All but official, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in the works
Confirming the rumors posted the other day, PlanetXbox360 reported that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was shown at Capcom's Captivate event in Hawaii.
There's an embargo on the details, so you won't be seeing screen shots, movies and other things until early next week, but here's the notes they were able to get together.
• Confirmed characters so far are Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm and a few others will return.
• The Marvel vs. Capcom 3 development team said they will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters this game includes on the disc.
• This will be another 2D fighter — gameplay-wise — but will be something of a cross between the original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 4.
• The rumored release date is late 2010 or early 2011 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, no plans right now for other systems.
• The game will run in 1080p resolution.
• It will be a disc-based release.
• Apparently the game will have unlockables again.
• Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be playable at this year's E3 which is held on June 15 - 17th.

I never could get into the Mahvel scene, the metagame was too developed for me to bother. I think a fresh start for the series is just what I need to hop on board. I'm what you'd call an "09er" in the Street Fighter community simply because of how little exposure I've had to it over the years (only one arcade near me, which closed several years ago), and I'm glad online gaming is helping to make playing easier for another series.
That doesn't mean dilute the chaotic and energetic gameplay to appeal to "casuals" though, Capcom.

Any marvel character who has had or will have a movie in the past few years is pretty much guaranteed to be in it. So I expect the entire Fantastic Four, Deadpool, Thor, Ghost rider, Daredevil but no Elektra. No one gives a crap about her.

I hope the still allow characters to fly and Hyper Combo when they take turns to dish out supers one after another. I also hope that the game retains the same speed as MvsC2 or faster. I don't want another slow fighter from Capcom.
I looking forward to this more than SSF4.
No more turtling or run away tactics. Hope Rogue is still in the game with the power steal move.

No surprise whatsoever and i am thrilled! I also would have preferred a new CvS game but let's be realistic, Capcom's aim is to bring out the biggest cash cows and given the big sales of MvsC 2 and the general popularity of Marvel characters as well as the accessibility of the game's play mechanics...well it made lots more sense. Hopefully if interest remains strong we will eventually get a Capcom vs SNK 3 although Ono is really, really keen on making a new Darkstalkers. Either way us fighting game fans win!

On that note of a possible CvS3, it's unlikely that is gonna happen. Apparently, the SNK characters in CvS2 were crap compared to the stupid priorities of Capcom characters such as Sagat and Blanka. Of course, SNK got all butthurt that their characters were weaker than their Capcom counterparts, so unless Capcom agrees to have SNK characters dominate everyone in the next release, it ain't gonna happen.

they should keep the Street Fighter characters to a minimum considering its release is so close to SSFIV. Capcom should get more creative when picking characters for their side

These are strong hints
*If the game is to be released late this year or early next year means the game had to be in development for 2+ years and if they stated that fans will be surprised at the sheer amount of characters but only stated 5 marvel characters thats lets me know that prolly they developed the gameplay and worked on all the capcom characters and when they got the license they then started to add the marvel characters one by one
*1080P graphics mean mean that there will not be 3D model characters since even tho the hardware at the limits
*So that means it will be 2d Model Sprites and the cross between SFIV prolly means the water coloring effect on the sprites or 3d backgrounds and/or focus attacks or combos lose damage after a certain amount of hits?
Hopefully Final Fight does well on XBL/PSN so they see a reason to use GGPO netcode for the game.
Or it could be just like TvC sine they already designed the engine and will just prolly rehash it for MvC3

here's the annoucment for the video game back in MAY of last year notice how it mentions that first it was a toyline(AKA marvel's idea), then it already production as an animated series back in MAY of 2009, then they announced the video game to go with it in May 2009
Marvel made it themselves without disney's influence
See Disney attracts little girls with it's Princess and Fantasy worlds and cute characers while Marvel attracts little boys to it's superheroes and cool awesome gadgets with it's big manly men(and busty attractie ladies) so Disney bought out Marvel for that reason

I think adding Mystique would be an excellent idea. She could be like the Sheng Tsung of the game. Of course if the roster is gonna be as big as claimed, then she will probably have only so many different transformations, but that would still make her a very good character with alot of options.

Here is something I haven't seen anyone mention yet. Do you think they will include giant characters like in TvC? Maybe Sentinel would would be one of the actual gigantic ones. Or maybe they could have Fing Fang Foom, the giant dragon. That would be pretty sweet but from what I've heard everyone who plays TvC hardcore hates the giant characters.

I think getting rid of super-jumps and making it single player (no teams!) would fix the balance issues, but may not be MvC anymore. I would love it 10x more though especially if they kept it four buttons and target combo heavy.
MvC2 was a cluster-sex, that's why they didn't balance it on the re-release - if you like it, good, there won't be another like it. Time to back up and make a balanced fighter again like the early days.

For it to have a playable demo already means they been working on it for some time(atleast 2 years). I'm very excited to see a new Marvel. I'm surprised to see as many complaints/requests for CVS3. I, too would like a CVS3, but it seems highly unlikely that that will happen. There doesn't seem to be a market for that & Capcom is a business first, fan-pleaser second.
I can't wait to see how Marvel 3 looks! I just hope this game will be more balanced than the last. I almost completely forgot about Super SFIV!

This game may be very good. It is best to actually see it in action before any opinions are made. Bringing up the past to belittle this game is not really that fair. It has been many years since MVC2 so they may have been spending all that time balancing the game much more than before.. maybe not. You will just have to see.
Although I do find it interesting at times that those who complain the most tend to play the games they complain about the most as well lol... But who knows. :)

I wouldn't be surprise if they just took tvc and just replaced the tatsunoko characters with marvel characters and just made the graphics prettier. I'm not complaining I liked tvc graphics and gameplay. Give me Dante,deadpool,some rival school characters,thor,silver surfer,some darkstalker characters,sfiv and it should be worth playing. As for the game being balanced lol it's a vs game it should not be taken serious it's suppose to be fun abd cheap!

I believe this game is already made. Marvel vs Capcom 3 suppose to come out back on the Dreamcast days. It suppose to have 150 something characters, but during that time Activision had the Marvel License. Making some Spiderman games at the time. I guess there license expires and now Disney have the license.
