Ono: DLC updates for Super Street Fighter 4 coming

Ono: DLC updates for Super Street Fighter 4 coming Yoshinori Ono held an interview back in July with the official UK PlayStation site.

In the write up, Yoshinori mentions again that there won't be another iteration of Street Fighter 4 released, but that more downloadable updates will be made available, similar to the tournament mode package they released in June.

This prior DLC update not only added a new mode to the game, but also included various fixes and changes.

It was stated at San Diego Comic-Con this year that there would be new costumes released in the fall. Also, new characters are being created for the arcade version, and it seems very likely these fighters will be added to the console versions at some point via an update, considering Ono's statements.

Current rumors claim there will be 6 fighters added to the game, although only two extra slots have popped up so far.

Here's a copy and paste from UK PlayStation interview, which also includes other notable things.

Will there be additional tweaks made to the arcade release of Super Street Fighter IV and any of the characters? If so, would those changes make it in an update for the PlayStation 3 version? (Delriach, UK)

Ono: The arcade version is at least going to be a perfect port of the console version. Whether we can add some extras to it will depend on the players' passion and whether we have enough energy to work through the nights. If we do make some changes to the arcade version, it is not impossible to apply the same changes to the PS3 version. However, as I can't get down to it yet, I have to ask you to wait for a while.

Are you going to place a search option within the replay channel, in order to search by friends? (Gerwulf_, Spain)

Ono: I have received this request from all over the world. I appreciate that many players are utilizing the replay channel. As for a search option, we regard this as a priority area to sort out.

Are you going to release any other Street Fighter IV titles or is this the last one? (Morphing, Spain)

Ono: We don't plan to release a Hyper or Ultra SFIV. SSFIV is the last major update, and we plan to release small downloadable updates like we did in June 2010.

Is there any chance that the next update could include an option to disable input short cuts and allow for more accurate inputs? (Solas, UK)

Ono: We are not going to include the option for the next update as both input short cuts and accurate ones are already accepted as a part of the SSFIV rule book. However, if we have an opportunity to change the rule book in the future, we would make the system to be fair for all users with different input preferences.

A huge shout out goes to Ashstampede for sending this over.

Disabling shortcuts would probably benefit Hakan the most. As it stands, a backwards jump followed by a QCF+P or DP+K turns into a massively dangerous whiffed 360 )unless you carefully let go of the stick first)...

It's like kicking the poor man when he's already down...

it'd also help those spammers learn their place and also give a chance to the people who actually want to use characters like the shotos(especially gouken and his Tatsumaki overlapping with his counter)

A search function in the replay channel would be neat, but there needs to be privacy settings for those that wish to use them. I, for one, don't want my friends (or anyone else) to be able to look at 50 replays of me without my permission. Sometimes I'm trying to learn match-ups and suffer some pretty embarrassing losses. I just want to kick back and practice without having to worry about such a thing. Not to mention, it's just going to open the door to hundreds of "HA HA LOOK AT THIS DAIGO (GAMEINN) LOSES TO A SCRUB" YouTube videos. I'm not saying you should be able to hide individual replays to make you look better than you are, but maybe add an option to be hidden from searches and for that duration (before you'd know their outcome), any matches you play won't have the replays available to searches.

Ex_kin I always liked 2nd impact better than 3rd strike. They made ibuki crap in 3rd strike IMO. 3rd strike is over rated. I still own my dreamcast version of 2nd impact one of my favorite games on the system other than mvc2,rival school and snk vs capcom

Chun Li has everything she needs...if anything she could be toned down a tad.

@15 yeah she is already top tier and you want to buff her?? she has a insane speed, have very good combos, jump very high ant that give she andvantage, have 1050 for stun, and have very goods pokes, good fireballs, kikosho can simply combo from jumping hard punch, so.... I think instead of buffs, she needs nerfs

@22 and 23

You nuts? Do you guys play her? While I do agree tweaks is necessary for her absolutly NO NERFS FOR CHUN LI!! She just got the tools necessary to be up with the big dogs so let her float awhile. For every strength you name for Chun I can name a viable weakness. They also nerfed her already another nerf tone down woudl be overkill.

Kikosho is fine but I do think it needs to have better priority over certain moves when used defensivly (Not in a combo or reversal). Other than that she is fine.

Whoever asks for Chun Li improvements is either retarded or a plain fanboy.

Some other characters don't even have the option to choose between an anti-fireball Ultra and a comboable one (if they have any, that is).

@24

I dont agree with any nerfs or buffs to Chun, she is top tier though, so the original point they were argueing against (increasing Ultra 2s damage) is defintely right. Kikosho is low damage because of its amazing combo opportunities

chun-li's fine the way she is. no nerfs or buffs needed. no 'improving' on damage for her ultra 2 because it has great ways to combo in. its call balance. give a character an easy way to combo in his/her ultra in exchance for reduced damage when bein comboed in.

#28
Default avatar
mr_e said on August 20, 2010 at 6:03 a.m.

also ther's no need for any (infinite?) loop combos for anyone.

Rave_Zero said on August 20, 2010 at 6:11 a.m.

I agree Chun-Li is absolutely fine since SSF4.

Ultra 2 does less damage, but it gives you much more ways to combo or to catch the opponent compared to Ultra 1.
+ Ultra 2 has very neat chip-damage. No buffs, no nerfs required at all.

Fix Hakan instead
- his grabbing-moves sometimes don't work at all, even at very close "nose-to-nose" range
- his normal slide-move should go under fireballs
- his jump-grab and super-grab move should be cancelable
______________________________________
Next to be fixed is Makoto
- all her EX moves should have 1 hit absorb to be able to punish fireball and light punch spammers.

Default avatar
StrayX said on August 20, 2010 at 6:47 a.m.

@33

I main Makoto, and although I do agree she totally sucks compared to the rest of the cast, any EX moves with hit absorb will put her into god tier.

Her challenge is to get in (Sorta like Zangief... but with a different approach). If you can do that with a single EX move, then she'll kill everyone pretty fast.

#31
Default avatar
Rave_Zero said on August 20, 2010 at 7:01 a.m.

@34

I get your point, still there are only 4 EX bars, which have to be filled "somehow" before usage and 1 hit absorb won't go thtrogh EX fireballs or other EX/2-hit moves, that's why I think it could work out.

Other graplers like Zangief/T-Hawk/Abel have far more options to get close, even without EX moves.

Of course there has to be some testing before patching.

I main Gen too and yeah they really made Gen extra weak this time around. He is a beast in the right hands, but he is really complex to master. There was no need to make him baby chicken-tier.

Also like the replay searce option idea.
Voting system with chracter specific top replay section would be cool.(In the randam selction box)

As for the two slots we see open currently, I'd hope for Karin for sure, and either Rolento, R. Mika, or Charlie. I just hope they don't try to give us any more new characters and then disappoint... Like Hakan. :/ No offense, Hakan players. Just my opinion on the red guy.

When the tweak, update, or addition occur, I'm wondering could they add more stages (such as a stage in London, somewhere in Central Europe, the Caribbean area, and another large city like New York), have Chun Li's dress blow and move for her Ultra Combo II as it does in the other Street Fighter games and not be stationary (other characters too if they have that motion as well), give Ibuki's Kazegiri 4 hits like in Street Fighter 3 and another combo with her High Kicks (combo does 4 hits), allow the players to finish off or hit an opponent like in Street Fighter 4 =^D, and finally the 6 characters (Elena, Rolento, R. Mika, Alex, Karin, and Yun/Yang). This is wishful thinking, however would be lovely if it happens. Let's see =^D

#45
Default avatar
Hadododouken said on August 20, 2010 at 4:20 p.m.

@45 Perhaps, but wouldn't armor-breaking Hayate be kinda cheap? Or even really cheap?

@46 Haggar, Hugo, AND R. Mika? Adding three more grapplers is not necessary at all. I mean we have Fuerte, Zangief, Abel, T. Hawk, and... well, Hakan. If they're adding another, it should be Mika. And isn't Hugo in the background of the skyscraper stage? Or is that just some huge hulking guy in pink who LOOKS like him? I'd also just remembered after my previous post that Charlie/Nash is well, dead.

Who says chun li cant have great speeds..Well of course, chinese martial art always have great speeds of walking and that true never changed. By the way I agree with (xShonuffx), as she already been ton down, and if nerf again, i think she gonna get lots of trouble with anti air characters. However, who say chun cant needs udgrade....her stamina take lot of damage once she get hit by other strong characters, and every other character has a better damage ultra, why cant chun can udgrade her ultra 2 kikosho damage a little better....

"Well of course, chinese martial art always have great speeds of walking and that true never changed."

Lol you're retarded. Since clearly you know nothing about real martial arts, I'll make it simple for you by giving some Street Fighter examples. Mantis Gen and Fei Long aren't anywhere near as fast as Chun Li.

Also, how would nerfing her give her ANY trouble with anti-air characters? Not that I think she should be nerfed or not be nerfed, but you just sound stupid.

well said whatever u can.....i dont know much about martial art so u do then....i learned chinese martial art wing chun since i 8yrs old. Well chun li always get trouble with character with anti air and that true. if toned her down more than she dont have a chance to win. Have u played her if not keep your mouth shut. Plus ken and fei long using different martial fighting style not similiarly like wingchun.

its been said: there's simply no need to nerf or buff chun-li. she has all she needs to stay competitive. pure & simple. anyone asking for nerfs or buffs just need to study the match up. get a friend who's good with her & spar till you get a good idea of how the match flows. i'll bet you'll eventually see some cracks in the chun armor. as for those asking for buffs (lookin at you chunli___KIKOSHO)....you know what...nevermind i bet your not gonna listen to reason so i'll just leave you to your deluded hope of an 'improved' chun-li with killer U2 damage. have fun
