Marvel vs. Capcom 3's producer, Ryota Niitsuma, ruled out Dr. Strange, Demitri from Darkstalkers and possibly Cyclops today in a set of articles.Later on we came back to the subject of characters, and we tried to trick Niitsuma into letting something else slip by asking him if Marvel had rejected any of Capcom's character suggestions. Niitsuma wouldn't say anything, but he put his finger to his lips, and then made a visor motion across his eyes before drawing an X across his chest. We don't speak sign language, be we assume that Niitsuma was telling us to look closely into our hearts for the answer.
Maybe the second X-Men character will be Storm or Jean Grey. The Marvel side is severely lacking in females, to be completely honest.

some youtube user kelzvolnutt put a video of marvels website confirming cyclops, apocalypse,polaris and magneto. though he says he thinks its fake, a youtuber said the apocalypse picture is from another game. anyways, i don't understand why cyclops would get rejected. there are so many avengers in this game its ridiculous. just cause of a movie.i myself will be very angry if cyclops isn't in the game. he was the first x-men and everyone knows who he is. it doesn't make sense at all. he has so many great moves in mvc2 and fantastic combos. i think cyclops does have a different uniform now and doesn't have an X on his chest but it does sound like him either way =/ i have no idea why marvel wouldn't want cyclops to return. i know marvel needs to push there recent characters or the ones no one really likes but its so odd. he's been in it since children of the atom and even made it as an assist in mvc1

Exactly! Talbain would fit perfectly in MVC3, and so would BB Hood, and the others that you named.I hope that they add at least one of them.
I say, good for Cyclops not being in. He plays too similar to a shoto character anyways, & we really don't need anymore of that when we've already got Ryu, Morrigan, & Captain America. We need other characters with different playstyles, such as Storm, Magneto, Psylocke, Gambit, & maybe Jean Grey.
Though I'm saddened to hear that Dr. Strange won't make the cut, considering that he would really be a great competitor to Dormammu.
The only good bit was about cyclops... I hate him...
I think its a bit disheartening that we might not have a darkstalkers team...

*sigh* Why are video game developers so eternally blind to the possibility of compromise? No Demitri because of his transformation moves? Um, how about not giving him transformation moves?! I have been jus dying to see my favorite 3 Darkstalkers chars in a VS game since MvC1, John Talbain, Frankie, & Dimitri.
Darkstalkers definitely needs better rep. MvC2 was ok but I was not satisfied at all with the inclusion Anakaris & B.B. Hood.

I totally agree with you CONSTvariable23, Nitsuma and many developers today they take the easy way out and exclude things in games that we want to see. Saying many Darkstalker characters transform with their attacks translates to, "We are lazy and don't want to put any effort in creating characters that would fit into this game, but you can have most of the Capcom roster from Tatsunoko vs Capcom". I loved that game, but I don't want to see many of them return for MvC3. I just got a feeling that once we see Frank West, just like Joe we will be left empty and wondering what character could have really been added.
For me, cyclops was the face of X Men as a kid. Not wolverine or Xavier or even magneto. Cyclops just looked the coolest and was most recognizable. Plus there's no harm in putting him back in its not like he plays like Cable or anything.
Damn, I really want to see Cyclops the most. (And The Juggernaut, too.) If neither of them get in, I'll be sad. At least I have Frank West.

You will see that Nitsuma said, "Why can't DarkStalker Characters walk without changing!?" WTF? If this isn't the most piss poor excuse I've ever heard. Darkstalker characters don't change when they walk, they had detailed animations in everything they did. Like I said, he's just being lazy. I thought the MT Framework engine would be able to handle such things. I just don't believe his excuses. I'm still anticipating the game, but there seems to be no variation in the Capcom side except Ammy and Dante.

All they did there was take her from TvC, her moves show that. it was a simple paste with a fresh coat of paint. Nothing wrong with that, but I really feel that he is over exaggerating the whole Darkstalker thing. I still can't wait for this game though!

A point of 80's are not enough weight to include a character in a roster of 30 +. That storm will be in the game? I suppose so, but not because he was leader of the mutants,

cyclops is....ok. i kind of see him like ryu. nothin to flashy (except his optic blast) but he gets the job done. its true that he's the X-Men's captain but Storm was the first. if i had to pick...i would side with Storm. then again there's no promise that she'll make a return. the way i see it Thor sorta takes her spot. just my opinion
The only reason I say cyclops is that in terms of the marvel playstyles he was original even if he was somewhat of a shoto
they took bland mr. everyone-hates-me and turned him into a viable option. as opposed to spiral who had that... sh!t, they she somewhat shared with shuma gorath and omega red's slightly predictable moveset, as much as i love those two.

colossus doesn't exactly bring alot to the table. in a team conflict under marvel or rpg he's the tank great. but he's somewhat like rogue as well
psylocke and marrow brought something new to the table, despite the fact that marrow is almost an unknown nowadays
out of 28 characters on the roster, you had maybe 17 representing the X-Men/Mutant discipline, and many of them were of course recycled from previous games, some where the full or half of the roster were mutants,so it's not like originality was the reason for their conclusion. Given that they won't be completely recycling everything this time around, I'd say its a great way to represent the X-men and mutants in general than the Super Cool Cancer of Marvel that it was portrayed in the previous game.
While i didn't know that Storm was the first leader of the X-Men [and i'm taking your word for it as opposed to doing the research], until she is OFFICIALLY announced we have one rep for the X-Men, and two mutants in the entire game.

granted he's my top 3 marvel chars of all time, but he doesn't exactly scream x-men... because he keeps getting rejected. and the other one is Wolverine, who's down for the cause, but admittedly, thats one of many things he's always got going on. between his son, his solo adventures, and x-force and whatever i left out, he's not exactly the MUTANT LEADER figure that Cyclops is. He was their when Xavier went missing and he's the headmaster of the school, as well as got them all through the toughest recent times.

Storm wasn't the first leader of the X-Men, Cyclops was. O_o She took over in the 80's when he left the team...(and the fact that a powerless Storm was able to beat Cyclops in hand to hand combat...yeah, sure.)
I'd love to see more of the rest of the Marvel Universe this time around. Marvel has such a huge cast of characters that aren't mutants, its time to spotlight on other things for a change.

If Cykes doesn't get in he's prolly going to be the first dlc char. Plus, he's not officialy de-confirmed.

way i see it its virtually pointless to ask for characters. this game's been in development for sometime now. they've already shot down any hopes of Darkstalkers characters bein in this game. sure we can post comment after comment but in the end...they have the final say. i got a couple of marvel characters i want to see but they're the ones makin the game. also marvel has the final say in who represents the marvel side. same with capcom. its somewhat depressing i know but im bein realistic. like i said i would like to sse a couple make their return but marvel has the final word, not me. just my opinion

Except she was the Leader of the X-Men and that's fact(not subjective, which doesn't make sense) . Cyclops isn't the only person to lead the X-Men.
Also, it wasn't just in the 80's,She has lead the team and other X-related teams. Btw, the "New to comics" wasn't an insult, it's just that any long time Marvel fan knows Storm has lead the team.

Prof X is sending in just Wolvie, Black Bolt would be sending in Silver Surfer if it weren't undeniably A FAVOR for Uncle Reed Richard who had to go... blow a alternate reality dolphin or something. Namor... nothing as usual, Strange is pulling a Richard and phoning in his enemies as well. But leave it to Stark to blackmail the Avengers minus street captain Luke Cage, even as a striker for Kung Fu boy Iron Fist. That guy, unlike Ike from Brawl/FE, has friends to fight for.
how can you have an x-men team without a leader much less 3 x-men. With Cable i could see the father/son thing, and then even he'd at least have something to say to his old partner Deadpool. Wolvie and DP right now are missing out on team Weapon X... feels to me their falling short on a lot of their team dynamic opportunities with this SO far roster. Maybe it's gonna blow us out of the water when all is revealed [and the future DLC i'll buy without second thought], but then again... look at how many people jumped ship with [S]SFIV

The Avengers cover alot of group in the Marvel Universe and they also represent their own series( Iron Man's series, Cap's series, Hulk's, etc.). The Avengers are also Marvel's top selling books at the moment and have a movie coming up(plus Iron Man's successful movie series). And again, Cyclops isn't the only X-leader.

Prof X isn't sending Wolvy on anything(it's Cyclops doing that),Namor is fighting vampires, Black Bolt was ruler of the kree, Strange is helping out the NA with some mystical stuff and Stark is rebuilding his company and going to the future with the regular Avengers(He isn't blackmailing anyone, unless you mean the Civil War stuff, but that's in the past after Dark Reign). They aren't "doing nothing".
