Capcom V.P. Christian Svensson recently posted on the Unity Boards about the various Super Street Fighter 4 videos that have been popping up on YouTube recently, where fans can expect to find the OST and artbook and several other similar topics.What's with all of the footage of people playing Super Street Fighter 4 on YouTube? I'm seeing average and top players posting clips of the game.
Sven: I want to be clear here. Only media has received legitimate copies from us for preview and review purposes. Those people are playing non-production copies on debug hardware.
"Average joes", even the best players, do not have access to legitimate/finished goods. Finished goods do not exist yet. We won't have them in our office even for a couple weeks.
So was everything we saw from PAX and Wondercon concerning SSF4 the absolute final build?
Sven: I'm not sure what build we showed at Wondercon but the game has been done and approved for a couple weeks. It's in replication.
Will there be a special bundle so I can get a Super Street Fighter 4 artbook and the original soundtrack in the same package?
Sven: I'm sure the artbook and OST will show up on the Capcom store at some point, but [they're] not included in a bundle with the game (at least, not in any plans I've seen).
Why don't you guys release some of your older console games on the PC through emulation?
Sven: If it were arcade games, that's one thing... we've done since 2004 with Gametap.
If it were console titles (NES, SNES, Master System, Genny, Saturn, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, etc.) for a third party to do so would infringe upon those first party IP (Intellectual Property). The emulation of the hardware by us is a no-no. Exactly why first parties haven't done so? Probably because doing so would be a distraction from their core business of growing their current and future platforms.
Sega is messing around with this business model a bit though at playsega.com.
How come there isn't a Dojo Edition of SSF4 for Europe?
Sven: Europe doesn't have a store (for now) and we can't ship US software (non-PC software anyway) out of our territory. So for the moment, I think Europe is out of luck. That said, we are seeking to establish a European store in the not-so-distant future (certainly within this fiscal year). The licensing team is working on that.
@Diamondis/#5: Maybe if Europe didn't charge incredibly high tariffs, taxes, and fees as well as requiring so much additional paperwork and processing to get items on shelves, you'd get stuff as cheaply as we do in the US.
Nightmarebooster calm down he's only like 15 or 16 or 17 he has no control over the fact that they have high taxes or all the other reasons u said ... capcom could lower the price over there 10 like 120europe money I can't do sign the but u know what I mean
@10
Exactly, not really fair when the first big tournies hit, and all the favoured players have been training months more than everyone else...
@6
Funny how products from nearly every other country manage to get their products over here for almost the same price as in their country of origin. They may cost slightly more, like you say, due to taxes, overheads etc. America like to charge almost (or more than) 50% of the products original price. A TE stick here costs $229 and I know damn well that it's not all because of importing them here.
Why not just create a dojo edition for European software?
