Justin and Daigo also played an exhibition game where they could only select the new fighters in Super Street Fighter 4. Here's that video.
Also, Daigo Umehara (Guile) and Alex Valle (Ryu) also played another set earlier in the day, which was uploaded to YouTube.
Wong actually has a chance if daigo plays nerfed ssf4 ryu. But if daigo picks top tier like wong is likely to do, then daigo will probably win yet again.
Hello im contributing to EventHubs check out GT pop-block trailer on Marvel VS Capcom 3 http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gt-...

Agreed, if Norio Wakamoto is there, then that would be the most awesome thing ever. **** yes!
When i type the address on goggle i get this... Photoboothrents.com wtf is that? did i do something wrong
Is this an actual tournament or will Daigo and Justin just be playing casuals on stream or something.
I'm less interested in who will win and more interested in which characters they'll pick. It could be an important barometer for the changes... and even if it's not, it's certain to be taken as one by a lot of people.
Hah, Wonderful!
It's bout bloody time wong gets raped once again.
Daigo will be sticking to Ryu, I have a feeling.
So the ryu haters can stop saying that he only picked ryu because people think he's god tier..
I'd love to see their faces, but then again.. they'd just find new reasons to whine at him.. Which only makes me smile.
Right on daigo, show'em.
True Justin had acccess to the game early but keep in mind for the Special Edition version in Japan which will have the Daigo exhibition matchs and show him using a new character which means he had access to the game early as well.He will stick to Ryu and will prolly use Guy as the new character
You're all bloody scrubs.
- Justin and Daigo of course have had their hands on the game, perhaps Daigo even more so as he probably had a hand in testing the game, as Japan's number 1 Capcom fighting game player and a legend in his own right.
- Ryu has all the tools and has no big disadvantages against any other character. Daigo has used him for over a year and the game hasn't changed that much in terms of the engine. Do you really think Daigo will drop him because he does 150 less HP when he does DP FADC Ultra? Sheesh.
I gotta say: The Dudley in that poster is evoking Rob Liefeldian Captain America memories. Some hardcore muscle boobage.
It's not much of a rematch considered the on going record between the two.
Also, yes Ryu has been nerfed but Justin's go to Rufus has also been nerfed.
That's not really an issue here.
Since it's not a major tournament I suspect both of them will pick a new character anyway.
Daigo is gonna lose since Ryu is ass now.
Why are people saying he switched to Ken or Adon? Did he actually say this or are you people just making crap up.
I AM A "DUMBASS AMERICAN" . . . but you know what?
We all know that online anonymity can make someone know everything, be brave, and generally say things that they wouldn't say face to face with someone but I guess we can add outright stupidity to the list.
Where are you from Zed? Japan? America? Why would you say "dumbass Americans can't play Ryu?" Is this a fact that you are aware of or just your enlightened opinion?
- If you are from Japan, you are showing a misplaced and arrogant national pride that is totally wasted on a videogame.
- If your from anywhere other than Japan, you are fighting a battle that all at once a.) doesn't care for your opinion or involvement, and b.) insulting Americans everywhere by making a false generalization.
- If your are Japanese, you are making a bigoted statement and insulting other Japanese by including them in your argument.
- And if you are American? LOL. Darwin talks a lot about mammals like you.
- You see, the point is this - No matter where you are from or what you are, you are insulting everybody involved in that statement - even the Japanese saying such an ignorant thing. Advice; Look up the term "blanket statement" and keep that sh**t between your and your r3tarded friends.
btw, the above is directed at Posted by TheZed on April 22, 2010 at 8:25 p.m. #40 who said:
"lol at everyone saying Ryu is bad when they don't even know how to play him. Just because dumbass scrub americans don't know how to use Ryu, doesn't mean the Japanese wont."
I've never been to one of these things but my friends are making me take them tomorrow. This is free for everyone to come right?
too many ignorant tards on this site now that its popular...
[insert scrub commentator]
MAN.. WONG IS LIKE NOTHING COMPARED TO DAIGO.. HES A JOKE! wong is a bitch, wong can't compete with a guy whos known to be the best in the entire world! hes the best in the usa, does alot to help poeple out but i still hate him cuz daigo is better! even tho im an american ill root for japan!! yay!!!
rawrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
eventhubs why dont u do something to deter all the crap that wong has going his way, he doesn't deserve any of it
WTF eventhubs!? i was comment #41 and you remove my comment about the dumbazz jap insulting american players but you leave his...?
FACKING BULLSHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know if this will be recorded? I won't be home fri but I would love watch these matches.
WITNESS THE BIRTH OF DAIGO'S MAIN IN SF5

a 'huge rematch' between daigo and wong?
seriously, get over it.
daigo has beaten wong multiple times.
its time to move on.
Haha, you a,most got me there CAPCOM.
On the PS3?
Dohohoho
2 top players playing super street fighter 4 i'll be watching and so probably will all of use so give the bitching a rest je**s and just enjoy it 4 what it is
on the ps3 indeed.
aint nothing like having your product pirated to kingdom come because the console is insecure hackable garbage.
but thats the price you pay trading in the quality for quantity.
The only reason PS3 ain't insecure hackable garbage is well, what would you pirate?
Games?
Haha.
@kingape: You like non-mainstream players, but you're a Jusstin Wong fan? He's one of the most mainstream players in America.
@everyone talking I'll about Daigo picking "god tier": What's wrong with picking Ryu. That's his living. Wouldn't you want to pick something that gives you an advantage to make more money? Ryu fits his playstyle very well. There's nothing wrong with picking by the tiers. Game's aren't won at the selection screen. And incase you didn't know Rufus is top tier too, why does no one get on Justin's case about it?
Daigo won't change due to a few minor nerfs here or there.
#64 first, he's a douche. secondly, he's a total douche.
third, unsportly behaviour. The guy doesn't deserve to win or have the actual fame that he does right now, Why?
Have you seen what he does between the fights he makes?
For example, see the one where he's battling Mike Ross E.honda in the tournament, He completely thrashtalks him throughout the whole game. And continues after the rounds.
Watch the fight between him and daigo at the evo tournament, in sf4. Where he raises up after the win, and walks away, then points on daigo and makes the Loser sign on his head.
He lost that game, but it doesn't matter. He is good and he got talent, but yet he's an a**hole. So yeah.
But he'll never beat daigo. Ever, daigo will go in retirement as the champion over those two, Guaranteed.
To the people talking about xbox is superior: The only reason the game is not in full 1080p is because of the xbox. If the game only released on ps3 it would be on a blu ray disc which can hold 27 gigs of information or 54 gigs if it's a dual layer blu ray. The xbox dvds can only hold about 9 gigs of info which forces game developers to dumb down games that are released on multiple platforms. For example final fantasy 13 fit on a single ps3 blu ray disc meanwhile xbox needed 3 discs to hold the same amount of data and if you wanted to install it onto the xbox HDD it took about 18 gigs of space.
@60: They give him crap because he's got an ego way too big for his own good. People give Daigo crap because he supposedly picks by the tiers. I was making the point that Wong doesn't get crap for picking top tier. That's not to say he doesn't generally get crap. And I'm not a Daigo fanboy, I prefer Poongko and Momochi.
I'm still calling Daigo. If you remember what eventhubs published a while back about how many times Daigo landed his Ultra at EVO and such, you'll remember that Daigo won the championship between the two pretty cleanly.
The only thing that's changed about Ryu is the damage and the inability to trade into Ultra. All his combos still work. Daigo doesn't really have to learn anything new.
@71
there's actually a 3 hours difference... so EST is 3 hours ahead = 11 P.M. EST
@75
Yea, we know thats getting old... but atleast this time, everyone's curious on which character he's goin for :)
The sad thing is - despite the huge amount of times Daigo has beaten Wong, people will say Wong is the "supreme ruler" or some stupid crap if he wins.
i just got back from waiting in line for this...didn't get in. there were like 400-450 peeps still waiting outside when i left. too bad...
i think hes gonna use guile. he used guile against alex why wouldnt he against Justin? anyways just my opinion, hes been playing with ryu too long so i guess he'll stick with him forever.
really nice to see him not useing ryu. Guile was kind of a surprise pick but im pretty sure seth had a hand in that pick(he was talkin about surprising people with him). I hope thats a sign that the tiers will be alot more open and alot more characters will be worth useing.
Now you bunch of idiotic whiners have no more excuse such as "Daigo won because his Ryu is top tier..." bs. True pros like Daigo and I will bust all your whiners ass no matter who we play.
And god I wish they put back championship mode because I don't want to deal with bunch of low life whiners rage quit and getting hate message. This is what happen when Capcom listens to bunch of whiners. Whiners think Champion point comes from grinding...... It takes me 2 hrs to "grind" to G2 and a two weeks to G1. I tell you what CP comes from winning not grinding.
And stop hyping Alex Valle please. He think he's West Coast god and his hand-picked BS team suck ass in EVO last year.
Daigo and Justin will have a Vega mirror match. You'll see.
@87, you had me until you said Alex Valle sucks. I highly, and I do mean highly, doubt that you are as or even half as good as Valle. And to say that you are a pro like Daigo... well "whinerhubs_com" doesn't exactly sound like pro player to me. It sounds more like a guy who would get his butt handed to him by Daigo while he played with one hand while making out with his girlfriend at the same time :)
dude, I got high ANd drunk. and now I get to see this rematch? AWESOME!
Lol @jwong haters
Justins gonna be around for a long time, maybe its time to grow up and stop acting like little b!tches.
@whinerhubs_com Alex Valle is the king of the west coast because he is arguably the best most consistent player on the west coast. Only people that really give him a hard time (apart from Justin) is Ricky and Combo. Dont worry one day if you put some time in you can grow up to be as good as Valle.
P.S. Ryu is still gonna be top tier why? Cus he is still Ryu his nerf really didnt change much. And Daigo is still gonna use him cus he is top tier. A wise man once said if you wanna win "PICK A TOP TIER!!!"
I don't even know why guys hate on Justin so much. If you've ever had the chance to talk to him in person, he's a quiet nice guy. He just gets hype for videogames. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
@94
Actually, Ryu hasn't always been top tier. Sure, he's one of the best characters in SF4, but in MvC2 he was terrible, in Super Turbo Claw, Boxer, Sagat, and Dhalsim were considered better then him, although ST is pretty balanced, and in 3rd Strike he was middle of the pack in terms of tiers. BUT, Ryu has always been the most consistent character in SF games, he never really changes from game to game.
OMG! This whole event is summed up by three things.
1.) SONIC HURRICANE KICK.
2.) SONIC BOOMERANG.
3.) DAIGO vs JUSTIN DOUBLE KO DRAW.
Damn! I missed the stream. Will they upload a video SSF4 fight club on youtube?
I had such a good time watching that.
I have been the first person to criticize Daigo for always picking Ryu, but he proved he has an exciting and variable game with multiple characters. Picking Guile, supposedly as a favor to Seth Killian, was cool—"what do you think about that, Internet?"—and the final showdown with Wong has to go down in Street Fighter history.
Respect to both competitors, respect to Guile who CAN get it done in SSFIV, respect to Seth Killian for commentary, and respect to Capcom for a great event. I wasn't actually sure I could get any more excited about this game, but I guess I was wrong.
Spinning Back Knuckle into the Sonic Boom and the Draw KO were total highlights. I guess getting the perfect on Daigo was pretty cool too, but I don't really care for Justin. He's tends to be a show-off, but he's a great player. Great job goes out to both Daigo and Justin for kickin' off SSF4 in a big way.
I almost crap my underwear with that ending, I mean... It was real? A double K.O. like that is crazy.
The only thing that would have made that ending more epic was if guile had his shades on. I never thought I'd see the day when Daigo would ever wake up ultra like that. I was completely taken aback, I would have thought Daigo would win, but the ultra traded for a draw game. Insane.
@ 128
Agreed, back knuckle to sonic boom was awesome as well.
Hmmm. I don't know if i'm happy that Daigo used someone that wasnt Ryu, or sad that everyone and there mother will now be maining guile.
Who cares if they main guile, it's not like they're going to be good at it. A Guile scrub would be like a Ryu scrub with less options. Good Guiles will still be good and the bandwagoners will give you free battle points or wins via the intarwebz.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. I want to force-feed everyone who works at my ISP their own entrails right now. I stayed up all night to watch this stream, and my internet connection sees fit to drop right in the middle of the big fight and I don't get to reconnect for another 20 minutes. I'm absolutely livid.
Alright, vent over.
it was a cop out for wong to use rufus.. if daigo was gonna use guile.. and guile is still crappy..
wong should have been a good sport and pick someone new
Honestly, guile was improved, but the flash kick still really sucks. Theres no reason that shouldnt have been the go to anti air move versus rufus. If the fixed that he would honestly be complete.
Daigo once again shows why he is The Beast.
Nothing more to prove at this point.
There is no unfinished business, the deal is done.
this was all i can get http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr4e23... =( i wanted to get the double ko
I wonder if this was a test run for Daigo to use Guile . Will he use him mainly at EVO or ... Does he have new tricks up his sleeve with Ryu or a diffrent character that he is saving for EVO ? Daigo looked like he wanted one more round but Seth called it over .
@pickboy97
Im will to bet that the real reason he went with guile is cause killain wanted to show the community he doesnt suck.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEPmAJ...
^^The double KO round only
Daigo Vs. Justin Wong double KO:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEPmAJ...
Did anyone else notice that at the end of the night both player 1 and player 2 won exactly 38 matches?
@ chinenwings
Yeah your probably right because Killian was defending Guile in almost every interview. And it was pretty amazing that Daigo's Guile (whom he didnt use much) Took on Justin's Rufus (who he mains usually ) and still almost beat him ! (If that Ultra had more priority !)
What intrigue me is that Daigo uses Vanilla SF4 style Guile to fight Justin's Rufus. He didn't use any of the new move or benefit from the Guile new juggle combo system in SSF4. According to the whiners beloved tier list, SF4 Guile is suppose to be #21. The only difference is the Rufus scaled down damage. It just goes to show tier list is the loser favorite excuse. Any characters pro uses is the top tier.
Daigo just did what Americans can't do using "any high tier" characters , beating Justin's Rufus with low tier Guile. Amazing.
That double k.o match was the best street fighter 4 match I've ever seen.
Pretty Damn Amazing. Daigo Vs. Justin double K.O. the stuff that dreams are made of. N 2 only think that was just an exhibition match. Great Game Fellas!
I was there. That Double KO was nonsense. NONSENSE!!!
and fun matches:
including daigo using hakan..lol!
sooooooooooooooooooo awesome man!!! i had a freakin blast cant wait till the next one! sux for you if didnt make it
Dammit! Now everyone will start maining Guile, and I won't be nearly as special :(
Wow Daigo's Guile was VERY basic and Justin still couldn't beat him.
I showed up to the event tonight, and it was kinda a big bummer. Max capacity was 600, and there were probably 1,500 or more people there trying to get in. Too bad.
Camera guys reaction to the Double K.O. had to be same as everyone elses: WHAT!?
I feel abit of disappointment in Daigo picking guile, Ryu's fierciest enemy that we've sworn to destroy.. He's joining... yeah he've done it guys, he's joining the cheap side.
I hope this is the final cliché, That no guile player will ever have to whine again, Ever?
Poor ryu, Rip buddy. just Rest in goddamn peace.. You will be missed!
So many freaking idiotic post and mindless daigo nut ridding.
I salute both player, when it comes down to it they are both good and would destroy ANYONE posting comments here. Good matchs impressed with daigo's guile.
Also @167 He was playing a very good guile with a MASTERY of the basics.
Trash talk is part of the scene. If you can't handle trash talk, then quit while your ahead. This is why FGC still has it's underground flair and appeal. In this scene, you play to win and you don't get all carebear about it. Respect is earned through skill no matter how bad you put em on blast. Blast is is just for fun and for the mental edge.
YHES YHES
Now that daigo is not useing ryu on this video that means less ryus online
I not sure if Daigo will main Guile. It's still early days. I'm glad to see some improvements to Guile's sonic booms and pokes. I still think that Guiles comeback potential is still weak but he can control the game better.
I doubt we will see loads of Guile players. Most casual players struggle to do the motion for his Ultra.
lol daigo wasnt picking other characters because he waned to...he did cause ono told him too...
he read all the threads about useless guile and stuff like that, so daigo was told to go for these characters ^^
Both Daigo and Justin are great players indeed. Why do people feel the need to bash one another with "Daigo this and Justin that" statements. Look, just enjoy watching the matches. Oh well, I guess it's human nature to make much ado about nothing...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Rky_N...
^^Just the entire last match between Diago (Guile) and Justin (Rufus)
@182
Justin is more of the type of the jackass guy that will bash his opponents and trash talk them (like he did WHILE playing against Mike Ross) and doesn't take defeat quite nicely (doing the loser sign at Daigo when he lost at some tournament...forgot the name of it)
Daigo is the simple guy that plays for ridiculous amount of time practicing against various characters in training mode (like at the world cup in france...practicing against rose for 3 straight hours non-stop). He does that for prettu much every fighters games (Daigo = Ryu in real life lol) Also the type of guy to accept defeat (even if these footage are rare..like losing to Rose in world cup tournament...small shake hand and that's it)
IMO, people tend to choose between them depending on that, the way these players play and the characters they choose. (Also for SOME people in USA they choose wong because he's american...lol)
btw. ustream archives has the whole thing up.
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/6400836 this is the whole Rufus-Guile set.
The ending proves how balanced the game really is!
yea of course the last round wasnt staged I mean daigo didnt know what was coming to him when he was walking forward and then got hit my a messiah kick. THen he used a flash kick without cancelling cause he thought he could have won eh. THen he just pulls out an ultra at the end when he wakes up cause thats what he usually does. Common use your brain. its more than obvious it was a staged last round. daigo doesnt make 3 mistakes back to back to back. Guile was probably seth's choice for daigo cause he wanted to please guile fans and put on a show. THe double KO also caused their "rivalry" to be continued in EVO to attract more people.
@ 182 griever 2000
Nice bit of info there about Daigo and Justin. Yea, i understand that. Naturally, people will take sides on what players they like and don't like. It's part of the excitement of being a fighting game fan after all.
Daigo steps out of his comfort zone, picks Guile and still kicks everyone's A$$!
I was there last night and enjoyed the hell out of the matches. Diago using Guile only proves to me that the true determnination of who you use in the game should be who you like to use and not a tier ranking, and that your own personal skill is obviously more impotant than anything else.
Impressions;
Guile does look better though, but I think that has more to do with the game being balanced better now.
Rufus's ultra damaged was definitely nerfed.
Not news but T. Hawk is really fun to use!
Ps - did anyone see the cosplay Cammy there? Oh my god . . . .
@194 HukGuay Nah, I don't think it was staged. Daigo definitely made a mistake and ate the ex messiah kick in there. Also in the end, it could have gone either way. Either Justin's Rufus would've gotten the cross up with his dive kick or he would've eaten Guile's ultra. But,I definitely thought that Daigo was gonna get hit by the cross up dive kick at the end... but to my surprise his ultra 1 with guile traded hits. If he didn't bust out that ultra in the end then for sure rufus would've nailed him with the dive kick.
Hakan does not look like a bad character but he looks boring to play. He's so slow and it's all one hits for him. No combos, nothing!
A very good player such as daigo can make anyone look beast, its all about the players not about the characters or tiers.
DAMMIT!
i hope this doesnt mean everyones gonna start using guile. i was glad to see the guile buffs, but if daigos gonna use him, ppl might start using him. daigo will win tourneys with him, and his tier ranking will go up, and if that happens, people will use him. god i hope dudley, ibuki, and cody take the attention away from him.i trained for so long to be good with guile, he better not start being a typical choice lol
Looked somewhat staged at the end - but still a great match!
Definitely somewhat staged at the end.
Through all those matches, Daigo saves meter to cancel his Flash Kick, he did that so many times to save himself. All of a sudden he has three bars and doesn't do that the one time at the very end? I'm not saying they practiced exactly what would happen (the double KO), but he definitely let Justin get that combo to make it a closer match.
Guile still blows all i seen was him having to block the whole game and wait for the counter. you should not have to play that way all the time. He does damage yes but how many times did justin get to land the ultra vs daigo's guile!!!!! A big fat 0=suck i like how they make you think yeah we made them better BUT! they still suck. I know this try med running palm on sakura and you are right on top of her face to face she starts a dp guess what happens and the denjin blows charge for full effect!!!!when are you going to have time for THAT 85 percent of them cover the screen i one second it does less than ryu's because you have to let it go or it wont land B.S. better to use the running palm after the ex one.
@ 211
I'm pretty sure Daigo randomly stopped zoning (at full screen) and casually walked towards Wong (and into his EX Messiah Kick) on purpose...and later on he decided not to FADC his last flash kick.
I'm pretty sure pros at that level know that EX Messiah into ultra is not worth the risk for a gimmicky full screen grab or whatever.
Anyway, like the other guy said - I don't know about Double KO, but he definitely let it become a closer match. Hell, he pulled the same thing in EVO '09 - where he just spammed random focus attacks all over the place (at least it seemed that way).
Diago will always be one of the most respected players in Street Fighter competitive community due to the many feats he has established in the past and now. But he has my utmost respect because of how rounded he is as a player. He really did Justin Wong a strong competition and Justin almost lost to Diago's lesser characters. Additionally, Diago is a testament to the notion that the Tier chart concept is flawed and it is the player that makes the character not the other way around.
What's with all the Justin hate here man? They are both great players and so is Valle. All the matches were close so why would you try to play down anyone's victory? I just seems like you guys are salty at Rufus and not Justin himself.
I don't see nearly as much hate for Sanford and he talks way more crap than Wong.
Quit being such haters and enjoy the game instead.
@211
your dumb. how hard is it to stage something when you've got 2 professionals playing and have so much tournament experience. go look at any game where daigo has played. he will never do a wake up ultra/super unless you count that one time he did with hakan in a for fun match.
I watched the video again, and I got to say it must either be staged or Daigo let Justin caught up on purpose. I main Guile, and for a Guile it makes no sense just to walk forward more than half screen. Guile walking speed is slow and you also lose charge. Guile player would either use knee or dash forward because charge can be hold immediately after the dash. It's faster than walking forward either way.
And Daigo had 2 bars and should've been flash kick like he always did. He just let Justin throw him and refuse to use flash FADC even on the next wake up. His action makes no sense unless it's done on purpose.
Justin Wong would probably have the edge on Daigo if he got a better haircut.
http://games.ign.com/articles/108/108...
YO! Anyone hear about this?
I didn't expect Daigo using Guile or draw at the end. Still it was a good match.
Someone stole their footage that they was supposed to document for Japanese television. Who ever stole it should give it back to them.
@ 224
...must...resist...race...joke...
Seriously though, that's just freaking sad.
3 Bars no FADC from Daigo that was kind of weird if you asked me.
Wow, that their equipment and footage would get jacked is so messed up. I have nothing but contempt for thieves--even petty thieves. I hope they get everything back.
As for the wake up ultras with Hakan and Guile: they both made sense because they're both anti-airs, and when Daigo did them his opponents were jumping in on him. Daigo knew that Guile's ultra would have killed Rufus--any special would have chipped Rufus to death. I don't think he expected it too kill him too.
Speaking of, anyone who says it was staged is either a moron or troll. First of all, 1 little mistake by either of them would have ended in one winning and the other losing. I bet no one would have claimed "staged" then. 2nd of all, if it was staged, the only sure fire way to get the results they wanted, if indeed they did want a draw set, was to completely record the last match beforehand and have Daigo and Justin act like they were actually playing. But none of you are claiming that because you're going for the more far-fetched route. Either way, you're stupid if you claim staged at all.
The real main event right here!!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98nlB2...
Good for daigo for playing guile Hakan dee jay and guy I bet it felt like a breath of fresh air for him
@60 that's because it's delicious Street fighter knowledge.
I think it would be a good strategical move to switch characters, Who knows how many people have been "labbing" to find a counter to daigo's ryu tricks they should have found it by now if not someone will defintely find it with the new characters.
Justins attitude kinda reminds me of Muhammad Ali attitude "it's hard to be humble when you are as great as i am" Except muhammad was the BEST of the BEST Justin ISN'T how many times does he need to get destroyed by a better player to get that through to him? Over multiple characters? over multiple games? Justin is not an idiot he knew if that ultra had better priority he would of lost YET AGAIN. WAKE UP. Until you are the best quit acting like it.
sweatypalm, I have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to Justin. I met with him that night and spoke this guy does NOT have this ego you say he does. In fact, he's probably the nicest ones I've spoken to. Maybe people around like to hype him up, but Justin himself is pretty chill. Maybe you caught him on an off day.
Oh, by the way, Daigo used Ryu just as much as Guile that night and NO ONE could beat him. There was a HUGE line of people that were waiting to play him and went through them like water, including a few pros, like Alex Valle.
It wasn't staged. OBVIOUSLY, the people saying that it was staged wasn't there. I WAS. Justin pressured Daigo into the corner and was going for the cross up since it was working well on him most of the night. I was close enough to see the looks on their faces when they were fighting. That was pretty tense. Crazy night man. Justin Wong is amazing and was rooting for him. But Daigo was RIDICULOUS, even when he was just playing the regular people. You had to be there...
This match goes up there with their 3rd Strike fight. Two of the best. "Let's go Justin!"
@ 238
Erm...he pressured Daigo into the corner because Daigo (instead of doing what EVERY Pro/Guile player would do and sat in the corner doing more zoning) decided to attempt a half-screen walk up throw/attack...knowing clearly that Wong could EX messiah into Ultra.
Even if it wasn't staged - Daigo just didn't care, he was messing around. Then again, that much was obvious when he picked Guile (a character that he clearly didn't know too much about IN THIS GAME) with Ultra 1.
Plus there's the whole "He could have FADC'd that last Flash Kick and been pretty much safe but he didn't despite having EX 3 bars and doing it every other time he was in that situation".
Have they cleaned up the bodies Daigo left behind yet?
That was brutal.
if you guys want a non-cam actual factual version of the footage check this link out on AirJuggle.com
I'm still laughing hard from Daigo's onslaught yesterday.
He used at least 6 different characters and did not lose.
Stupid usa players underestimated Daigo as a shoto spammer and paid the ultimate price.
Valle tried to take on Daigo's Guile with Ryu and still got bodied.
When will you fools learn. :)
lol at all the idiots who thought daigo only knew ryu. there's gameplay footage of daigo using other characters in other games ryu just happens to be his favorite. all you retards would have assumed that somebody on his level would know more characters but then again most of those daigo haters are scrubs who complain about fireballs. its called zoning and daigo zones with characters who are supposed to take advantage of zoning. as for all you supposed guile players who say "guile has a great rush game." that's laughable because if any of you played or watched any competitive sf match with guile you would know he's a defensive fighter who rushes in bursts to mix up. wow there are just too many whiners and scrubs on here lol.
Is anyone else slightly creeped out by the fact that Daigo chose Guile and he was still on par with Justin's Rufus? I wonder who else Daigo can use and play well with... Also, what about Daigo's SSF4 main? His Guy and DeeJay were pretty good from the videos I saw. (but maybe its too early to tell.)

BECAUSE DAIGO NEVER MAKES MISTAKES. EVER.
Geez, you people...
So, I watched the video again. At the beginning of the Guile Vs. Rufus match, Seth says that Daigo picked Guile as a favor to him. It's probably not far-fetched that Seth also asked Daigo and Justin to make it a close match to make it interesting. It IS an event to generate hype after all. Plus, with both players playing an unfamiliar match-up led to an awkward game.
As a conclusion, my money is on it NOT being staged. Sometimes, the stars just align perfectly.
I am an American and I have to say that Wong is an a*****e. He is good, don't get me wrong, but there are better American players out there. Like Alex Valle, Combofiend, Marn, etc. I would much rather see one of those guys be called 'Best American Player'. Or see Tomo Ohira come back, one of the two
lol at #255 think that Alex Valle and Marn are better person than Justin Wong. The only thing Alex Valle can match Justin is the A-whole factor.
Marn is the biggest a-hole there is. When someone tried to shake his hand after a match he did a crotch chop in the dudes face. Check out old evo footage if you don't believe me. He also talks a ton of trash. I don't see how you can say Alex Valle is an A-hole.
Guile caters for a very specific playstyle / mindset.
I'm not referring to defence / turtle.
It's like you need to be super psychic in order to play him effectively.
It's hard to describe, but if you're able to discover it, it's a world of joy.
Yeah, it's a rewarding experience planning and executing a gameplan with Guile.
It's all the more sweeter if it all comes together. :D
Kinda like finishing Ghouls'N'Ghosts.
Quick shout outs to all of you on the SRK board looking up Guile the night after Daigo went at it; all 300 of you just became money for someone else yo lol.
Stay free Guile-Army.
Honestly always thought Daigo was boring for always picking Ryu but after seeing him own like that with a low tier character like Guile, I'm a fan. Awesomely played by Daigo...
His match with Guy was also really insane... hope he changes from Ryu when it comes to SSF4's official release...
rare footage of Daigo ACTUALLY using someone else.
@240
I don't think Daigo didn't know Guile. He used Guile just as much as Guile that night, before they faught. Daigo was mixing up his characters all night. He actually used Guy a lot too.
We'll see...
I don't think Daigo is going to use Ryu for Super. They changed enough on him to nerf, especially the trade into the ultra. Aside from that, A lot of people got boosted. Ken and Ryu might even be an even near each other when the new tier list.
Fight Club was great. I lost my voice yelling at the end of that match.
@Clovr4Lyf: clearly you don't play SF that much, especially SF IV. The hadouken movements have more than enough frames for you to counter it with ultras, jump-ins, evasive moves, and ex-moves. Watch pro videos of Ryu/Ken and you will see lots of combos instead of newbies who spam fireballs and SRK like there is no tomorrow.
Daigo has used Guile and Guy in previous games and I do mean seriously (CvS2 Guile and Alpha 3 Guy). He also played shotos, but this isn't like the first time he has used a non shoto well in a high level match. People need to chill a bit look at the past and learn from history. People try different things now and then and good players face each other. The spectators always win. There is no reason to start an ego fight between Wong and Daigo because you hate/love them /their fans. They are good players showing us high level play. It makes the game even more interesting. Not upsetting.
Good Shizznits to Daigo and Justin. Justin Wong definitely stepped his game up big time, being able to come back from a near perfect in the last round. And Daigo going with Guile, a character no one has seen him use before. Both players, after seeing that are truly the best in the world.
Not really.
Wong's stuck with the same old rote-repititive cheap rufus while Daigo experimented with some new and lower tier characters.
He also left one big assed american bodycount. :]
In a way, I think it was scripted for 2 main reasons...
1. After the match, Seth Killian says the he couldn't have "scripted" it any better. and...
2. Seth didn't act as surprised and hype over the finish as the 2 commentators did. If I was there, and I was Seth, after what went down, I woulda been doing backflips.
Incredible matches indeed; Right when Daigo started up Flash explosion I knew that Justin was going to lose. Flash Explosion is exceptional for dealing with cross ups in the corner but what surprised me was that it traded with falcon kick, First time I seen a trade with a anti-Cross up Flash explosion. Good stuff from Wong had a feeling he would try Falcon kick to at least find spacing to not get hit from the ultra but Double KO is better than losing that's for sure.
@282 your the biggest idiot on here with a retared comment like that i was there these fights were all straight up legit but if you wanna make yourself sound even dumber than you already are why dont you explain how this was scripted
Gotta love people exaggerating how good Daigo is. People act as if no one can beat Daigo no matter what, and that he will always play flawlessly with every single element about every character in mind. Ugh. Daigo is extremely good, experienced, and determined as a player, but he isn't god.
People saying tier lists are useless is silly too, because we won't see SSF4 tiers that mean anything for MONTHS! Just because tiers exist, doesn't make them extreme. They make sense and work for what they need to, and for SSF4 it seems the tiers will tight and the gaps between each tier will be small.
Daigo isnt very good with Guile.
He also doesnt know that spamming jab stops the dive kick traps.
He also failed to air throw to create a knockdown, to create more offenese.
His Guile was very poor. Its just that he plays well enough strategy to be horrible and still win.
Daigos Guile is horrible.
Geom can show you how Guile should be played. Even my Guile is more dynamic.
@285. Shut up. You're an idiot. I said "In a way, I think it was scripted for 2 main reasons" meaning I think there is a possibility that it was scripted. Not that I know it was. Who's to say that they weren't using modded sticks with some type of input command and they had to rehearse moving their hands to make the whole thing seem real. Not saying it happened, but saying its a possibility.
Dan_CiTi.
It's no exaggeration. Daigo has the runs on the board.
It's more american players are f'king TERRIBLE.
That's right, I said it.
How else are you guys going to get better if you don't hear what you need to hear. :)
JerseyFame,
Yes that is correct.
Daigo's fundamentals with a weak character beat those of a far more cheaper and more powerful character.
He also bodied fuson909's Guile.
So thanks but no thanks on that offer of the other guile, I'll go scope out some Jap ones.
Furthermore, you guys should be damn grateful that Daigo even bothers to show up to give the usa a chance to redeem itself time after time after time after time.
protip: look at the matches and learn from the mistakes.
@289 thank you for proving my point you turelly are an idiot
Who's to say that any character is cheap? You use the characters given tools to the best of your ability, and hope that you come away with a victory. If you are still calling strategies that people use cheap, you need to get back to playing G3 xbox live scrubs and learn some fundamentals.
and how is Rufus so much better than Guile? Because the Vanilla tier charts say so? Rufus got nerfed. The damage on his EX Snake Strike, Ultra, and most of his normals was lowered, his stamina was lowered by 100, and his EX Messiah doesn't have as many invincibility frames. Whereas Guile has better normals with more priority, shorter charge time on his booms, and the best taunt in the game. (Sunglasses SON!!!)
@299: I don't think it was a money match. And I believe Seth said Daigo feels Guile is really strong in super and wanted to demonstrate that.
Why is everyone upset that people will start using Guile? You don't want to lose your uniqueness? There's thirty-five characters and thousands of players. You're not unique, get over it.
Great match, though. Daigo picking Guile wasn't that big of a surprise to me. He played him a lot that night. I thought his Guy was way better though. Good matches.
Good GOD are you guys still arguing this it was a good fight that's all there was to it besides i can't believe you think that was the most outlandish thing that happened that night. a bunch of gamers oiled wrestled each other for like a half hour that's a little more disturbing to me than a set up fight. But if your arguing if Guile is good or not than the fights that took place before hand should be enough proof of that. all in all it was a good event so stop complaining about.
#307
Yo, i can't tell if you are serious or not. Because, anyone who has reading comprehension or basic reasoning skills knows that "I don't think I could've scripted it any better then that" is a figure of speech referring to the fact that if he had indeed scripted it, it could not have come out that good.
Awesome bunch of fights!
Watching the Guile matches really made me re-think about how I should play SF. That's proof right there that mastery of the BASICS is far more important than being able to pull off fancy combos.
Yes it could be said that if Daigo knew more about Guile he might have been able to pull of the win, but on the other hand I don't think those "good Guile players" that people are recommending we watch would have even been able to take the fight to Justin's Rufus.
High level Street Fighter is a game where you do not allow your opponent to inflict massive amounts of damage by any means necessary.
If you don't know what that means, try entering a tournament and find out the hard way. Prove me wrong by winning the tournament and send the precious footage to eventhubs.
Those of you that believe this was staged either barely started playing SF4 or just doesn't know what fundamentals are. Try appreciating world champion play their first few weeks into the game. It seems very clear that a lot of you are waiting for some kind of embarrassing defeat or some ridiculous round you can troll away to which is a waste of breath. Use these videos as tools to level up your own game rather than to ridicule your fellow gamers. We can all enjoy a good laugh sometimes, but this is getting old like me =)
Daigo, Justin, and myself play casuals all the time and even then we don't like to lose. No matter what the situation is, playing to win is in our blood. Winning is a form a motivation to keep playing and to better ourselves for the next big tournament. Maybe if some of you spent half the time in training mode than trolling Street Fighter videos, you would do better at tournaments.
Those of you that support your fellow SF players, we appreciate it very much and we'll continue to bring quality play to the fighting game community.

Hmm... wonder who Wong is going to main?
Will Daigo stay true to Ryu after the nerfs?
