IGN posted a solid article examining Street Fighter X Tekken a bit more, and also the other cross over game Tekken X Street Fighter. How familiar would, say, Street Fighter X Tekken feel to a seasoned Street Fighter IV player? "As you can see on our logo," said Ono. "We're not specifying Street Fighter IV or Tekken 6. We're not going to confine ourselves. It is going to be Street Fighter and Tekken, and that includes all the titles." Harada chimed in with, "I'm sure that the graphical look of the game might change and the gameplay elements and such will be quite different. For each of our franchises it's not like each cross game is just going to be a continuation of our individual franchises. It's something that's going to be quite different."
Thanks to Saiferoth for mentioning this.
"For the Street Fighter franchise, all their fighters are very unique..."
*laughs*
i would be interested to see me some makoto and juri in the game. balrog vs steve would get me stoked. dudley would be cool too i guess.
I was thinking about CvS2 the other day. I miss Maki & Rock Howard...
@ 8:
I don't think it's just parrying. If you look at the demos, they're showing a lot of subtle mechanics to the game. One in particular that I find interesting is Kazuya dashing and dodging an attack. This could infer there are either cross brand mechanics (tekken characters will have that dash/dodge and SF will have parrying) or, something along the lines of both.
Instead of parrying, I think it would be something like it, but more like the focus attack mechanic like in SF4 series. Keeps the game more on the offense base that way. Then again, these are just from what I've seen in the vids that have been shown as of now. I could be right, but I could be wrong. We'll see what the future holds though.
Sounds great! InB4 Troll.
