Kudos to Clovr4Lyf for pointing it out.
I'll laugh my head off if this is the new intro to the game.
JUST BLAZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's what I'm talking about that was cool
I thought they weren't doing tv spots for Super. Anyways, I like it. I'll be sure to pre-order.
Just saying those would be the best stages ever if you ccan fight in them
LOL @ people complaining about the music in the commercial. The Internets complain about anything they can.
just blaze produced track > the eurotechoasian crap that's actually in the game. just be happy the commercial doesnt have lil wayne bullsh*t in it.
Wow people are freakin Tool Lords on this website. Yall would complain about the stupidest freakin things. Jeez. Anyway the commercial is Freakin amazing and Nice beat by Just Blaze. though i think the white community wont like it. Im sure they loved the first commercial though. expand your damn taste for music and art people. Its 2010. dont follow crowds and learn to accept new sh*t for once in your life
@Clover4lyf
thumb puppets are better than nothing. UK has nothing for ssf4... only seen a dhalsim t shirt on one website otherwise nada
haha this sounds like something that would be played on soul plane... sik film that was
I find it humorous that people make the observation that black people are the only listeners of rap when in reality the biggest consumers of rap music in this country are middle class white people. Remember, African Americans only make up circa 13% of the US population. As opposed to Caucasians who still make up a majority of the populace.
Please don't let misconceptions get in the way of actual facts. I understand that the media feeds into such stereotype (and in turn we feed into the media), but please take the time to research before you make such claims.
As for the music, not bad, but not great either. I do like the effort by Capcom though to publicize the game. Good stuff.
definitley feeling the design on this- that was sick. also, the characters must have been a bitch to roto lol.
Lol I don't care what the music is, or who listens to it, or any of that, all I care about is that Juri was in the commercial, there for it was AMAZING! I can't wait for this game!
@21
Agreed. I am always astonished by the amount of latent and blatant racism and ignorance, especially amongst our generation. Anyone who has an issue with the soundtrack, or thinks its "ghetto" should take a look at just about any popular action, kung-fu, or any movie involving the kicking of ass made in the last decade. Typically there is at least one or more scenes with a bass heavy track such as the one in the video. Sometimes I wish I could freeze myself for 5000 years, and reawaken when we all look the same and maybe just maybe have run out of reasons to hate each other.
And FYI, I like all genres of music from j-pop, trip-hop, jazz, country, techno, electronica, even some easy listening adult contempo.
Doesnt look like much effort went into this, I'm sure it will still make more money than SFIII...but nowhere near as much as SFIV.
Why are you hiphop-phobes calling a producer a rapper? That right there proves you dont know nothing about hiphop.
Also This is good for the newcomers since they might relate to the music and be intrigued by the art style.(As in the one before was just mainly to pump the already fans waiting for the game)
I kind of get a 3rd Strike vibe from this.
It's not that bad, relax people.
Most of the people here are pompus stuck up little biatches who forgot what century they live in and what age they are trying to pretend they are up and beyond hip hop when hip hop pratically defined our young culture through the years. It's more mainstream than metal, techno, and of cours j-pop and most people don't want to admit it. Get with the times or get out. This commercial is fire and would actually make people want to go and buy it. Ya'll just Hate'n for nothin'.
@xShonuffx: Wrong...
most people hate modern day hip hop precisely because it's mainstream...among other, more valid reasons...
remember pop? It had it's time in the spotlight and now it's only mentioned when ppl are making fun of it...that's hiphop in 5 years...
deal with it...
lol king u totally took that the wrong way, sumbody said the video was ghetto and they hated it and i was asking them, if they were saying its ghetto just because of the music, which is stupid and i wanted to see if they thought it would be better if it had rock music, which is ignorant imo, and sumbody said it would be good if it had rock music, proving my point. i listen to all kinds of music, u obviously didnt see my post saying
Posted by KiD_LupE on April 5, 2010 at 6:42 p.m. #40
wow ppl are so ignorant, just cuz its a different kinda music that that u dont usually listen to its automatically bad.... smh
lol u just took it the wrong way haha chill man
Wow yo I swear its amazing how ignornant people are the people talking crap wasn't even born around the racist time but then yet again they still are why do you hate black people or things they do its not like you white guys aren't murders or fags or crazy but black people don't talk crap jus think about it your just and idiot who's doesn't have an open mind
wow these comments got people hype i really liked the visuals but as an avid hip hop lover i thought this wasnt up to par with wat SF is trying to do or even what Just Blaze is known for....the track was offbeat compared to the action and as far as the bass it was dumb weak it was just really difficult to watch for me because it was like water and oil (not in terms of genres but in terms of feel) they couldve come up with a much better beat for this high energy tv spot
ok ill rephrase that.... rap artists and hip hop artists are not the same, when i think of rappers i think of ppl like gucci mane, souljaboy and sh!t like that, rappers have no substance in their lyrics, its all material
hiphop has artists like common, lupe fiasco nas.... totally different types of music so thats how i differentiate the 2
Seriously the intro music is terrible and just show cases why current rap is absolute trash. U want good rap music for street fighter put on some wu tang, it fits perfectly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q-sYs...
I will admit the music in the commercial isn't part of my particular music of interest. I will also admit I like many different kinds of music, some new and some old. I feel Just Blaze's beat just doesn't fit with Street Fighter and I call it pretty bad because I just don't like it. I would just prefer something else, regardless of genre. However, I would not blatantly insult by calling something ghetto or gay simply because of the genre it's associated with.
However, I am entitled to my opinion just as much as anyone else is entitled to theirs. I may not agree with that opinion and whoever may not agree with mine but I respect the fact that they have one.
This is very much in the vein of the concept art posted earlier:
I SAY LET CHILDREN OF BODOM DO THE SOUNDTRACK FOR THE NEXT AD!!!!!...This sh!t needs more alexi!
Oh and i'm black btw...not all of us are hip hop fans...
The music was horrible and they held up signs that said sucka, leave that god awful stuff for the Modern Warfare kids...not for SSFIV....
Just Blaze one of the best real hip-hop producer out there with the sick track.
haters gonna hate
Honestly, the music sounds dope, but it's not fitting to the game. Not terrible, but not good either. Why didn't they use something off the official soundtrack of SFIV?
Okay, so for those of you who are complaining about the three basic things this video has going for it:
1) The background art
2) The lingo
3) The music
Let me set a few things straight. First, a large portion of the street fighting community is african american, I'd say a good number, many of which have been around since the days of MVC and Second Impact. This isn't to say that hip-hop is 'Lol, black advertisements' this is to say that for those of you who deny the black fighting crowd you should check yourselves. Second, hip-hop, rap, crap whatever you want to call it sells and brings attention, it brings in more consumers because it is popular, for anyone who thinks that it being popular hurts sales you and your scene friends need a reality check, being edgy and 'against the curve' means nothing when compared to the numbers you're up against. Lots of people listen to hip-hop, and no it's not pop (which is not dead, nor did it go on for only five years) it's an industry layered in diverse genres and styles, stories and messages. You should respect a genre which is relatively new and know that just like metal often does, gets a bad wrap due to overgeneralization of individuals and snobs who know nothing about it.
With that said I'm going to tell you guys why the commercial looks and sounds as it does. Seth has said over and over again in the last few articles that SSF4 advertisements are meant to go back to the early 90s when the original came out, it's not about connecting to the current crowd which is why they bypassed rock (or do we forget so soon the awful advertisements featuring War and/or Epic, two awful songs by any standards or taste) and went to hip-hop, hip-hop being the genre that defined the 90's. The colors, the lingo (someone pointed out 'Sucka'), the font, it all screams early 90's because the series is half-nostalgia. Super is supposed to give you the same feelings that you went through when you picked up Super Turbo way back when, and this is who they're aiming for. People who can get hype around living the good old days. This may not be what everyone wants, what everyone thinks is the best, but it's what Seth Kill has said he's aiming for with these advertisements.
As for myself? I enjoyed it, I thought it was a nice little spot, and it attracted me a lot more than just flashes of gameplay.
Oh, and for the record. Machineking should take note that 'Sucka' is not MW speak, it's not god awful, it's sucker with an 'a' and god forbid someone use slang for something (I'm sure machineking speaks elegantly when he's not blaming 6 month old games for words which sit ill for him). And hip-hop is not MW, google 'Linkin Park' or 'Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" and you compare how many MW videos come up compared to any hip-hop track. Be a trooper, ignore generalizations, and quit whining. It's a 30sec t.v spot for a game you're going to buy the hell out of anyway.
All of you guys don't know what your talkin' about.. this was an AWESOME commercial with great visuals/colors/ and overall presentation.. And it has an instrumental from JUST BLAZE! How can you not like Just Blaze?? The song was dope. Glad Street Fighter can have DIFFERENT types of music rather than the usual rock/techno stuff......
Its funny how this ended up whether you liked the music or not XD. To be honest, im not a really big fan of hip hop, so i wasnt the biggest fan of this commercial. I could see where capcom was going with this, and the audience they were going for. If i never knew the awesomeness of fighting games and the pwnage of street fighter, i would be instantly turned off by this. Then again, i reckon the audience they were going for is alout more than people like me. I connect fighting games with music like rock, or the classic sf4 themes, so i can identify with that. Its what i expect for a SF commercial or something, but they are trying to caputre a different audience I assume. Is that why they put the j pop song as the theme of SF4 that alout of people were turned off by? I would be happy if they made another tv spot going to a different audience, but thats asking too much i think.
Wait so... you're saying you'd be instantly turned off by it if it was your first time with street fighter but you say part of the reason you'd be turned off is because it doesn't have themes?
I feel that it's more accessible than other game commercials. Fighting game commercials usually are just all gameplay, showing us things that most of us have seen a million times, backed by music that fans are used to. However, I mean we have to realize that there's no point in advertising to a portion of your market that's going to buy the game no matter what. I think the vibrant colors and the music will attract more of the average casual consumer (not that any of us are hardcore lol) than any of the commercials we saw for Vanilla SF4.
Well, it is fact that the BEST players of the game are either black, or asian....Lolz.
Indestructible and Just Blaze. Makes sense. XD
How sick would that be if they could put that song and animated backround as a stage?
people need to know what there talkin about
@SAKURA hiphop is a CULTURE - so hiphop without rap - well its quite a lot actually http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop - first thing wikipedia says
and any1 who thinks just blaze is crap needs get real - hes not my fav producer but at least respect him as a real producer - dude has made some of the BEST beats for jay z, fabolous and jay electronica - who are all talented artists that u shud at least respect - so even if u dont like this - just respect it cos this guy works hard makin better beats than you could EVER make
Dunno why everyone is getting so uptight about "black Ghetto" music that plays for 30 seconds in an advert. I mean look at the japanese adverts with thier j pop...Im not a fan of j pop but I dont go around and make the effort to make a post complaining about it..man
WOW to all the haters sayin "the music is really bad" stfu this joint is sick and actually goes well that add style and to #87^ noo xD I still hate that song my friends says the dudes singing it sound like Americanized Japanese
Yeah, aside from actual Street Fighter theme music, I totally think hip-hop for the game. You have those old Kung Fu and Blacksploitation flicks from the 70s kicking funk music. Wu Tang and the rap/production style as martial art style analogy. 3: 3rds main theme, with the stage music being this kind of regular Street Fighter theme music meets Jungle style drums. Then all of the songs Capcom released on PSN by rap artists as SFIV came out. Liked the DJ Q-Bert and Hieroglyphics tracks on that.
@Rave_Zero
1) You're going to buy it, don't kid yourself.
2) Cartoony? Friend, what kind of game do you think Street Fighter is? It's not Tekken (which isn't even realistic by normal standards anyway), Street Fighter has always been a light-hearted fighter. You can complain about cartoony when they stop having green jungle men duke it out with yogi masters who stretch their limbs better than Mr.Fantastic. I don't know why anyone decided that Street Fighter was a series grounded in reality lol.
@Lysol_Jones
I'm not sure where but I've seen that username before...
@KiD_LupE lol mybad dude for my comment earlier i just read your other post mybad.... I'm just sick in tired of all this comment about race all the time it make me sick we came so far, for more and more haterz on ppl race not only on black ppl but on other race's that not white...
To say you dont like the ad fine...
To say you dont like the music fine...
But to associate it with anything ghetto, black, or likewise is just dumb. Knowledge is power and I just read a lot of weak sh|t.
I swear, just like the south is the cultural ass end of North America. The US is the cultural ass end of the world.
Now with that said, how about a Just Blaze/EXILE mashup? lol
I could do without him announcing his name, though. =P
I just read a lot of weak sh1t too, your comment. You sound more ignorant of the world than everyone else here put together.
Hop off the Anti-US bandwagon sometime and look around you really.
@Speedwagon
What? Nah, I love America but its the truth dude. I'm not gonna get into all of the though. Because culturally..... culturally now, it is lacking.
Cheers from a southerner
I do realize I coulda made my point without the last previous comment though.
JUUUUSSSSTT BLLLLAAAAZZZZEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sick stuff man. I`m really happy they used a Hip Hop theme for the ad. O and for the people hating on hip hop, Grow up. Just like Tomiwa11 said, Hip Hop is a culture. Just Blaze is one of the top Hip Hop producers in the industry and I think his style really meshes well with the whole SSF4 theme.
Why is it that everyone is mad about the music chosen? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't fighting games usually have that "underground" scene, especially street fighter? Hip-hop culture is largely underground from breakdancing to rap battles, etc, etc. The hip-hop beat just reminds me how SF is an underground game. Metal, rock, alternative, and most others just don't bring that quality out. To the person who said rap/hip-hop is dying, you might wanna think twice about that statement. Hip-hop is expanding still and other lights of the culture are showing ex: America's Best Dance Crew. Grow up and realize that just because you may not like the music, more people disagree with you then agree with you.
Oh well, haters gonna hate.
Btw, if anyone can get a link to this full beat, it would be greatly appreciated. The beat was magical.
word yo, i like that. i played that vid like 5x. if you guys find the full song, pass that to me too.
The voice turned me away. Still, happy that it's getting a commercial.
this joint does remind me of the 90's =) I wish i could go back to each year of the 90's for a day...like 1 day in 90, 1 day in 91 thats my childhood nd I loved it tho Super mario world and DKC were the first games I was hooked on
I agree with KennyStiLOwnz. That beat and commercial is Fire
The presentation visually is nice but the music is really bad.
