the day or week or month...etc that way we can view more good fights instead of a bunch of stupid ones like in ssf4 sometimes i wanna watch a video and all i see is noobs playing...so if they can create a rankings system for the game that would be a nice improvement
@ Gameplan
"[on xbox 360] you can play people with yellow bars and 70% or more of the time you don't notice the difference and when there's some lag, isn't that bad."
This is a dubious statement, because that judgment varies from person to person. Personally, when I play (PS3) SSF4 online against yellow/green bar connections, I almost never feel any lag whatsoever and I do fine.
However, a very skilled friend of mine doesn't play online at any connection level on any game console because he trained himself to such a strict timing that even the most minute lag is noticeable.
This is why we bring our games to school and play there in the lounge.
@ Clovr4Lyf :How about a 6 player 3v3 mode?
Anybody can pick their ONE character (not already picked)
and join a team and drop in out at anytime (Lead player takes over in case of a drop)
More people, more fun!
________
YES, dude that'd be pretty cool.
But I'd love to see :
~1V1 2V2 3V3, Possible handicaps: 1V2,1V3,2v3
~Replay Mode (save to hard drive and possibly upload to youtube)(Playback speed: -4x,-2x, 0, 2x, 4x)(hitbox display)
~Online & Offline 2 player training Mode (hitbox display)
~Spectator Mode
~WEIRD Cool Mode idea:
This is an idea I had, it'd be cool to have a mode where it's a bit of twist from both arcade and survival(though you don't really die when you lose a fight),let me explain:
You have to play with all the character in the game once and beat their opponents before a timer runs out. If the opponent beats you, you get stuck with the character (which will take from your overall time)until you beat your opponent then you move on with another character. The difficulty gets higher the further you get.
Hopefully, if they decide to do a tourney mode, they should let battles be simultaneously played so we don't have to watch through everybody's battle. Or have an option to toggle it on and off would be better. Also to not make the game suddenly end when the host leaves, because there are a lot of rage quitters online.
