NowGamer.com picked up an interesting quote from one of the Mortal Kombat developers, Hector Sanchez, at GamesCom. He reiterated that the a mash up title between the two franchises had been pitched by Ed Boon, one of the co-creators of Mortal Kombat, over ten years ago. That S*** would be terrible, leave them both in their own lane.
I stand firmly against this Bull**** crossover.
Besides, SF is everywhere now, and granted the fighting game genre has made a comeback, but you don't wanna stretch it like that.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Very presumptuous of you Sanchez.
Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter is something only Americans wish for.
Mortal Kombat simply does not have the following in real fighting game circles because its always been a gimmick game about fatalities.
Plus it is built on westerners views of mixes of Asian cultures like a big unauthentic plate of sweet and sour pork.
Street Fighter is uniquely Japanese and full of integrity. Notice Ono's tweets and how many times he says mk vs sf aint happening. I would definitely disapprove this move too. Capcom is leagues above this crap.
I would love to break off Ryus head do it capcom!!!
SF vs MK: Not gonna happen. It shouldn't happen. I can't see Ryu blasting off someone's head.
SF vs BlazBlue: I would like for this to happen, but I just don't see how the Drive system would work for the Street Fighter characters. BlazBlue is built on each character being UNIQUE, something SF noticeably lacks.
SF vs Virtua Fighter: THIS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K-5ZY... Although I personally don't like VF, it could happen (from a technical standpoint).
@MrNiK
Street Fighter is "uniquely Japanese?" Pffft. Let's look at Arc System Works' games for that.
I'd rather see SF vs MK than SF x Tekken anyday. While the MK franchise has been lacking depth in its gameplay recently, it makes more sense for a mashup between two 2D games instead of one 2D game and one 3D game.
I think MK wants to see it happen, but Capcom has its nose pointing a bit too high.
lol. look at all the MK hate comments...so uncalled for.
Why are ya'll so invested in one game rules all? Bunch of lamer gamers acting like a bunch of high school preps. Who gives a ****. If you think it's stupid then don't buy it, don't open your elitist mouths and keep people who actually want to enjoy a game from having it happen.
Calling MK a dying franchise is wrong in every meaning of the word. The past four MK games have been best-sellers, and Mortal Kombat is outselling the crap out of Tekken in the United States. Let's not forget that MK has been a thriving in European markets since its inception.
Though I still find the crossover doubtful. I've always gotten this feeling that Capcom never wanted anything to do with MK.
@MALDA
Right now, I can't stop myself from laughing at the stupidity of your post. Other than the character designs, you offer no reasons for why BlazBlue is such a terrible game. You also conveniently ignore that Street Fighter has it's own outlandish characters (Blanka, Hakan, almost everyone in Third Strike), and that it also has an anime-styled look, which makes sense because both games are DEVELOPED IN JAPAN.
Even so, I stated before that the crossover couldn't work anyway. Not because of the character designs, but because BlazBlue's fighting system is designed around everyone being completely unique, rather than half the cast having a variation on the fireball/anti-air combo. I just can't see what any Street Fighter could possibly have as a Drive attack.
But if Capcom and Arc System Works can do it without it being utter rubbish, then by all means, they should do so.
I see that MK wants to ride on SF's current success with more bullcrap crossovers. MK developers are clamoring for Capcom's attention while Capcom doesn't want anything to do with it.
With that said, I'll never be happy until they get CvS3 in the works.
Hopefully it does happen. I would love to rip out Ryu's spine. Seriously: Sub vs Ryu, Scorp vs Akuma, Goro vs Zang, Shao Kahn vs Bison, Kano vs Blanka, Kitana vs Chun, Mileena vs Juri, Liu Kang vs Fei Long, Sonya vs Cammy, Nightwolf vs T Hawk, Jax vs Balrog, on and on baby.
Plus you know, since Capcom would be involved, the gameplay would be top notch. This would be infinitely better than SF x Tekken. My god, who is actually hyped for that.
Capcom vs SNK 3 is inevitable that's got to be done, that's generally the best crossover that Americans and Japanese and others are looking forward to.
But what about Sega vs Capcom Akira meet Ryu. Axel Stone meet Cody, Vector Man meet Mega Man, Sonic vs Amaterasu, Guy vs Shiva. Max Thunder vs Zangief,Blaze Fielding vs Chun Li and not to mention other games. This is the crossover I want to see.
It's funny with this fanbase and their crossovers.
When TvC: CGoH came out, you all wanted it overseas.
When TvC: UAS came out, you complained that it wasn't MvC3.
When MvC3 was announced, you complained about the controls and asked for CvS3.
I can only imagine that it's going to go full cycle if that last game gets announced (which I somewhat doubt, as CvS is a game that appeals primarily to hardcore fighting game enthusiasts).
About F....kin time!!
People have been demanding this crossover for well over a decade. 2 Arcade Classic Fighters. This is more like it.
If there's a God. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!
My Dream as a young boy was to uppercut Ryu into the Acid.
I wouldn't want this to happen because I'm sure Capcom wouldn't allow a game to be made where you could rip out Ryu's spinal column or have Guile Sonic Boom someone's head off.
Instead, they would have to cut down on the violence just like they did with MK VS DC, and that would ruin the whole experience. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some immature 16 year old that needs blood and gore in my games to have fun, but when bloody, brutal violence is the major selling point of your franchise, then it feels like a neutered experience to put out a game that doesn't have it. Mortal Kombat VS Street Fighter is best left to online flash videos. There's no reason to have a game made of it.
Dont dare to do fatalities on sakura n makoto...! Just dont dare..!
@23 Blazblue and SF both have flamboyant characters. If you meant gay SF got 1 maybe 2(eagle, zangief? juri is bi) and blazblue has none. If you meant acts stereotypical gay then guile (fixes hair a lot) dudley ( likes roses and tea) Vega (everything) Makoto ( looks and acts like a boy) Ken (hair, pink cowboy rides seth) E.Honda ( shows crotch and throws it in peoples face) Hakan (ultra 2)Able (alt costume)
Instead of making all these crossovers they should just make a console version of mugen with characters from:
SF
MK
KOF
KI
TEKKEN
that would be a sick game lol
@41
1. Their lawyers would be busy for years straightening out that mess.
2. Who plays Killer Instinct anymore, or even recognizes characters from there?
I think that Street Fighter vs Blazblue (or Capcom vs arc works) is a good concept but i agree the drive issue would be a problem if it was SF vs BB but it could change up a bit if it was Capcom vs Arc works just use the control scheme without drive and just add some more special moves with the drive effects or normals with special effects for the BB characters thats all just a idea though. But i still feel is MVC3 is epic way to good of a thing coming for people to be saying capcom needs to give more caue MVC3 is giving a lot. Also if they decide to do another VS game sequel please please do Capcom vs SNK 3 that would be just as if not more epic than MVC3.
Another thing i like the idea of MKvsSF but its to much work for a product that is far less wanted and far lower in quality than MVC3, Capcom VS SNK, SSF4 DLC (characters), SF X Tekken, Darkstalkers sequel etc. There are to many better options to want MKvsSF to be any bit a priority for capcom
Oh god I have waited so long for this crossover. I'd be all over it. Granted, I think they would probably cut back most of if not all of the over the top violence, but it would be worth it just to see Liu Kang vs Fei Long, M. Bison vs Shao Kahn, Baraka vs Vega, and Guile vs Sonya.
I don't know. To me, they've (the MK franchise) already proven to us that they can't work with anyone else. MK vs. DC Universe was okay, but it would have been 100 times better with REAL fatalities. DC wasn't willing to let their beloved characters get mutilated by the Mortal Kombat ones & I'm sure Capcom feels the same way.
Mileena eating Chun-Li's face off? WTF? MK should just do their own thing. It's not much of a fighting franchise anyway. Their thing is over-the-top violence & without it, the games don't really have anything to offer that you can't get from ANOTHER fighting game. To this, I say "nay".
So now that Capcom pretty much single-handedly revived the whole fighting game scene, MK devs want to leech off of SF popularity? Freakin lazy bastards!
They should be trying to make a couple of MK games that don't suck by themselves, instead of trying to suck off of SF popularity with a crossover. At least Namco has been very active all these years with Tekken and Soulcalibur. *sight*
honestly, i'd just be happy with a rated M Street Fighter game. But, i think SF vs. MK would be great! Blanka's head bite grab would transfer very well.
m. bison vs. lui kang: whose bicycle kick is stronger? lol
or the obvious fei long vs. lui kang
or fei long vs. johnny cage (bruce vs. chuck)... cuz they're both actors lol
cammy vs. sonja
gen vs. tseng sung (sp?)
blanka vs. goro
t. hawk vs. nightwolf lol
....any more?
HELL NO. I don't EVER want to see this happen. I am vehemently against this crossover. Capcom can make all the other crossovers but if they do it with MK then I will sh*t a brick. Of FURY.
The last thing I ever want to see is Chun-Li getting her head ripped off. MK is an absolutely terrible game. This must not happen at all.
@17 You just defeated yourself with your own comment because if there's one thing that'll discourage a game from getting made it's the promise of awful sales. Thus if enough people are against the game they won't buy it and Capcom won't have any incentive to make it. It works out perfectly for all of us.
The thing that is killing Mk is the fighting engine/system,the moves connect too awkwardly.
SF has been in too much mix up. We need something fresh like KI vs MK, it'd also be cooler to put the mk fighters in the Killer Instinct engine (which was a neat engine with the combo brakers and all)
Alright Kiddies it's time for me to put my hat in the ring. As you have known I DEFENDED Street Fighter X Tekken and even the rumored Nintendo vs Capcom. So you are most likely expecting me to defend this game idea right? Nope! Let me explain why this would never happen/work. 1 Ono said NO 2 Capcom said no in the past. Now I will rant about MK it's self. The MK series was NEVER good. The characters are BLAND with BLAND moves even since GAME ONE. What saved it the controversial Fatalities(IE blood and gore) as a kid who grew up in the time this came out it was the FIRST game to do this kinda blood and gore stuff. As a kid I thought it was cool...but as I grew older I noted how SLOPPY the controls and gameplay where. I have played the 3d ones(I actually own Armageddon) and the gameplay has NEVER gotten better. The animation is still sloppy looking. Back in the day it can be accepted due to the graphic style but 3D models!? NO! The newest game(based on the trailer) STILL has POOR animation and it looks like a shinny version of a very dated game.
Now some of you wonder why Capcom would say no(repeatedly mind you) to the idea of them crossing over. From what I see it is because of tree things. 1 MK series is doing pretty poorly these days and never did well in Eastern countries(which Capcom HQ is in) and thus see no money in it(game design IS a business kids) 2 They may now want to see their characters being brutally murdered. The game has always been T and this would ALIENATE some players as well as people who just don't like blood and gore.(once again sales issue) 3 Capcom has NEVER liked MK yeah they don't like SNK that much either which is why you should read up on how that crossover even happened.
Now would I buy this? No I HATE the MK series
Heard people bringing up BlazBlue so I am ending with making fun of it and becoming an enemy to their fans..BLAZBLUE IS A TERRIBLY OVERPRICED AND POORLY DESIGNED GAME. Ahem now I am waiting for the "THEY ARE ALL UNIQUE" BS! Being unique is NOT the same as giving everyone a projectile that works only slightly different and shaping it differently. And it is DEFINITELY NOT UNIQUE IF ALL BUT NOEL AND MAKOTO ARE RIPS FROM GUILTY GEAR! The game had 9 fighters when it was first released and cost 60 bucks...too small of a select. Then the Super SF4 version came out and added 7 more..no wait 3 more and the other 4 are DLC and cost you 7.99 a pop. For all the people who complained about buying Yoda in SC4..he was 4 bucks. For the price of a CHARACTER in BlazBlue you can buy a FULL GAME. If you want to play BlazBlue but GOOD, pick up Guilty Gear. It trumps it in EVERYWAY
@56 have you even played blazblue?
things you got wrong
1) The game cost 40$ not 60$.
2) 12 fighters when first released (Continuum Shift 15 + 3dlc)
3) They are unique and projectiles are a small part of game for all but 3 people. You can't win with just projectiles.
4) every character has a GG counter part but they are all very different.
5) Yoda was on the disk (charged for nothing no work) and they waited to sell him so people would buy 2 versions of game.
@56
I doubt you've played the game either, or at least researched the facts properly.
SF has been a dead franchise for about 10 years . It is only in 2009 they were able to revive it . MK has been active in those 10 years and each games sold at least 1.5 million copies .
I dont want to see this happening . Because SF sucks and Because Ono and Capcom are really afraid that MK would kill SF now just like how it did 17 years ago .
F**k off Crapcom .
@59 are you really this stupid or are you just a troll?
Street Fighter IV single-handedly revived the 2D fighting game genre and gave arcades a resurgence, something that your precious gory fighting game for idiots and 13-year olds couldn't possibly hope to accomplish no matter how many games it ever released. Enjoy your lifestyle of playing MK, listening to linkin park and hating your parents you prepubescent sh*thead. Nobody cares that you've mastered the spectacle of ripping people's heads off, come back here when you're ready to play a fighting game for grown-ups that requires you to actually know what you're doing.
@Drunkendan MK has some of the most unique characters ever created. NO character has the same move. You cannot give me one instance where this is true. It has never happened. In Street fighter, Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Dan, Akuma, Gouken and Sean ALL HAVE HADOUKENS, the same fuking projectile!! They do have original characters, but thing is, Mk is a sh!tload more original. SF has created 4 games in the actual storyline, mk has 9! I love street fighter, but dont make fun of my mortal kombat.
@63 Oh yeah? That's really funny because Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke, Noob Saibot, Ermac and Rain ALL SHARE THE EXACT SAME PUNCHES AND KICKS. The only thing they have DIFFERENT from each other are their projectiles. So MK is guilty of the same thing you're thinking of, except worse because they're more unoriginal by a much higher margin. Having one move in common among several characters is much less condemnable than having all your normal moves exactly the same among several characters. MK is absolute trash and should never be mentioned in the same breath as any other Japanese-developed fighting game.
In fact, three of those characters even share the exact same spear toss move where they yell "get over here!" (Scorpion, Smoke and Noob) so that's even more unoriginality on their part. And then there's Kitana, Mileena and Jade who also all share the same normals.
I'm sure if it happened, they could pull it off well.
