Capcom's Christian Svensson and Seth Killian made a few follow up posts on the Unity Boards recently. How come Capcom doesn't patch stuff that's a simple fix? There are bugs that can be solved quickly, yet they still remain in your games, why?
Sven: [...] What you think is a simple fix, may actually be a simple fix for a few of [our] guys to execute in a weekend. But to patch a game requires a full test pass on our side to ensure that that fix didn't break anything else, and then submission to [Sony and Microsoft], who in turn also have to do a full test pass to certify the update. [To make] even the smallest change, it's tens of thousands of dollars in man hours.
In short, there's no such thing as a "simple fix" on a console.
There are no female characters on the Marvel side for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. What's up with that?
Sven: Patience... 8)
The Suggestion Box on Capcom-Unity is being spammed by requests for Phoenix Wright in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Are the people who want him in the game helping their case by doing this?
Seth: I understand it can be un-fun to see the same suggestion multiple times, but the approach of the, "We really want Phoenix Wright in MvC3," crowd is not helping their cause at all. Everyone is free to create their own suggestions, but the number of times some variation of the same suggestion appears in the box has no significance. [...]
While the system is automated, WE'RE not automated robots, so while we use the system to help sort the popular suggestions, it's not like spam is somehow going to confuse us about which issues are important to most people.
There are currently a bunch of great suggestions about the Suggestion Box in the box itself right now. Some are in progress, and there are other suggestions in the box also in progress, but unfortunately we can't discuss those. :D
One [thing] that did get an assist from it's consistent Suggestion Box popularity was SF3: Third Strike. Hopefully some of its features will also be shaped by the better ideas from the Box as well.
Will Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition will be available in Asia, Japan and Europe?
Sven: Europe and Asia, almost certainly... Japan, still under discussion internally (I hope so).
We want SF3 Online Edition to use GGPO. A bunch of people added their support on several threads.
Sven: I've previously passed that other thread to the team and the producer, so they're aware of the requests there (and the interest in GGPO).
" Everyone is free to create their own suggestions, but the number of times some variation of the same suggestion appears in the box has no significance. [...]"
Then why the hell do you HAVE a suggestion box if MANY people are SUGGESTING something that you choose to ignore!? God, if THAT many people are suggesting something, why don't you adhere to what they are suggesting!?
@4, I think (nay, I hope) he means the same individual spamming the same request repeatedly. Otherwise, I totally agree with you even though I don't want Phoenix Wright in the game. If so many people want him in, then come on Capcom!
@2, your comment is painful to read. Do you write that way because you think it's cool or do you have a brain hemorrhage?
@2
If people are asking for a character who hasn't been in a fighting game before, they can sure as hell make up a fighting style for them. Perfect example would be Frank West, Megaman Trigger and Jill Valentine.
Neither of them were in a fighting game, but they all were equipped with trademark items and kept true to their original title, with an ENTIRELY made up moveset. Take the Super Smash Bros. series as well, who ever thought we would see the Ice Climbers fight, Fire Emblem characters move outside their RPG setting, and Link jumping and using his feet to attack?
If people want Phoenix, I'm SURE they can make it work.
Response to #3 and add ing to #5 (They really need to create a default for replying here)
Yeah vote up existing suggestions but the community needs to decided on what is the best suggestion. So for example you may want to pick the most educated, most detailed suggestion of why PW should be in the game vs "We Want PW in MvC3...PERIOD." then get the community to vote it up.
1000 votes on one suggestion is better than 100 suggestions with a couple of votes.
So adding to this instead of going on those pointless sites doing petitions, why not just get those same petitioners to go to Capcom-Unity and vote up on a specific suggestion. That would make the most sense and saves time and energy.
@ xShonuffx (a Youtube style reply method will have to suffice for now :P)
Then it's up to that community to gather a decent game plan to prepare for the suggestion box instead of a bunch of people on the same team trying to hump one doorknob. I might need to go over there myself and try something instead of a bunch of people running around screaming that they want Phoenix.
@ Triforce
You're awesome *Super thumbs up*
@#8 Triforce
That's exactly the point. If few people actually played AA, then Phoenix isn't a very popular character and just because a very vocal (read spamming) minority wants him in MVC3 doesn't mean he's popular enough to be included.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against including PW in the game, actually I thought he'd be included, but I can see where Seth is coming from.
@ Clovr4Lyf
Did R.O.B have attacks when he was nothing more than an accessory for the Famicom? How in the living fu(k did they create a moveset for him in Brawl, according to you?
How about Tekkaman Blade in TvC? Totally new, completely different from Tekkaman, they had to build him from the ground -up. Megaman Trigger? Same thing. Roll? NEVER HAD ANYTHING SHE USES IN TVC In *ANY* VSs GAME SHE'S BEEN IN!
Bottom line: They. CAN. make. it. HAPPEN!
Too bad Capcom doesn't just throw up polls to the fans intermittently during certain development stages of the game for certain characters to make it into the game, essentially giving out 3 options to choose from each time. And whatever character gets the most votes makes it into the game.
This would be over the course of like a 6 month period. They could announce the game, decide which characters they want in for sure first, the ones they're undecided on let the fans decide by voting.
@ Clovr4Lyf
Oh my god, dude, you are so dumb!
WHEN did I ever say Tekkaman Blade was AN ENTIRE NEW CHARACTER MADE FOR TVC? I freakin watched the first couple episodes of Tekkaman Blade! I'm talking about models and movesets! That's what we were talking about!
Another thing, comparing Smash Bros to this is a PERFECT example for this argument, and it's completely valid! Taking someone who DOES NOT HAVE ANY FIGHTING BACKGROUND and making them "fighting capable" for their game. I'm NOT saying Phoenix has the "right" to be in this game, for any reason, but Capcom, neither can you for this matter, COMPLETELY rule them out! Anything is possible when it comes to this kind of mash up!
Of course, taking what they have already and just translating it to moves and what not indeed makes it easier for the developers, but who knew a Resident Evil character would have zombies and birds as part of their moveset? Phoenix could use MANY things the same way Frank West uses many items and zombies as assists. (I.e. Weapons that were evidence, a gavel, speech bubbles for anti-air, a shockwave from slamming his hand on a desk WHATEVER!)They can make it happen, probably not in time around for MvC3, but it CAN happen!
So closed-minded!
@ Gameplan
I didn't know just as well as you didn't know about Amaterasu being in MvC3 when it was announced, because NO ONE saw it coming! Never in ANY forum discussion did I see someone ask for an animal to be a part of the cast, because the thought never really crossed anyone's mind. How she made the cut is beyond me, but at least she fits and is right at home, and that's what matters. There could have been just as many people pulling for her to be in it the same way some are pulling for Phoenix to be in it, we don't know and we might never know, but 9/10 if you ask someone if you ever thought Amaterasu would be in a VSs title, they'll probably say "What the...?"
@Chun Li:
Seriously, your comments are making me laugh.
First let me point out some things about some of the characters you've mentioned. Ones that you say "didn't make sense" to be put in fighting games.
Rock Volnutt/MegaMan Volnutt: Equipped with multiple weapons, an arm cannon, and can fight using his arms and legs. According to the games he came from.
Frank West: Guns, swords, baseball bats, human body parts, hell anything he can grab ahold of. Including his own martial arts techniques (to an extent). According to the game he's from.
Roll: In Rockman Rockman (MegaMan Powered Up), she was given the broom weapon. (Which could be changed to a katana, a fish, a bat, etc., depending on what costume she's wearing) So there goes your "they gave her a broom" comment, seeing how they had moves ready for her in advance.
Now Phoenix Wright.... Geez, even if you were to analyze the ever-lasting f*** out of him in the games, the most you can get out of him as a moveset is that he f***ing points and yells. Even Fran von Karma would be a much better candidate, seeing how she uses a damn whip for God's sake. -_-
Whenever I see people go nuts for Phoenix in MvC3, I just have to facepalm.
And you wanna know why? They want a character who basically adds nothing to the game. Not to mention, they can't come up with a proper reason as to why he should be in besides "people like him" and "he was never in a fighter before" <-this reason right here kinda kills their argument.
At least Amaterasu comes from a game where she actually used special techniques and fighting moves.
god forbid they actually listen to our requests...
clover you are dumb, if you don't think capcom has people that could come up with a move list for FW than you are truly stupid.
PW is totally a lame dumb character!there are sooooooo many other way better and more deserving characters than him.uhm lets see anybody from (capcom) Darkstalkers(besides felicia morrigan),Mega Man or Mega Man X,Breath of Fire,Cyberbots,Tech Romancer,plasma Sword,or JOJOs BA, franchise is better/makes more sense for a fighting game,not to mention marvel characters who deserve their shot at fighting capcom like:Carnage,Dr Octopus,Nightcrawler,Bishop,Silver Surfer,Arch Angel,MR Sinster,and Morph just to name a few.PW is probably the last character that should be included.
btw i meant PW sorry, i don't play the game. anyways I don't think PW should be in the game, but i'am just saying that they could do it if they wanted.
Honestly, I think Mega Man X is also pretty stupid.
Why? I'm sick of the rabid fans going ape-s*** for him. I want Capcom to f***ing put Star Force Mega Man (Shooting Star Rockman) JUST TO SPITE them! XDDD
Ok, it's time for me to tackle this.
First, I think its a great idea to have that wolf from Okami in MvC3, bringing in lesser known characters is a plus in my book. With that said, why is it impossible for Phoenix to be in the game? Many of you naysayers argue that he wouldn't be able to do much past yelling and pointing, but think, its not as if Capcom hasn't stretched the truth before with crossovers.
For instance, since when does Megaman turn into a giant robot (in his games) or Jill have a charging move where shes surrounded by fire? Phoenix has an item called a Magatama (I think you spell it that way} given to him by a psychic. So why can't Capcom do something crazy with him such as giving him psychic attacks (Yu Yu Hakusho anyone?) all we have to do is think outside the box.
ppl complaining about the "tons of people requesting the same thing in the same exact way" have probably never used the internet before. Or they're too dumb and naive to think that there are bots that can be made in minutes which spam forms, and also that there are people with so much time that they manually perform the same task (99% of keyboards in america have ctrl ( or ), C, and V keys). Never underestimate a troll's ability to put on his coolface.
@36 i disagree Mega Man X has s!!t loads of powers/power ups and watnot,plus i mentioned ANYBODY from the particular franchise it doesnt have to be him,it could be Zero or a boss character for example,plus if u think mega man x is lame thats cool, but u cant even compare him to PW,PW"s stupid character meter is off the charts compared to a character like X.@37 I agree
@Clovr4Lyf
Edgeworth would call your arguments "not exactly the shining example of the perfect line of logic."
While it's not our job to be the creative minds at Capcom, I'd still like to point out a couple of the suggestions for moves I had a while back.
Think about it guys
You're a company like capcom, you take ideas from your customer base and you really appreciate them, so you love to hear new ideas. Now the community comes up with an idea that for whatever reason you dont agree. Now its your company and you should have a decision on your product, but you still respect your community so you want them to give you a ton of more new suggestions rather then that one that you dont agree with.
Isn't that fair?
I don't expect PW because that case is already closed (lol), but really there is no reason he couldn't have been in the game. Heck word for word I essentially said what spinryu said in another section on this site.
Also to keep the smash bros comparisons going (because I like to annoy illogical people) how the heck did they make a moveset for a character from a driving game? Captain Falcon was the closest thing to a nobody I can think of when smash 64 came out. I really doubt most people at the office were like "hey we need a racer in this game. F-zero is notable who is in that? Lets just pick the first car you can choose. Hey lets give him huge flaming punches, exploding grabs, and something funny oh I know he says "show me your moves" when you taunt". Ever since then Captain Falcon has a pretty good following with many more fans than a nobody ever deserved. To top it all off he was fun to use. In Fighters megamix for Sega Saturn you could use a Daytona race car as a fighter. Heck Phoenix has already done a lot more individual movements and has a lot more props than the original Captain Falcon or a race car.
@ Clovr4Lyf
Alrighty, you want to play, I'm game.
1)Lv1 Hyper: "Watch out, Nick!": Tribute to Apollo Justice, the car that ran Phoenix over rockets on screen, Phoenix rolls over it, has opportunity to hit/run over opponent for multiple hits. Comes out as fast as any Hyper in the game thus far, can be great after a knockdown via Aerial Rave (I.e. Hulk's Gamma Wave after Aerial Rave.)
2)Lv 1 Hyper: "Hold it!": Effect:Counter. Phoenix shout "Hold it!" and frantically searches his suitcase for something. If Phoenix is not hit during this animation, nothing will happen and he will be open to attack. However, if Phoenix is hit during this animation, he will get knocked down and his suitcase will spill it's contents, revealing a murder weapon in previous PW games. He uses it and deals moderate Lv.1 worthy damage.
3)Lv 3 Hyper: Magatama: Effect: Dash/Grab. Phoenix's Magatama shines brightly, says a line like "We'll do this together, Maya!" and he hastily charges forward to grab his opponent. If successful, Psyche-Locks will appear all over the opponent and the screen goes dark...Phoenix breaks all the Psyche-Locks once after another, Shun-Goku-Satsu style, the opponent crumples after the attack is done. Does a great deal of damage, it is very risky, but damage output can be higher than the average Lv.3 Hypers.
You made me write these damn things out now TELL ME THEY CAN'T WORK!!!
@ Clovr4Lyf
Another thing I NEVER said that Trigger, Frank West or Roll did not make sense, I'm saying THEY WEREN'T IN FIGHTING GAMES to begin with! Yet, they found the time to incorporate familiar weapons and fighting style according to their theme, all the while making them unique. This can also be true for Phoenix!
"That's like saying, "It doesn't matter how many times people ask for a popular idea, we choose to listen to the things we find interesting."
#And that is a good thing to say. You do not want video games, or anything else, made by mob rule. You may think you do, but you wouldn't be happy with the results.
@ Clovr4Lyf
1)What about how Hurricane Polimar runs over his opponents with his car in his Hyper? Again, it can be taken in a comedic light, like him going "What the heck?" or saying something silly, doesn't have to be like "OMFG PHOENIX JUST GOT RAN OVER!!!"
2)Not necessarily sadistic, but as a self defense thing. Like if it was a wrench, or a baseball bat, or anything they can use from the games at all (Helium Tank, for argument's sake) and just does a quick, painful combo with it. Like, once it gets spilt over, he says something like "I told you to Hold it!" and just swings wildly.
3) Thank you! I thought of that myself, not to say that the other two were copied or anything, but I "HIGHLY" doubt anyone would think of Phoenix breaking Psyche-Locks in a Shun-Goku-Satsu manner. If Akuma doesn't make it in, this could be a hilarious nod to him.
As for other moves, here's some thoughts:
Quarter turn forward: "Evidence" Type: Projectile.
-Phoenix throws a random piece of evidence forward across the screen. Light version makes it travel half the screen, Medium is full screen and Heavy throws it diagonally upwards, can be used as Anti-Air. Can be used in the air, Light will throw it downwards, medium will go diagonally , heavy will go across the screen. (1/3 Assist Options)
SRK motion forward: "Gavel" Type: Dragon Punch
-Phoenix uses a slightly enlarged Gavel and whacks the hell out of the opponent. Heavier the button pressed, the farther he will go up (Standard SRK rule).
Half-Circle Back: "Desk Slam" Type: Off-the-floor
-Although there will not be a magic desk that appears from nowhere, Phoenix slams his palm on the ground, making a shockwave that bounces the opponent off the ground. Similar to how Ryu has that Joudan Sokotou Geri (Sliding High Kick) that allows him to continue combos after they bounce off the wall, Phoenix can continue combos after they bounce off the floor. Floor bounce effect only happens once in a combo, any repeated Desk Slam results in normal damage.
(2/3 Assist Options)
SRK motion back: "Objection!" Type: Temp. Stun
-Here it is, the Objection. Similar to how Frank West comes and flashes his camera, Phoenix shouts "Objection!" and allows him to continue another string of hits. Another Objection in the same combo does not add stun effect.
(3/3 Assist Options)
(With the way i'm designing him, I can see Combo -> Objection! ->Continue combo -> Desk Slam -> Combo ->Launcher ->Aerial Rave -> Watch out, Nick! Damage scaling is a bitch, but it'll show Phoenix isn't ANYTHING to mess with.)
Again, totally possible.
Phoenix Wright could use pieces of evidence from his games as attacks, like that clock statue or that spear in Ace Attorney.
#47
Tell that to the people who made Jojo's in Capcom. There were like 4 characters whose moves entailed running people down with cars, steamrollers etc. There was one whose stand even shot cars out of the ground.
With all the violence already on video games, especially in GTA etc, I don't think people will care about it.

It's never easy to update your own product when the way the public gets it is through a line of different sources. Tens of thousands of dollars in man hours though? MAYBE for all companies involved... I could be wrong though =/

Why would you think Sony/MSFT would spend their own dime to ensure a fix for a screwup by a game company doesn't result in more screwups? Odds are to submit a patch to Sony/MSFT there's a fee you gotta pay them to test it out.

Valve constantly updates Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Alien Swarm. Yes I realize it's on a PC.
Maybe it's just me but I find it a little stupid and a lame excuse that some cheaper method of patching can't be devised for a competitive game such as SSF4.
I love your fighting games Capcom but come on there has got to be a way.
http://www.destroythecyb.org/blog/wp-... here's atleast the pic of Medusa
@Poke
PC is also the highest case of Piracy,and requires the most patching and again they said it has to past a whole mass of test to make sure it still works, I've had PC games that were patched that ended up worse off until it got another patch to fix that bug, on a console you don't have to worry about NEW game crippling bugs because with all that checking and policing by both Capcom and Sony/Microsoft(and soon nintendo with the 3DS, which will be patching and interfacing). So your validated is a neglected platformed at least
@ Clovr4Lyf
1) Thank you
2) Not to be "Savage", come one dude, just another piece of homage to his games. Why SHOULDN'T he use the Gavel that ultimately decided the fate of everyone in his games?
3) Come on, when Phoenix slams down on that desk, you would imagine he breaks his hand every single time doing so. Again, it's a VS's title! They can take liberties for a character every now and again. Did you expect Roll to scrub the floor so hard that flames erupted on contact? Frank West only shot normal shots in Dead Rising, how the hell did he have a Shinku Hadouken death beam in TvC? Liberties, my friend.
Who said he HAS to have an IMMEDIATE connection to the plot or the game itself? How in the living fu(k did they squeeze DAN into the Street Fighter canon? Oh yeah, Sagat killed his dad, not before he took an eye out first, swore revenge ever since, Gouken rejected him from his teachings because he doesn't teach for revenge/to kill, resulted in his retarded fighting style. WHATEVER!!! A silly SNK joke turned into canon? Please, if THAT'S possible, ANYTHING is.
Who said he needs to be unlocked from the start? He could be an unlockable character for a little something extra to play with, sure he'll have an ending, but doesn't have to be featured in any cut-scene that this game may/may not have.
Last thing, I'm speaking out the same way others have spoken out about their opinion. I'm NOT saying "OMG CRAPCOM PUT PHOENIX IN NAO!!!" but rather stating how I feel. I could care less if he makes it in or not. I don't know why you sound like you're getting frustrated, how can I get mad at something that isn't even out yet? I'm still going to get it, and I know i'm going to enjoy it, with or without Phoenix. I'm only saying this so you, and others, can have an open mind to what is entirely possible.
Clovr where did the nemesis line come from? I'd like to see a source on that. They only took him out because they wanted to do a new character from the newer game in the series(in which he doesn't appear) and why make 5 models (Jill herself, the crow, the dog, the zombie, and Nemesis) when you can make one with different weapons(Chris)? it saves TIME AND MONEY! If they were going to add anyone I'd think they add the Excutioner
>_>
<_<
Time for a moveset of Shooting Star Rockman! :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~
SPECIALS
Rock Buster - Hard Attack (can be held for charge)
~
Rockman fires his Rock Buster in the same fashion as previous VS series Rockmen have done so. The no charge version is a small green shot. At Lv1 charge, it becomes a bit larger. At Lv2 charge, the projectile is blue with three hits. At Lv3/Max charge, it's two times the size of Lv2, purple color and deals 5 to 7 hits depending on screen distance dragging. The charge aura around his Buster arm changes the same color as the projectile is going to be. Can be cancelled into another Rock Buster shot if done just before landing. (MvC1 Rockman-style)
Fist Combo - QCF + Attack button -> two times for full
~
Rockman dashes forward a short step and uses a left/right hook, doing the command again will cause him to do an uppercut. Distance and punch-element depends on Attack button pressed. Light = Poison, Medium = Electric, Heavy = Ice
Rising Sword - SRK + Attack
~
Rockman will slash upwards with Wide Sword, will hit multiple times at closer ranges. Similar to Batsu's Guts Upper. Medium or Heavy Attack button pressed makes him step forward a little bit. Can be followed up with his Lv1 Hyper - Elemental Cyclone.
War Rock Slash/Beast Swing - QCB + Attack
~
War-Rock will appear and slash at the enemy. Different Attack buttons pressed will make War-Rock appear closer or further away from Rockman. Can be stopped if opponent can hit War-Rock before he slashes.
HYPERS
Lv1 Hyper: Atomic Blazer - QCF + two Attacks
~
Rockman will change into Fire Leo momentarily and fire a large beam of fire. Hits multiple times. Similar to Shinkuu Hadouken and Real Mega Buster.
Lv1 Hyper: Elemental Cyclone - QCB + two attacks
~
Rockman will change into Green Dragon momentarily and spin around in a big green tornado. Has a vacuum effect. If it connects with opponent, they are hit multiple times then flung to the far edge of the screen. Similar to MvC1 Jin's Typhoon Hyper and TvC Ryu's Shinkuu Tatsumaki Senpukyaku.
Lv3 Hyper - Magician's Freeze - HCB + two Attacks
~
Rockman will jump up into the air and fire Rock Buster shots at a 35 degree angle below him. If opponent is damaged by any of the shots, the Hyper begins. He will then transform into Ice Pegasus and freeze the opponent with a gigantic glacier, then charge a large amount of energy into his wings and fly right through, breaking the glacier in half and damaging the opponent. Full Hyper does around 50% HP (character and damage scaling dependant)
How's this sound?
F*** WRIGHT he's out that's it life without PW in MVC3 with chance of appeal or parole. Just from this perspective if they add him in now, they have to hire back on concept artist, character programmer and artist and stop a few other characters they might be working on and take time off them(and maybe cancel one or more of them) to build this one character who might not even be that great since he was kinda of a rush job that no one planned on doing
@ SaitoKojima
("You can do this...you can do this...resist the urge...that's it...forget Shooting Star Rockman exists...forget Capcom decided to throw away 20+ years of foundation to the RockMan series of being a side-scroller that was actually fun...forget that they made it into an RPG following the Battle Network failures...You can...do...this...")
AGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*Ahem*
Sounds like a mighty fine *twitch* moveset you got there, good work.
@ Ex_Ein
Who said our efforts ULTIMATELY decide on them putting in another character? Who's to say they have the full roster planned and they are waving "Vote contests" and suggestion boxes to mess with us? To see how we react? Might want to think about that, don't get so upset and technical, we're talking about a VIDEO GAME here.
lol. I laugh when people try and say SSR was bad. Just goes to show how much they DON'T want to accept change.
Sorry if you 8-bit/2D platformer Rockman elitist retards are too used to MegaMan II to the point you can beat Airman without him even appearing onscreen, that when you're asked to try something new, you hiss at it like a cat hisses at water.
You do know it's the retarded fanbase like that, is the reason why Rockman games are now almost at a standstill? Capcom has gotten so sick of the *****ing from these fans that they have NO CLUE what to make now. If they do another 8bit Rockman game, the fans will say they're being lazy. If they just do another Collection game, fans will complain. If they try something new, they will complain that it's not "a true Rockman game".
Hell, look at MegaMan Universe right now. We don't even know what the game is going to be like, and yet the fans are ALREADY *****ing about it.
Seriously, this is exactly why I love poking fun at the fanbase and PURPOSELY mentioning their "nemesis" SS Rockman. Because unlike them, I can find the good in all the franchise's games. And personally, I found that there were a LOT more GOOD things about SS Rockman than bad. A LOT more.
At around this time a few years back, we'dve gotten a bunch of announcements for new Rockman games coming out. Hell, just four years ago, we used to get at least 3 a year. And they'd all be top-notch games in their own ways.
Now? We'll be lucky if we get anything else than MegaMan Universe, for the next 3 years.
@Clovr4Lyf
I know 3 year olds with a better imagination than you. If you don't like PW then don't play him. You'll have at leasr 29 other people to choose from. Like people said, anything is possible...I mean damn...who honestly knows how Silver Surfer fights other than fly around?
Hell I don't want R. Mika in SSF4 but if she makes it, lame but gives me another character to smash in until people start crying about how she sucks and go back to throwing fireballs and uppercuts again who in turn will get smashed just like every other day. Simply put, I'm just not picking her.
@ SaitoKojima
Eh, don't get me wrong I tried the newer games, just couldn't do it. It's just not MegaMan, to me. Like, it was just too big of a difference, maybe it was just the presentation. Look at how Super Mario had it's RPG spinoffs, they turned out great, their biggest secret behind successful games? Presentation.
The Battle Network's story was just...Okay, instead of robotics, they developed the internet and programs and supercomputers and whatnot, so right from the get-go I thought to myself "Okay, this isn't the classic story of Megaman, got to not think of that, it's it's own game now."
The story and gameplay was just off, and didn't appeal as much as it did for you, i'm happy that you can find the fun and value in those games.
When it comes to them not knowing what to make, I still blame the whole damn thing on the team who produced MMX6. (which was released without Keiji's Inafune's knowledge, as he worked on the Megaman Zero series) I can backtrack everything to that game's release that Megaman games in general just...were not the same. They experimented with this, messed around with that, tried this mixed with that...
I'm excited for Megaman Universe, it seems they are incorporating many aspects of many Megaman titles, we could see classic Megaman all the way up to the Star Force in there, who knows? I can't wait to hear more about it, it sounds like a cross-generation of Megaman festival, with twists, of course.
@ Clovr4Lyf
With a release date of sometime in March, this late in development, i'm almost 100% sure that they have the full cast planned out. It's all tweaking, adding bells and whistles from here on out. If he does make the cut, that's Capcom's decision, and they'll have to live with dealing with the necessary expenses. If they do it, it's because they *chose* to do it, none of us put a gun to their head and said "Put him in, now", so they don't have to if they can't. Even if they don't, they'll still have all of our money, so it won't matter.
If people aren't supposed to make duplicate suggestions, at least let us search or link directly to existing suggestions. How are we even supposed to see or find existing suggestions in the hundreds of pages of them????? I get the sense the 'suggestion box' is mostly an ignore box so people feel like they're being heard.
the marvel side is going to destroy the capcom side either way. what would make these vs games more fun is actually playing as characters that are not in fighting games. filling it up with a street fighter cast would be stupid. the same as just using x-men to fill up the roster. i hope its a great cast at the end when they show the full game. so far I'm not even a die hard fan of any of the guys in the game. im sick of the same faces all the time
Ignore the post above.
@#27: You know damn well that's not going to happen. This is not an "adults only" game. This would most likely be rated T for Teen, as it's designed to target towards that age group.
To the person who wrote at #28, #74 & #75: I most definitely agree with everything that you wrote. I just wish fans out there would grow up & learn to deal with it. Those that constantly whine about things like this are being too stuck in the 90's - 2000, especially in the case of people wanting those same outdated sprites for MvC 3 in which came from X-Men: Children Of The Atom through Marvel Vs. Capcom 1, & that was from 10-16 years ago! That's another thing that I wanted to point out.
I'm very glad about these new sprites, as well as the new backgrounds, because it seems more fitting for this game. Oh, & let's not forget about wanting 50+ characters. Quantity DOES NOT make it better than quality, people! The only reason why MvC 2 had such a large cast to begin with was because that most of those sprites came from X-Men: COTA through MvC 1 & that it was so damn easy for Capcom to do.
This is a brand new, different game altogether, & that's what people are going to have to get used to. Look at other fighting games like Dead Or Alive 4, Soul Calibur 4, Street Fighter 4 & Super Street Fighter 4, both Blazblue games, King Of Fighters XII & XIII, the new upcoming Mortal Kombat game, Samurai Shodown Sen, Virtua Fighter 5, Virtua Fighter 5 R, Tekken 6, & the upcoming Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, Street Fighter x Tekken, & Tekken x Street Fighter. All of those games had new engines, updated sprites & backgrounds when it came to 2D, 2.5 D, & 3D games, which is something that systems that were below PS3 & 360 par definitely COULDN'T handle. So, why not do the same for MvC 3?
And coming up with newer hand drawn sprites for those characters, etc., isn't very easy for them to do, like it wasn't easy for SNK Playmore to do with KOF XII & KOF XIII. That's why we had such a smaller cast for those games, as well as for both Blazblue games. So you can't expect for MvC 3 to have over 36 characters at the most.
The days of old 2D sprites for characters & backgrounds/battlegrounds & the days of old 3D sprites for characters & backgrounds/battlegrounds before PS3/360 are history.
I just don't understand why Sony / Microsoft have to do their own certification for _patches_. I get that they want to make sure games check out on release day, but their patching guidelines are obviously way too restrictive, costly, and time consuming to make patching what it should be.
wtf yall need to focus on the marvel females bez the game is going to be unbalence. imagine no females on the marvel side capcom is going to win. now i got a suggestion for the marvel females.
elektra(fast attact with sai and shrikens)
she-hulk(super strength and h2h combat)
rogue(absorb ur abilities and rapid punches)
good set of marvel females
It's never easy to update your own product when the way the public gets it is through a line of different sources. Tens of thousands of dollars in man hours though? MAYBE for all companies involved... I could be wrong though =/
