Capcom's Christian Svensson stated that a PC version of Super Street Fighter 4 is not in development right now, via the Unity Boards.
How come a Game For Windows Live logo got on this piece of concept art for SSF4? Does this mean a PC port is in the works?
Sven: I really don't want hopes getting unreasonably raised only to be dashed.
I'm one of the biggest proponents of a PC version of SSFIV you can think of. While I wish it weren't the case, I can say that it is not currently in development at the moment. Will that change in the future? Depends on a lot of things, not the least of which is how big a PC forecast I can believably bring to greenlight discussions. If it were to happen, it's no time in the immediate or mid term future.
As far as how that logo got on a concept of our ad, I'm not sure. That I'm going to have to ask the PM and our agency about it.
Does the release of the arcade version of SSF4 increase the chances of a PC version?
Sven: And the Japan arcade version is what I was referring to previously in this thread as a gating factor (and until only a few months ago, there were no plans for an arcade version). If there were no arcade, there would be a much, much slimmer chance at a PC version. You'll also note, I don't believe we've given a timeframe on when arcade will arrive (and even so, arcade is JUST for Japan so there's no confusion).
That said, there is a difference between an arcade version and a consumer released PC version (no upward or downward hardware optimization/compatibility considerations, no online play/GFWL integration, etc.). And as I'd mentioned previously, there is no PC version currently in development. All focus is on arcade.
Are you really THAT interested in getting SSF4 on the PC? Your previous comment about it not being in development was hard to hear.
Sven: For the record guys, no one is pushing for such a project to exist harder than I am. I'm just trying to keep expectations in line.
Dissapointing news, good looking Rose though. those PC skins are pretty cool.
Every PC player who ever played SF and can live with fighting people with office-PCs want a PC version. EVERY.. PC... player
CAPCOM, DO IT. fffff
All left is to cross fingers. Even if people pirate the game, as long as it is required to buy the game to play online, I think Capcom can make a PC version... or maybe they could make possible to buy the game only online. It will be better (not impossible) for them to protect the game from pirate.
my 2 cents
whats the point? i hate pc versionz... only ones who want it are cheaters... at least consoles is more level
@9 only japan for now. Yes people pirated on the PC but later purchased the game to play online...or used a key from another GFWL game. But still I dont see the point in not releasing it on PC. Ive not seen such big hype over the sf series since sf2 and everyone is getting back into it and whoever was not into it is getting into it. Why restrict PC users from getting SSF4 especially when soe of them brought the original
Most pirates wouldn't even buy the game if they couldn't download it for free.
People sometimes look at things the wrong way, yes, PC games get pirated but you need to look at the number actual sales. SFIV sold a lot of copies, Sven himself said Capcom was pleased. There's money in the PC market still.
@11 He's a troll, just ignore him.
Considering SF4 and SSF4 were developed on the PC (read interviews from 2 years ago about SF4 development), and the arcade hardware itself (Taito Type X2) is basically a PC running Windows XP Embedded I'm sure there is actually less development needed for PC release than there is to make releases for XBox and PS3.
They just dont want to release a PC version and it's probable that one of the reasons is piracy, just as #18 stated.
#19 lol how's he a troll? You know more than half of the people who commented are going to pirate it. Even if they don't make online mode available for the pirates, you get access to everything offline: arcade, versus, training, etc. which is not free by any means.
Please, CAPCOM, PC version! I'm from Brazil, and there are a lot of people (who won't buy a PS3 or XBox 360 just to play SSFIV) interested in that.
For example, I play online with a lot of other players, always Brazilian guys, I can't even start a fight in arcade mode, and a new warrior enters the ring.... while some friends of mine don't have anyone to play with...
@#13/ricefarmer:
Or people who don't have enough of their parents' money lying around to buy a good gaming PC *and* an overpriced console + (in the XBox 360's case) a fricking $50/year subscription fee just to play.
Also, I concur with #1/juxtapose, though I doubt the PC release will be any time soon. They want to rack up a healthy majority of the sales before they put it out where pirates can get it.
Remember when Capcom swore on their grandmas that no arcade release was being made/planned for? That we should hope for the best? That the arcade release was highly unlikely? We all know thats was a lie now. Can you really believe anything they say now?
As a good note, the board that SF4 plays on has now been hacked, you can play it on a high end PC eventually. See: Blazblue Continuum Shift.

"We all know thats was a lie now."
Please stop with the conspiracy theory nonsense. No one lied. They couldn't promise it to you then because it wasn't confirmed. Super preorders and other indicators greatly exceeded expectations, and so an arcade version got authorized.
Decisions aren't made in business to arbitrarily lie to you and feed your paranoid fantasies. They are made based on dollars and cents.
It's very likely the last Street Fighter that will appear in an arcade format, so be grateful to Capcom Japan for going ahead with what is still almost certain to be a money-losing or break-even proposition.
Probably they are analising the sales results of the PC version, and they´ll analize the SSF4 results to decide if they´ll release the PC version.
I hope the make it.
that a**hole #2 who posted on the arcade release article got my hopes up
YES! YES! YES!

I AM LOVING ALL THESE TEARS! MOAR NEED MOAR TEARS! CRY MOAR CRY MOAR!
If my computer could run it, I'd love for PC version Super SF4 as well.
But sadly, my computer can barely even run the SF4 Benchmark, let alone probably the whole game.
Why do people somehow want this game to come in par with the console version? You pc user's should clearly know by now the Vanilla SFIV was the 5th most pirated pc game of 09....C'mon! it's gonna happen but for now just wait patiently.(I'm speaking of Super btw)
Also if you pc users are gonna be a bitch and deny it.
here's proof! http://kotaku.com/5435876/report-the-...
Seriously you guys:
1)Arcade release
2)That ad "mistake" leaking
3)SFIV is already on PC
4)Legit business logic to keep secret so we can max sales on consoles.
5)They openly want to get the game on as many platforms as possible.
When? Who knows...but I dont need any more reasons, its coming to PC. Period.
I don't know why people get hung up on the pirating. 1 pirated copy does not equal 1 lost sale. The only thing that matters is the number of copies sold. If Capcom sold 30 million copies (absurdly high number), do you really think they'd care of 2 billion copies were pirated? The PC version of SFIV sold just fine.
Also, remember that the PC version of SFIV didn't ship until almost 6 months after the PS3/XB360 versions.
Thats right - final sales are what counts. You can buy the game and pirate it. Anyway for me its just easier to buy - spare me the time of having to find it, download it, crack it, hope it works, hope some gehy virus isnt packed in the crack...etc..
I can afford it, and its not like they dont deserve a couple bucks, I mean the game will entertain me for 500+ hours.
Seriously.
@#45
Most pirates get it because "hey, it's there and it's free", they don't really have an interest in the game (or 2d fighting games in general) and they drop it after a few days, I've seen it happen personally. Obviously they would not buy the game if they couldn't pirate it. The exception are those that got a GFWL key from a friend or from another game to play online (something that should be fixed, no key sharing, like they did with DiRT 2).
The point is that like #43, #44 and others said, who cares about the number of torrent downloads? It's the real money made that speaks, and it was good money, especially on Steam, the game sold like crazy there.
#46 Totally agree. I bet 90%+ of the people who pirated the game didn't have a stick to play with...they just downloaded to try it out and to satisfy their curiosity. It doesn't necessarily equate to lost sales. Most wouldn't have bought it whether or not they could pirate it.
On the other hand, you have guys like me who pre-ordered the game on Steam, but pirated it first anyway to get one extra day of practice and unlocking (sorry, but five months after console release was very painful to wait). I bought the game, but Capcom probably assumes they lost sales right there.
For all we know, this is one of those situations where he CAN'T say anything so he WON'T say anything. They did the EXACT same thing with the arcade release. Two weeks ago they were still saying "There are ABSOLUTELY NO PLANS for an arcade release", and yet here it is. I'll bet the PC version has already been greenlighted, and they just can't talk about it.
