Capcom's Seth Killian stated that their development teams are looking into a couple of things that have surfaced recently with their fighting games.
Is Capcom going to do anything about the unblockable Ultras in Street Fighter 4?
Seth: Just chiming in to say this is a known issue, and the team is tracking down a few questions before deciding how to proceed. More details when we get them.
My Battle Points for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom have been reset, do you guys know about this?
Seth: The TvC team mentioned the issue to me and said they are tracking down the source to see how best to fix it. I'll provide more details when I have them, but they are on it.
Are you guys looking into a solution for ragequitters in TvC? The system of pitting ragequitter against ragequitter seems to be fairly nonexistent.
Seth: I'm not sure what the cycle on how long TvC regards you as a "ragequitter" is exactly. Of course you don't want to label someone whose internet drops on them one day a ragequitter forever, but similarly you don't want actual pullers gaming the system either. At any rate, I'll bring this up while the team is currently looking into the [Battle Point] issue, to see if we can at least get more clarity if not something more substantial.
It's worth pointing out that Capcom fixed Fei Long's infinite loop in Street Fighter 4 when they added the Championship Mode DLC to the game a few months after it was released.
There's another DLC update planned for Super Street Fighter 4, and if the development team intends to fix unblockable Ultras, it seems like they could roll it up into the same package, like they did previously.
people get irate in any game.you think fighting games are the only games where people rage quit ?
Instead of a BP system where points are just endless accumulated, online matchmaking will be a lot better if players are given an ELO rating -- similar to that in chess. It prevents inflation, and is a better representation of player skill compared to BP where you'll be hard-pressed to see huge skill differences between someone with 30k, and someone with 100k points.
@5,
yup well said.
the nerf's to ryu's DP (hitbox/priority) is unacceptable, but the nerf to ultra damage is a good idea.
oh yeah, apart from that, super street fighter 4 is shaping up to be utter perfection. :)
thank you ono, capcom, etc.
Man, it is hilarious when people ragequit. It is kind of flattering, actually, knowing that some people get all butthurt over a goddamn video game. Everytime I get a disconnect, I always send them a message questioning their masculinity, lack of sex life, etc. Although my response to the madness may be quite immature, there is no solace for fags who forcefully disconnect over a loss. Suck it up and get it over with. Pick up another goddamn hobby if video games are doing nothing but elevating your blood pressure.
imho its all flowing along perfectly except for ryu being a bit too nerfed, everythings good except he needs some invincibility frames back on his SRK, to keep pests like rufus out.
oh, and gen. :/
Seriously though unblockable ultras are not really that irritating its more of a "Goddammit" moment, ifintie however are very, very excruciating
Justin Wong tried unblockables 2 or 3 times during exhibition/fun matches, and missed every one.
95% of the time, the better player wins regardless of characters in SFIV. During a match at WCW2, Kai stopped using Fuerte (tier: 4-6) to hard-counter Balrog/Honda and used Chun (tier: 6-4) and split. He went back to Fuerte and steam-rolled. Fuerte is 4-6 in both of those matches, but still won with relative ease and struggled with Chun (6-4 in both matches).
People give way too much credit to the character used and not enough to the players using them. The best players choose characters that compliment their play styles. Every character "mid-tier" and up has won a decent sized-tournament "Dhalsim won the first Japanese championship (or 2nd?) and Justin Wong is starting to use Cammy in tournaments (who is middle/low tier) and Combofiend does very well with Cammy.
#15/Cameo,
You really are a bit slow, aint ya.
I was saying they bought down the nerf hammer too hard on both ryu and gen.
ryu already has a tonne of nerfs, reduced power, no more trade into ultra, no super cancels.
traditionally the SRK is one of ryu's most powerful specials.
and its invincibility in normal sf4 was already questionable.
but here's what im going to do for you and all of the other dive kick happy rufus fools - i'll just go gief and use ultra #2.
should be fine for other jump happy fools too. :)
man i cant believe sf4's been out for a year and those unblockables JUST got discovered
unblockable ultra set ups are very hard to pull off. it may be a key technique in tourneys but good luck pullin that online (same offline). it'll take a long time b4 anyone can master that tech. keep in mind certain characters can pull it off. if'll be fix via patch in SSF4 cool, if not im not sweatin it. peace :)
My TVC points....gone.... well more than that, it would be better if they had an ELO system. That and we need to punish rage quitters. I understand if the connection was so laggy and they quit, or if their connection just cuts out... but when youre fighting a wii-mote zero, and an annoying Ryu, who you beat by a landslide, and have the game disconnect right as my character is doing his win-pose, is annoying me. Why not have a counter that checks how many matches a player "started" and how many theyve "finished" that way if it exceeds a certain amount, they can suspend people.
I didn't see any Unblockable Ultras at West Coast Warzone
