VideoGamesDaily.com caught up with Street Fighter 4 series producer, Yoshinori Ono, at an event in London. "Yes I always try and talk about Vampire (Darkstalkers) during interviews because I want to show Capcom that there is a demand for a new game," he revealed, before stating decisively in English: "I am desperate to make this game!"
While Ono likely has a solid amount of influence at Capcom, not everything he wishes to make a reality happens, as he tried to get Rolento and R. Mika into Super Street Fighter 4, which didn't pan out.
The piece later goes on to say that if fans want to see this, they need to keep asking Capcom about bringing out this title, as support from the community may decide if it gets made or not.
My problem with "letting Capcom know" is that there's no solid way to do so. Are we supposed to bombard their customer service emails with "WE WANT DARKSTALKERS!!!" and "WE WANT CAPCOM VS SNK 3!!!"
If they, and other companies, could give us a place where they would realistically look at for what the fans want, I'd be all for it. But I don't think petition sites and just posting on say Eventhubs and Capcom Unity is gonna cut it.
you know as much as i like street fighter i want to see new games being made, a step forward not recycling or going back and forward wit the same characters...while i'm looking forward to MVC3 and if they would make SVC3 it would be great, it seems capcom or snk are not able to make new fighting games with memorable characters such as samurai showdown (which they keep slaughtering it with every sequel that comes out)instead they use the same ol'formula over and over again to cover up their lack of potential to deliver a great new original fighting game. while darkstalkers is not a new game it was definitely some thing original instead of the same karate suit wearing fireball throwing gimmicky characters which the two mayor companies leading the fighting game genre seem to be doing nothing but coping each other and while keeping their loyal customers in a loop.
Nobody would by it (including me)...at least not compared to SF4 or TvC...
A new Darkstalkers game would be phenomenal. I'm all for it.
Well, if Ono (and the fans) keep saying that a new Darkstlkers is going to happen, then, someday we will see the official announcement any day now. That's for sure... but if they announce Capcom vs. SNK 3 I'm going to suffer from a heart attack.
Screw it.There's already MVC3 in the works and SSF4 just released. We don't need another Capcom fighter. They are AMAZING, don't get me wrong, but it's just too much awesome to handle at the same time lol.People will have to split between those games, and it will reduce the community for all of them.Besides, I don't think Capcom has the resurces to work on both MVC3 and darkstalkers in the same time, while still maintaining SSF4 and planing DLC and stuff.I know they have many departaments, but I don't think they have than many just for the fighting genre.
I'm concerned about this. As much as want to see a new darkstalkers game, I dont want the market saturated with crap games. SF is good because SF is the top of the line fighting game, for many reasons. Darkstalkers is an SF clone with slightly different mechanics. It doesn't really have broad appeal. I want the fighting game surge to continue, but I think that flooding the market with fighting games may just hurt our communities renewed popularity.
Plus, Ono is desperate for everything. He's also a deceiver. He's probably just trying to stir the water so that Capcom can make a quick buck off of a one-off DS game. I say put that effort into a yearly SF game; make SF the new Madden. (Except with the difference that SF is good.)
What is with all these remakes of past fighting game classics and favourites? Don't get me wrong, nothing is wrong with remaking and/or updating a fighting game classic for the new generation of consoles. However, I'd rather much see a completely NEW fighting game from Capcom with new characters and new gameplay mechanics and possibly new 3D gameplay than trying to re-invent the 2D fighting game genre over and over with SSFIV,MVC3,TVC among others. What I want to see is for Capcom to try to delve into the 3D fighting game genre once again (I know I know, i didn't forget the less than stellar street fighter ex series in the past); or develop a completely new and original fighting game.
In short, why keep on remaking stuff when I'd rather see them take RISKS and develop a completely new fighting game for the soon-to-be 4 year-old next gen consoles! C'mon Capcom, test your limits!
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this people.
I dont see it happening. It would be too similar to sf to justify doing it, it would be honestly simpler to just put the ds characters in sf4. They should be focusing on sf and the vs games.
Sign on any of these three areas if you want to help with the cause.

I agree with comment #33, we need something new not the same ol stuff recycled. comments 30 and 32 also have good points...ultimately the answer is not another sequel or crossover is a well timed new and original Series...and I for one like this 2.5-D style of what have you.

Talk to Justin Wong.
i remember when xmen vs street fighter, darkstalkers, and alpha were all being released around the same year, so for Capcom to work on another Darkstalkers while TvC and SSF4 have just come out along with MvC3 in development doesn't seem, to me, like an oversaturation of fighters.
CvS3 is my biggest anticipation. it almost feels like it's up to SNK to come through and agree on the cross-over's 3rd installment.
Darkstalkers would have to remain 2D, though, because of the unique animation and deformities the characters possess. the sprites and animations were beautiful at the time for the first 3 Darkstalkers. A freshly new updated Darkstalkers with fluid HD sprites and smooth like butter animations would be amazing.
kind of like the graphical upgrade from the Street Fighter Alpha series' graphics to Street Fighter 3's graphics.
Capcom, you're amazing.
Ono just wants to make something he thinks people will buy because he likes getting attention. He does all these interviews and makes stuff up so people will say "Ya, Ono, you're our hero!" and then doesn't follow through with it.
Does no one remember how many lies he made up about SSF4? Half the time he said something was going to happen, and it ended up just being a hypothetical that he was "pushing for". Why do we still listen to this guy like anything he says has any merit to it?
Rival Schools or rivals colleges
plus if cvs3 was being made people had wanted mvc3 bette
I'm pretty sure this is already being made, in some capacity. My guess is that Capcom had started knocking this idea around since the success of SF4. They are probably just waiting for Marvel 3 to demonstrate some success before really going whole-hog into a new darkstalkers.
@jupiter
That's not gonna happen. Darkstalkers 4 will most likely be in the vein of SSFIV and MvC3, highly stylized and fluidly animated 2.5D graphics in high definition.
A new Rival Schools would be nice. The japanese release of Project Justice was crazy, it had a great fighting system with a bunch of great characters. But on top of that it had an awesome single player mode. If Capcom can build on that and modernize it for an 3rd installment that would be great, and hopefully not cut it out for the US release(because as companies like Atlus and Aksys have shown, there's a market for it in the US nowadays).
I fully support CvS2 and 3S ports to PSN & XBLA akin to MvC2's. That would be wonderful.
I'd love a new Darkstalkers. If they can pull it off with something similar to the 2D 3D look they got going for MVC3, it'd be amazing.
I imagine L. Raptor's hell dunk would be hilarious with 3D embellishments. Hell, most of the game's super moves would be hilarious in 3D.
I would like to ask capcom for many things like power stone, dark stalkers and a new 3rd strike like street fighter...
But where can we go to ask them?...I mean I don't think they take you seriously in eventhubs, capcom unity ect.
I'd like if Capcom create a new IP that really takes advantage of their new SF engine. Also, I'd like to see the fighting game genre explored rather than just rehashing the same idea over and over again.
So, I'd rather have a new Darkstalkers/Vampire Saviour than 3rd Strike. You can create a new Darkstalkers with new mechanics and it'll be popular but there is not much you can change with 3rd strike and it'll just end up unsuccessful again.
@#3 Im with you on that :P , cant contact them for nothin , i think there jus buying themeselves time...
A new darkstalkers game wouldn't be worth it, because it would be trying to compete with the market of fast paced, mixup heavy, air dashing games (gg/bb/ah/mb), and they already have a big stranglehold on the market. It wouldn't sell well in the states, simply because of brand recognition (everyone knows the weird stretchy guy sim, and ryu and ken and chun, but who knows the darkstalker characters outside of morgan?)
If they released one of the earlier games on xbl/psn first, like vampire savior, then it might do a little bit better, but they should focus on getting games like cvs2 and 3s out first.

@Smorgasboard
you mean a new ip like a fighting game? New ips have trouble selling atm, because brand recognition has the game industry by the cojones . That's why you keep seeing companies push out rehashes, because people now are buying what's familiar (modern warfare, madden, guitar hero, halo, ff). Compare MVC2 (iron man, cyclops) 's sales on xbl/psn, to tvc on the wii(Gold Lightan? Doronjo?), which has a bigger user base.
