Sh1Nd sent me a heads up that Yoshinori Ono, Super Street Fighter 4's producer, presented the game at a event held in Hamburg, Germany.

Ono is speaking in Japanese and it's translated by someone speaking English, although the translator speaks in a low voice so it's hard to make out all of the details.

The three clips are all about 10 minutes in length, and the first one starts off recapping things you've definitely heard before, but there's a few new bits as well. To read some highlights and view the other two videos, hit the link below.

• You can press a buttom while in team battle to record the match you're watching.

• If you thought a match was pretty boring at first and you didn't start recording it -- don't worry because the system keeps track of everything and even if you start recording late, it will pick up the entire match for you.

• Match replays will also offer statistics like how much damage a move did in addition to input displays.

• Players have the ability to become broadcasters and invite you to a room for viewing matches and such. The broadcaster can then narrate the match as you watch it.

• Team Battle will keep looking for players to fill slots so that you can keep going, as long as the slots aren't set to private. You don't have to keep re-creating rooms.

• Basically every mode can be recorded with the touch of a button.

This is EXACTLY what i was curious and asking about. :D

Thank you Ono.
Thank you Capcom. :D

I've had the three videos ready to play all evening...but still not got around to watching them.

Hakan is better than Hugo

* Ok, basically - in terms of replays, you can record whatever the hell you see (whether it's you fighting or watching another person's replay or watching one of your friends fight).

* If you press the record button at the end, it'll record everything before it.

* You can watch recordings with all data up (attack/combo/input data it seems) - and crazily you can even watch it frame by frame.

* If you have a video that your friends don't have, they can watch it in your group and then save it to their console.

* They say that team battle should have no waiting around for players to fill up. Current players can fight eachother/chat or whatever apparently.

* You can do arcade mode whilst the game finds players for a different mode in the background.

* Because of some tight-lipped guy, Tournament Mode will be explained at some event in Hawai (Captivate, I think? I THINK he said it was next week too, but don't quote me on that).

I think that was pretty much everything worth mentioning...

Posted by SteadiestShark on April 8, 2010 at 8:58 p.m. #5

Also:

* Apparently that was the first playable final build in Europe. If so, that might explain why some things in some European preview videos worked/didn't work/did more damage or whatever.

Japanese isn't hard to listen to/speak
It's only hard to read/write

Anyone can learn to speak/listen Japanese

Isn't Ono just delightfully effeminate?

Posted by Adjacent on April 8, 2010 at 9:24 p.m. #9

LOL. YES! I Want David Hasselhoff in Street Fighter 5!

Posted by Ex_Ein on April 8, 2010 at 9:41 p.m. #10

Recovery stfu man your comparing two different characters that aren't playable in the same game as the other, your just trolling with your comment and I will not stand for that kinda of stuff cause if it's not apparent "I've had enough of this F@ggot-tree"

Posted by stubbs on April 8, 2010 at 9:47 p.m. #11

@11

Yeah, but think of it this way:

Hakan is better than Hugo.

Posted by chickenwings on April 8, 2010 at 9:53 p.m. #12

the only thing i want to know is if team battle allows people to use the same character on the same team(ie everyone on 1 team useing ryu). You would assume that since tournaments dont allow it it wouldnt be in the game but then again i dont like assumeing anything.

If anyone could verify it would be aswome(i really dont feel like watching 30 mins of translations i know someone already did lol)

Posted by Dan_CiTi on April 8, 2010 at 9:54 p.m. #13

Wow, I had no idea how powerful the replay channel was. Street Fighter setting standards yet again.

Posted by VanillaSF4 on April 8, 2010 at 10:07 p.m. #14

#13,

Huh, I've seen same-character tournaments alot.
I think it's possible though, like the game would to have to actively check everyones character. Too fiddly.

Posted by chickenwings on April 8, 2010 at 10:22 p.m. #15

@vanillasf4

Ahh, i dont think u got my question. I want to know whether they would allow a team have players to all pick the same character(ie a team of 3 ryus a team of 3 sagats). And i have yet to see a tournament where they allowed that(the last stream was a 3v3).

Posted by Ex_Ein on April 8, 2010 at 10:23 p.m. #16

@stubbs
how so? Hugo and Hakan haven't fought we don't know what Hugo would play like in an SF4 environment. If you don't understand how much teirs can change in the span of two games look at Sean in NG and 2i then 3rd strike

Posted by Guy on April 8, 2010 at 11:01 p.m. #17

Ono is a really cool guy. I am amazed at all the things you can do with replays. I am looking forward to this, and team battle

Posted by Ex_Ein on April 8, 2010 at 11:29 p.m. #18

One on one then it gose to the next member of the losing team until the one from the winning team loses

Posted by VanillaSF4 on April 8, 2010 at 11:29 p.m. #19

@chickenwings,

Nah I think I understand, correct me if I'm wrong.

I dont think the game would check for the same character on the team, it'd be too fiddly and go against the grain.. meaning you can stack the same character on the same team.

BTW here's a quick something I pulled up from YT regarding 3 chars on the same team:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32qQS6...

Triple chun.

Man roughly 20 days to go, this wait is going to kill me. :(

Posted by VanillaSF4 on April 8, 2010 at 11:32 p.m. #20

The reason why I remembered that is because I remember a team that had 3 sagats.
Shortly thereafter I felt like I wanted to slaughter some kittens.

Posted by VanillaSF4 on April 8, 2010 at 11:43 p.m. #21

btw thanks to Clovr4Lyf for double checking and verifying.
cheers

I'm really looking forward to Super SF4 now. :)

Posted by DarkBurialX on April 8, 2010 at 11:51 p.m. #22

Even though I'm not good at playing with characters or winning against opponents, I will record the matches. I will play them to study their moves. Can't wait. It sucks that I'm not good because most of the times I lose. I hope I can find the right character for me.

Posted by Yggdrasil_404 on April 8, 2010 at 11:53 p.m. #23

Thanks for posting the videos. I have always thought that Ono is the nerdiest and most awesome producer for a game to date.

And yeah, I can hardly wait by now. Good times are about to come guys, get ready!! :D

Posted by Dynames on April 9, 2010 at 12:11 a.m. #24

If David Hasselhoff was in Street Fighter, he'd be automatic God tier. His ultra 1 is the Baywatch slow motion run; completely unlockable and does 70% damage. Ultra 2 is he summons Kitt from Knight Rider and used his turbo boost to run over the opponent, it's instant kill but he can only use it once per match.

Posted by Arrancar on April 9, 2010 at 12:18 a.m. #25

so this is like doa4 set up nice

Posted by chickenwings on April 9, 2010 at 12:24 a.m. #26

@Vanillasf4

thats gonna be so lame. So now all u will see in team mode is teams of ryu and sagat. They could have just given the guy with the most points with x character first choice at him(honestly without that whats the point of have seperate points for each character?). So whoever had the most points with ryu would get him and the other two would have to pick someone else. I dont see how that would be hard to do or have negative effects on gameplay. It would just assure there is more variety in matchs and give people a firm push to try explore new characters. It would also make less popular characters more attractive since the chances of someone having alot of points with him would be less. theres 35 characters in the game, theres no way in hell anyone cant learn more then one character or only one character fiting ur playstyle.

Posted by otter on April 9, 2010 at 12:37 a.m. #27

the game records all matches automaticly, but hit record when you see a good match....wha?

Posted by VanillaSF4 on April 9, 2010 at 12:39 a.m. #28

chickenwings,

It'll be fine dude. :)
The balance changes made to ryu and sagat will probably mean you will see less of them because the high-powered shenangigans of the past will no longer be effective.

Also, because of the voice chat you can agree to soft banning same-character teams before starting if you want.

Personally, I wouldn't mind facing an all-star team of Dudleys and getting destroyed so I can learn how to beat him.

Posted by chickenwings on April 9, 2010 at 12:53 a.m. #29

@vanillasf4

U say that know, but after a month of fighting team ryu ur gonna get bored of it. It doesnt matter that ryu or sagat is weaker, i dont want fight them 10-15 times for every 1 guile,viper,etc. ANd Nobody is agreeing to anything online, so thats wishful thinking at its best. Once the tier lists come out that will basicly dictate what all the teams will consist of.

Posted by Ex_Ein on April 9, 2010 at 12:54 a.m. #30

@otter it save matches temporarily but if you want it to save permanently with the press of a button.

Frame by Frame break down of a match(second video that's revealed)= Pure win

Posted by Ex_Ein on April 9, 2010 at 12:55 a.m. #31

@Chickenwings, don't play then cause your going to get 10 to 15 sagat/ryu/rufus to every viper gulie in real life as well

Posted by Ex_Ein on April 9, 2010 at 12:57 a.m. #32

@chickenwings, they'll agree if they don't want to play "noobs" allday who just tiger spam with sagat

chickenwings,

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I don't care about facing the same character over and over.
Every opponent has different styles, different patterns, different tricks.

Hugo would murder hakan. Hugos standing mp stuffs anything

Posted by BedtimeShoryuken on April 9, 2010 at 2:31 a.m. #41

awesome. the replay feature in SF4 was lacking, glad to hear they went all out this time

Posted by chickenwings on April 9, 2010 at 2:35 a.m. #42

@vanillasf4

I guess so, its just kinda lame that capcom didnt take advantage of the point system.

@ex ein
That problem goes deeper then "noobs". When u compare the variety in hdr with sf4 it just makes me laugh. I have had sessions where i see every single character on the roster. Ill go from a t hawk,fei long cammy to dhalsim guile and vega(mind u akuma is offically broken and u dont get alot of them) and in all honesty i have had times where i didnt even fight ryu or ken(AMAZING lol). So that really says something about sf4, after a solid hour session half my fights will be against ryu with the rest being balrog/sagat/akuma/ken and whatever i get inbetween is either people that 1)think something stupid like spaming lariat or trying to abuse slide into throw with rose is gonna win(if its not ryu most of the time its this) or 2) they are very solid with there character and refuse to lame out(i wish i got more of these). Why does this happen? Is it because of the community? Is it because of character balance? Do i just have bad luck? Idk, i would just love to have more variety in super 4. 35 freaking characters, thats alot of matchups, PLUS theres 2 ultras per character which can change the match up completely(ie dont dp gief with ultra 2 lol).

Posted by Kelgar on April 9, 2010 at 3:07 a.m. #43

Did they say if you can save local matches too? If not that's lame, I don't care of saving laggy online matches :\

Posted by xShonuffx on April 9, 2010 at 5:42 a.m. #44

@13
They would have to let same team matches be available, imagin finding a team through searching only to have the other team members choose your favorite character before you forcing you to pick someone else, that would'nt be fun or fair. This is'nt a tournament just a mode to let people work togeather to win games.

Posted by whitey_deluca on April 9, 2010 at 7:14 a.m. #45

ZOMG! I cant wait to record matches and watch scrubs' input displays while they try to mash through my links! hahaha that will be sooooo ossom.

cant wait. Input displays on recordings def have me HYPE.

@4 -- Thats like saying sean in better than ken.

Posted by kemtox on April 9, 2010 at 9:44 a.m. #48

@chickenwings

I know what you mean, and playing constantly against the same character can really be somehow boring.

However, playing against ryu player all the time also means I know every way to punish them and anticipate them with my fuerte.

Anyway, if same characters team would not be possible, there would simply have thousands of Ryu, Akuma, Ken teams...

Posted by K on April 9, 2010 at 11:26 a.m. #52

@ 46

From what I've read, local matches can't be recorded, which is a goddamn shame because most of the best players never even touch online play. It'd be awesome if people who held tournaments could record the matches and then put them on the online network for others to see (live streams and youtube video look like crap). There are probably reasons for this omission, i.e. it's not just an oversight by Capcom, but I think they should give some type of update to let this happen if possible. I agree, there is little worth in online matches.

Posted by guile_makoto on April 9, 2010 at 1:18 p.m. #53

@ chicken wings I know what you mean about people lame it out I get ryu blankas kens and akuma surprisingly no sagat but most people try to lame it out on me and its annoying and I use guile and I refuse to lame it out its so boring and we all know guile is the king of lameness

@ Adjacent (#9)

I KNOW! Sometimes when I watch him give a presentation or demo of the game, I imagine that it's just Mike Myers made up to look like the Japanese game show host from SNL. That's when I LAWL...

Also, in general, this replay thing is going to make for an amazing way to spend some quality down time when you're not playing. Considering that it's a fairly new affair, I say Capcom really did this one right.
