Seth: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom beat initial sales expectations Seth Killian was interviewed recently by Destructoid on their Bit Transmission podcast, which will be posted tomorrow. Until then they've been gathering select nuggets to tantalize readers.

In the latest roundup, Seth Killian reveals that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom beat initial sales expectations, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is going to keep adding characters and a few more things. Here are some excerpts.

"[Tatsunoko Vs Capcom] certainly beat the initial [sales] expectations. It didn't set any land speed records, but it was a success. And that's really saying something considering that we're talking about a game that was not only never coming out, but has a title that most people can't even pronounce." ...

"Right now, there are about 30 characters (in Marvel Vs Capcom 3). I get upset because I keep hearing people say 'Oh, so there's 30 characters in the game?' Well, yes, but they're also going to keep adding characters until we're done with the game... There are 30 characters right now. They're not all done. They're at various stages. Some are pretty far along, some have a long way to go." ...

On how closely Marvel Vs Capcom 3 may end up resembling the Wii exclusive Tatsunoko Vs Capcom:

"We'll be getting into one of the key things that makes Marvel (Vs Capcom) 3 totally different, or you know, a unique experience from Marvel (Vs Capcom) 2... I shouldn't say that it's (Marvel Vs Capcom 3) is totally different. Fans of Marvel (Vs Capcom) 2 are not going to be alienated by (Marvel Vs Capcom) 3." ...

"We're definitely not evacuating Tatsuonoko [Vs. Capcom]. They're quite different games. You're not going to have everything you liked about Tatsunoko Vs Capcom sucked out and put on another platform. " ...

I'm going to bookmark this page for the release next year to see If I'm right there's going to be at least 42 characters excluding the boss(es?) and one of Sigma or Wesker made it. ^__^

i think japan needs to realize that americans dont mind foreight properties.. its because its japanese that we like them. stop trying to appeal so much to the western audience and ruin ur games

This is the rough equivalent to when you were a kid and you wanted that Super Nintendo, and your parents said they would get you one if you were really, REALLY good.
So you were on your best behavior the whole year, not knowing that your parents bought you one a month ago to give you for Christmas.

2008: Capcom decides MvC 3
2009: Seth says, "If TvC sells really well, maybe another Marvel?"
2010: Capcom goes, "Hehehe."

Hook, line, and sinker.

I can't really complain though, because I love TvC, and technically they didn't lie. So, I guess, kudos on making TvC a success, Capcom.
