RodneyT and zUkUu pointed out a three part video interview with the Japanese voice acting cast of vanilla Street Fighter 4. These clips have been subtitled.

It's kind of cool to see the actors who portray the characters we know so well, as they give a little behind the scenes insight into the voices of the game.

sweet!

I love seeing voice actors at work. If only I cared more about the Japanese voice actors. :( Still, nice video.

Posted by Chunners on August 6, 2010 at 8:21 p.m. #3

The English VA's would have been far more exciting. There might be two people on this board that actually speaks Japanese, though all the weeaboos think they do.

Posted by petey_did_it on August 6, 2010 at 8:22 p.m. #4

that ken actor talked like HE was married to ken, not eliza

Posted by zUkUu on August 6, 2010 at 8:24 p.m. #5

i waited SO LONG for something like this. pure awzum <3

I really enjoyed that.

Sakuras voice actor is cute as hell

Posted by Phoenix_Reborn on August 6, 2010 at 8:36 p.m. #8

These were awesome to watch, though I wished that the other characters did more impressions like what the Ryu VA did during his closing statement.

@zUkUu

Thank you, added this in and also credited you.

Interviewer: What was your first impression of Viper?

Mie Sonozaki: My first impression? ...Humongous breasts!

Posted by NA on August 6, 2010 at 9:02 p.m. #12

@Chunners
I'm not sure I follow. Why would the English VAs be more exciting? The English and Japanese VAs both do the same job, and they are both in the game. To hear from either side is interesting stuff.

Wakamoto, awesome as always.

Posted by OhYouDontSayThat on August 6, 2010 at 10:18 p.m. #14

this is really weird cause the other day me n my bubbies were talking alot about what the voice acters could look like compared to the character:

biggest shock = sagat

Posted by CypherFDP on August 6, 2010 at 10:31 p.m. #15

I would have liked to seen the SSF4 VAs too, but I'll live.

Posted by Benichon on August 6, 2010 at 10:58 p.m. #16

Thanks for these clips. I love japanese voices because more powerfull and correspond to characters than english voices. It was fun, so thanks again.

Posted by Ex_Ein on August 6, 2010 at 11:17 p.m. #18

it's weird to see chun's VA I like how the Ryu VA said the Shoryuken line at the end of his, and the ken VA mentioned carving his own path, because that's ken's goal to not just master what his master taught him but to make what he wants out of it

Posted by Ex_Ein on August 6, 2010 at 11:23 p.m. #19

Dhal's voice actor threw me off with his recording voice and real voice, and the physicality of E. Honda's voice actor really threw me off

Posted by RunningWild on August 6, 2010 at 11:31 p.m. #20

Wakamoto is such a troll, he sounds the same in every role he does lul.

Posted by Ex_Ein on August 6, 2010 at 11:44 p.m. #21

Sagat's VA's physical build is strange when you see such a big voice coming out of it.

Balrog(claw) is cool just want to hear him do an EYOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW

Bison(boxer) was prefect in physicality, and after interview that I hope he said "TIME TO GET PAID"

Gouki/Akuma......BAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA he's balding and looks like a sterotypical nerd but voices such a badass

Dan's prefect though I wish the VA looked closer to Dan

Rose's voice actor sounded very shy

Gen's is prefect, he looks like a younger Gen with his beard and hair cut down

C.Viper looked alittle more mature then I though she'd be SHOO!

Abel was prefect

Rufus through me off in voice completely

Seth was good as seth

It's really cool to see Japanese actors voicing characters.

Posted by Pnume on August 7, 2010 at 12:42 a.m. #23

Pretty nice to see the faces hanging behind these voices.

Ryu VA is pretty cool

Posted by ShinTenshi on August 7, 2010 at 1 a.m. #24

Smiled at Wakamoto saying he screamed a lot in past recordings as Bison. CVS anyone? PSYCHO CRUSHER.

Posted by Catalyst on August 7, 2010 at 1:03 a.m. #25

I enjoyed the guy who played Rufus and the story behind it in the 3rd video, pretty cool.

Posted by brujometal on August 7, 2010 at 1:49 a.m. #26

is this ryu or rolento?

Posted by SabishiiRyuu on August 7, 2010 at 2:06 a.m. #27

Norio Wakamoto is godlike. Anyone who has seen any animes knows that. None of the current gen voice actors come close to him and probably never will.
I also enjoyed Misato Fukuen as Sakura. She's pretty much a rookie, but did one hell of a job as Sakura.

Posted by Archaik on August 7, 2010 at 2:44 a.m. #28

Cammys VA was cute.

Posted by halo on August 7, 2010 at 4:33 a.m. #29

It's really cool to see that most voice actors in Street Fighter IV are also gamers and fans of SF themselves

Posted by Sohjirou on August 7, 2010 at 4:39 a.m. #30

"Street Fighter has had many glamorous female characters over the years, but we've NEVER had the boyish type."

I believe Makoto would LOVE to have a word with you.... I can understand if someone doesn't play sf, but please don't make such bold statements about a series you know nothing about, Miss Mie Sonozaki.

Posted by shinshom on August 7, 2010 at 5:51 a.m. #31

if only any voice actors in the world had 1% of dedication that japanese ones have.....

Posted by Nyoronoru on August 7, 2010 at 7:16 a.m. #32

I had no idea that El Fuerte's voice was Daisuke Ono. AWESOME.

Posted by Psycho on August 7, 2010 at 8:02 a.m. #33

#27 mmm kinda looks like rolento but i think it's ryu with his new costume.

Posted by SmashBros101 on August 7, 2010 at 8:42 a.m. #34

Sakura's VA stated Sakura was popular. Wrong.

Posted by seekerjet on August 7, 2010 at 8:52 a.m. #35

Ryu's voice is so badass.

Posted by McBison on August 7, 2010 at 9:09 a.m. #36

Awesome. I love Hatano's expression after seeing who he was playing lol.
Obese guy wearing...tights...and showing his...man boob belly cleavage... CAPCOM WTF! Seriously Capcom...
I hope they put up the VAs of the SSF4 characters soon.

Posted by AxlRed37 on August 7, 2010 at 9:48 a.m. #37

@smashbros101

sakura IS popular. who DOESNT like sakura? shes not commonly used, but that doesnt mean she isnt popular! thats what i believed she meant, and thats how interpreted it. of course, that is just me and I may be wrong.

Posted by Ex_Ein on August 7, 2010 at 11:04 a.m. #38

I don't like Sakura, she annoys me

brujometal that is Ryu doing his win pose

Posted by SaitoKojima on August 7, 2010 at 11:17 a.m. #39

#35:

Considering there were two major manga series, and a crap-ton of merchandise for her, I'd say that yeah, Sakura is a pretty popular character.

All in all, this was pretty sweet to see. A lot of the female VAs were pretty cute (looks and the way they behaved), though Sakura's VA has some... questionable teeth, no offense. XDDD

Posted by YourEveryDayJackAss on August 7, 2010 at 12:58 p.m. #40

Ah, Ken's voice actor, whose voice has tormented me with the thousands of "Shoryukens" I hear everyday.

Posted by MeleeMan on August 7, 2010 at 1:58 p.m. #41

Whoever said Sakura wasn't famous, you must not no much about japan. She's VERY known in Japan.

Posted by 3lectric on August 7, 2010 at 2:12 p.m. #42

@31.. this is vanilla sf4, makoto wasnt in this game. so no need to get ur panties in a bunch lol

Posted by SabishiiRyuu on August 7, 2010 at 5:27 p.m. #43

3lectric: you missed the whole point of what he said and managed to make a dumbass out of yourself. Re-read what he said... maybe you'll understand

Posted by RandomDP on August 8, 2010 at 12:26 a.m. #44

Anyone else think the way the Japanese language is translated sounds really strange? I mean, maybe something is lost in translation, but it just seems that this is like a literal translation of their words, which sounds really awkward in English.

Anyways, thanks for the vids. I would have liked them to do the entire interview in their in-character voices though.

This is probably a long shot, but any chance we can see something like this for the English voice actors?

Posted by Triforce on August 8, 2010 at 3:32 a.m. #45

Holy ****-put the Sakura voice-actress in a schoolgirl uniform and headband and give her my adress NOW!

Posted by chobi_pho on August 8, 2010 at 5:16 a.m. #46

looool the sakura va even acts
like sakura abit :D

Posted by anddudewaslike on August 9, 2010 at 1:48 p.m. #47

What I took from these interviews:

I needs me a Japanese woman

Posted by Tabris on August 11, 2010 at 7:53 p.m. #48

@35: SFIV was your first SF game, wasn't it? I'm going to guess that you assumed that Sakura isn't popular because she isn't popular as a character in SFIV since she consistently places towards the lower end of the tierlists. That and your name mentions (lol) Smash Bros, so it just makes me think that you're one of those shut-in Smash fans who has only recently ventured outside of Smash.

Anyway, Sakura is extremely popular, although it may not be apparent at the moment, Sakura has featured quite heavily in Street Fighter products since her introduction in SFA2. Obviously not as much as the classics, but she is up there.
