Here's a look at some of the interesting things happening in the fighting game community.
• On his Twitter, Yoshinori Ono confirmed that he'd announce new characters for Super Street Fighter 4 at the Tokyo Game Show, Sept. 16 - 19, 2010. He also said he couldn't comment at this time if the new fighters would be available on the console versions.
• Destructoid reviewed the Street Fighter Encyclopedia by Udon which will be released on August 25th for $13.99. They gave it a very respectable 8 out of 10 score.
• Triniboy sent in this Marvel vs. Capcom 2 combo video titled Danger Room 2.
• YogaFlame24 made a series of videos showing showing people using Turbo online while playing Super Street Fighter 4. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.
• There's a community Mega Man modification with him fighting against Ryu and Dhalsim, in 8-bit style, which Jarkyttaa noticed. Mega Man also has some weapons modeled after attacks found in Street Fighter.
• Sean being beat back by Necro's taunt in Third Strike submitted by Chris The Man.
@dondb - seriously, its built into every controller made for the game, and its not supposed to be used? I dont think so!
Dude, I saw WorstGiefEver on the Turbo video. Dude, if you're reading this, I feel bad for you. Losing to some idiot mashing out Demon, that just stupid.
I use a regular xbox controller to play and because I rapidly cancel TK's with Viper dude tells me he watched the replay and calls me a turbo fag..=/ I mean i just hit it fast, no turbo..and he won anyways i just like to rapid cancel for wtf's...and u can tell that Alex pic is fake because theres no hit detection on Rufus
So I'm guessing the Turbo controller makes combos actually usable by the average player? Since it removes all those 1/60 second timing windows.
@dondb I know I was agreeing, the i dont think so was just an expression.
lol, u have to love the turbo/mashers. Thats why the game is terrible online. U dont need turbo to mash out dps.
Shame on you Alf101975 and Dangers Warzone. I can't wait to tell you guys off if I ever see you two online again.
Damn I mentioned the news about yogaflamer24's vids on people using turbo in SSFIV to srk.com and they passed on it, now I see it announced here. I guess I should start tipping my news to eventhubs from, now on since srk.com thinks they are too uppity for exposing people for using turbo configs.
We should put together a list of these turbo abusers gamertags and make a wall of shame out of it.
Yes because using a built in, made for the game feature is so shameful. Its not about turbo its about reading your opponent. Who hasn't flipped it on now and then to see what the difference is? Anyway that vid is suspicious since only one side showed the input - how to know if the other player wasn't as well?
Yeah, the built-in turbo function on the proprietary controllers for this game is just tempting for those to abuse the hell out of out. By the way, I guess it gives basement dwelling virgin dorks closure to achieve victory through turbo settings to compensate for their lack of social and/or love life, IMO.
And these **** have the nerve to say I suck....
At least I know my one frame links. I might not be able to plink but at least I don't use turbo like a punk.
The Encyclopedia is already out, I bought it at my local comic shop last week.
I don't use turbo (360 d-pad FTW!) but feel embarrassed that the community is trying to keep names of those who use turbo...
just makes you all look salty as hell...
Don't like it? Take it up with Capcom...don't bash people for using a feature that the game clearly supports.
How's that, avoiding cheaters is now being salty? Oh gawd... Try showing up at next ranbat using Turbo and being like "Oh well, Capcom allowed it", lol.
It's not a matter of who wins, it's about being fair to your opponent.
Capcom is to blame of course, but it's not like exploiters are better.
Its not Capcom's fault that turbo is allowed to be used in their game, and i dont even think they are able to disable the feature out. imo Its the controller's maker fault for adding the feature to their product. SF isnt the only game turbo can be abused in.
Can we say that really turbo is a cheat ?
OS can not be done with turbo! So you really don't get the skill using Turbo.
Turbo can only be compared to "noob kens" who shoot shoryu HP in the link. Does it help them to win ? One or two times...not more!
Great players doesn't use turbo and they don't shoryu HP what ever happens.
Great players use OS.
From my point of view Turbo make some players a bit less weak that they really are. It hides their bad input but never makes then strong ;-)
Turbo limits the skills. So leave turbo players in their world. They will never come to EVO ;)
@ 34 gtfopanda
Why are you waiting for an invitation?
If you feel it gives players such an advantage, why aren't you using it from the get-go?
The reality is you're just being selfish, asking everyone out there to play like you do.
You should stop that.
@ Sakura
I'ts not a readily available thing to everyone. I didn't own a Fightpad or a Arcade Stick until a year after the game came out, so yes it is in fact an advantage. If I were to play Honda, and the opponent were to use Honda and use turbo he would have an advantage over me because my normal control wouldn't be able to use the easy mode Capcom inexplicabley provided us. I think its more or less for laughs in offline than for actual play since Im sure they don't allow its use in tournaments.
Sakura, we all have the option to hack the game don't we? So do you think that's ok too?
Turbo is definitely cheating, cheesing, skeezing, whatever you want to call it. But judging by the lack of posts on this subject it looks like most of the SF "community" uses it, I guess so they can pretend they're pros or just good, so turbo's not going away. Just another reason to avoid online play. And when online play dwindles, Capcom will have to make a change.
No, because hacking isn't provided for you.
Turbo can cut learning curve a bit, and can save some time with combos, but it doesnt make you a good player. Like #33 says - does it help them win? Maybe one or 2 times. Skill will always trump turbo(pushing buttons really fast) so dont cry about it. It is always good to have more play options.
Fact: EVERY PERSON ON THE PLANET SHOULD ALWAYS PLAY ONLINE *STRICTLY* FOR SH!TS & GIGGLES.
Don't ever take online play seriously, you can play online all you life but if you don't ever play offline you will suck, it's a fact. Playing online is like playing a completely different game, & the only people that really use turbo are ALL online. None of them have the b@lls to use it in front of actual players cause we all know that they will be told to GTFO. We all know turbo users suck & won't even be able to attend tournaments if they think they're good.
I fully agree with the comment said about turbo limits the skills you won't get anything done with it on & it doesn't work offline.
Ok guys quick tip on how to spot the fake pics (the original Dudley, Karin, Alex). Every single one has just been a slightly touched up version of the characters sprite and does not look anything like the characters in SSF4. Take a close look and you too can see the difference between sprites and 3D models.
Rather than Capcom removing an option, wouldn't it be interesting to see tournaments ALLOW a new one? Then everyone can stop crying and see that skill>turbo.
I guarantee it would spike tourney attendance and popularity as well. ;)
Stop - Let me rephrase, it is provided to those who buy a controller made for SF.
But seriously, I can see a huge benefit to the tourney community by allowing it. Loosen the noose a bit and profit, people.
@ 36 Sakura
What are you talking about, I'd never use it to have the same advantage my opponent has. However, if he gave me the opportunity to know he's playing with Turbo, I'd be able to decid whether or not play with him.
I enjoy when a competent guy beats the crap out of me, 'cause *maybe* he worked on his execution and he's not just mindlessly pressing a button. I understand you don't give a damn about it, but it won't work for anyone, you know.
It's pathetic to see this as crying and saltiness, and I'm aware that Turbo cuts certain options. However, being able to combo without margin of error sure as hell helps a lot more then a couple OS, in certain situations, since we're not talking about top/pro level here (no one would even imagine to use that crap there).
Fortunately those "options" are banned.
That means turbo scrubs don't go anywhere outside of online, so you'll never see the little cheats.
That is what I am saying - Allow it and prove that they are scrubs and your skill is supreme. Turbo isn't making anyone godlike at SF.
More people at tourneys=better for the community and more of those players will attend and pay $ to test their skillz.
1)a.Opens it to more people - people like options. b.community adapts to the technology. c.player skill improves since skill beats turbo every time.
2)Even MORE People that love street fighter will enter. It is not cheating if it is made especially for the game, that makes it a play option.
3)Money can help grow the community in many other ways providing more resources for gamers.
@gtfopanda
"What are you talking about, I'd never use it to have the same advantage my opponent has."
Your lost then. Again, just because you're too proud to use it, doesn't mean others should do the same.
"if he gave me the opportunity to know he's playing with Turbo, I'd be able to decid whether or not play with him."
Yeah...and I'd love it if every player gave me the opportunity to know they're playing with ryu/ken, so I'd be able to decide whether to play with them.
But I don't, so i suck it up.
either start using turbo or learn to deal with the fact that everyone doesn't have to play like you or announce their style of play beforehand.
OMG ALEX IS ON SSF4
