Also, Yoshinori Ono jumped on his Twitter account to shoot down one more character possibility, albeit a long shot, for Super Street Fighter 4's arcade release.
capcom better announce a demo for marvel 3 because its ridiculous. we can't even play this game unless we chase them down around the country -_- a demo to come out like at the end of december would be great! even if its the same 3 characters, a mirror match with ryu wolverine ironman for both sides i won't mind. just playing the game would be fun

just a few questions...
1. When was poison a playable character in any SF fighting game? (No I'm not counting the FF fighter for the PS1, that is way different from a normal SF game).
2. Poison would be a REALLY weird character in the game. You would only have few games to go by to get any idea of how she would play. What would she be like in SSF4?
and 3. I'm surprised no one made this joke yet, but when was Poison ever a "she"?
Poison was always a she because she had the underboob and as a result was cut from the home version of Final Fight.
I'm glad Poison isn't going to be her own character, though I wouldn't care if she appeared with Hugo in the same capacity as III. I just don't want a character slot wasted on her when exponentially more fans want other characters. I don't even like Karin, Yun, or Yang that much but they're recognizable and representative of their respective series. Poison was just some goon you beat with a pipe; she wasn't even "a character," there were several of her. The same could be said of Hugo, but he was based on a legendary professional wrestler and later made into more of an individual homage like Fei Long is.

No Poison was changed to a man in the english version to make marketing people happy about violence to women. The whole tansexual / transvestite was never in the original japanese release she was just a female Mad Gear member. Some crazy people just got on the internet and tried to invent a rationalization for the change in the two versions.
Definitely looking forward to some reveals.
Viewtiful Joe is probably part their next big MVC3 reveal, and R. Mika and Rolento are probably shoe-ins for the SSF4 arcade release, considering what Ono's said in the past.
Though I could be wrong about Mika and Rolento. Truth be told I can't think of any other characters that I couldn't live without, truthfully. Sure, it'd be kind of cool to have other characters to play as and against every now and then, but I'll probably just end up sticking with who I always use.

I want Elena because she was the character that made me actually like the street fighter series.. im not that good with her in 3rd strike because I wasnt in the golden age and not many people play it these days but her fighting style... juggles and resets.. pokes and footsies.. healing ability and wake up game which leave players guessing wether your gonna sweep, overhead, kara throw or bait them...

Poison's first appearance in Final Fight featured her and a palette swap character named Roxy as recurring minor enemies for the player to fight. Named after the band by an unnamed female employee at Capcom, she was designed by Akira Yasuda to contrast against the bigger characters in the game and move about randomly. According to the book All About Capcom Head to Head Fighting Games, the characters were originally planned to be female, but were changed to male transvestites (or more specifically "newhalfs") due to the suggestion that "hitting women was considered rude" in America and the concern that feminist groups would sue.
What? Capcom's afraid of confusing ppl? Is that why there's such a coherent easy to follow storyline in SF? gimme a break. The violence to women thing is decent cause didn't Nintendo make that one egg shooting enemy in Super Mario 2 into "a boy who thinks he's a girl"? i'm sure theres precedence for attiking chicks in games but what is more believeable is having to cut out cleavage and sexual stuff for the American Super Nintendo version. There were more changes made like Hagger's dialog in the front end cinematic. Poison's original design is female.

Poison actually is playable in the Final Fight Revenge fighgting game but I wouldn't be surprised if no one has played it, she used a whip for special moves. Poisoon was also planned for Capcom fighting All Stars untill it was canceled. So she does have a move set Capcom could work with for her character, but thier are many others I'd rather get the chance to use.

Poisen could have been good, who knows how Poisen would have played - but the potential to create an entirely new moves list could have allowed for a totally unique play style in ssf4.

Poison was a guy dressed as a girl. It was confirmed in Capcom Collections volume 2. Believe me if Poison was actually a girl, there wouldn't be as much interest. Just look on the Capcom boards sometime, there are a lot of promoters for him. I agree though, it's silly to have Poison in this game.

@ Bison: Oh, and Capcom changes their mind about "Official" things all the freaking time, one example being Gouken's death. he's dead in one game, and alive in another, and lets not get started with the rest of the loopholes and inconsistencies in the Street Fighter storyline.
I agree with #51, Why would you waste a character slot for an evil ryu? evil ryu is great in capcom vs snk but make the same character with slight differences like a raging demon and a red metsu Hadoken is just mudane. Personally and I think a lot of people will agree with me is Rolento and Sodom have very unique play styles and will be quite interesting in super if they put them in. P.s no one talks about Remy. Remy is so much better then guile and would make more sense put in super then charlie.

As someone had suggested a good while back, I thought maybe it would have been interesting to see a new moveset on an old character. Poison, being the perfect candidate would be a great addition.
Adding more of a variety in terms of appearance as well.
Something about using Ryu's body + Ken's head + etc. can also get pretty boring to see.

Final Fight is not represented enough in Super 4. I'm hoping they throw SOMEONE from that series in (El Gado? Rolento? Sodom?). Heck, I'd even settle for another Rival School character.
