No surprise there. At least the console versions will hit before the arcade versions, that's at least very rare...
Posted by DecoyLogan on April 4, 2010 at 1:17 a.m. #18
Great news to hear. I only hope they let the console version become standard and well played. That way they'll know all of the ins and outs (matchups, bugs etc.) and then patch it. That way the arcade version can get the same version the console gets.
Or they just release both with complete final builds; no discrepancies between versions please.
Posted by Yggdrasil_404 on April 4, 2010 at 1:18 a.m. #19
I was lucky enough to see the finals and the announcement just in time.
Man, I can't wait to get the game! It hurts waiting so much for this. D:

theyre all connected via tcp/ip so they can phone home all sorts of stuff.

There will be a PC version.... eventually. I just know it.
Posted by Bolton on April 4, 2010 at 1:26 a.m. #23
Goddamn why do people think there's going to be an actual PC release anytime before or near the release of the console version? That would be a stupid choice on Capcom's part due to all of the pirates, come on people, use your heads...
But I'm really glad there's an arcade release for Super. Validates my purchase even more, because everyone knows the real competition is always at the arcades. This is just awesome, thanks for the news! (:

Huh? So why the hell did Seth and Ono keep lying to us over the arcade version till now? They clearly said "no arcade version planned at the moment". This is great news on one hand yet i get the impression they where deliberately lying to people so that more would rush out and pre-order/buy SSF IV on a PS3 or XB360
Posted by Ex_Ein on April 4, 2010 at 2:39 a.m. #32

the best thing is the japs are getting the same version as the console peeps now theyll use the cast.unlike in sf4 where they would only use the arcade characters

Quote Bolton: "Goddamn why do people think there's going to be an actual PC release anytime before or near the release of the console version? That would be a stupid choice on Capcom's part due to all of the pirates, come on people, use your heads..."
I hope you're actually being sarcastic, cause if anything releasing the PC version later will hurt the sales of the PC version (cause everyone that has a console will get that version).
No matter how late the release or how strong the DRM, PC games will ALWAYS get pirated. PC games still don't suffer from low sales for the most part cause there are actually people that will buy the game if they played the pirated version and liked it, because they want to reward the developers for releasing a good game.
Especially multiplayer games are often actually bought because else you can't play online, but that's where Capcom f***ed up because of GfWL, where you can use ANY key from ANY game for ANY game (so buy a bad 5€ game with GfWL and use its key for the cool 60€ game noone ever bothers buying cause it's not THAT good).
Posted by sizzleboy88 on April 4, 2010 at 3:38 a.m. #37
like we did not see this coming. they should have waited till after the console release to announce an arcade release, in order to maximize software sales.

How to fix Guile? easy just like all zigzag ultra's make it a MOTION. Before anybody says "oh it's easy to do them you just suck" #1 there not hard to do I only use charge charaters since the shortcuts in SF4 screw my gameplay with motion charateres so i stick with charge characters. #2 the most complained Ultra's are Guile's,Vega's,Honda's and Fei's and 2 of those are zigzag so that should just be an incentive to just make it a motion because it won't make the characters broken it just gives them more options.
While your there practicing FADC in Guile's 1st Ultra while it may hit me once in a set to 10 but an easy dp fadc into ultra will get me 4/5 or more in a set to 10, why? because it's practical not situational aka wait til somebody does something stupid and or wreckless than hit your ultra lol.

"Walk softly and carry a big stick"
That's right, you cant trademark that slogan. Teddy Roosevelt already used it.
How about using one of these:
"Walk softly and carry a big Fightstick"
"Walk softly and carry a big meat stick"
"Wookie softly and carry a big Chewbacca"
"Wank softly and carry a big . . . nah, nevermind . . .
Posted by NA on April 4, 2010 at 9:13 a.m. #56
@39
It is relatively common practice now to delay the release of the PC version to curb piracy...not necessarily for the PC version, but so that people who MIGHT have pirated it on the PC will at least buy the console version in the meantime. They then generally go on to pirate it on the PC anyway.
Posted by Firegod on April 4, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. #57

I'm sort of hoping they wait a few months after the console release, rebalance for the arcade, and then patch the console to match.
Do you guys think there is ANY possibility of that occurring? I'd like it, but realistically I doubt it will happen.
Posted by THTB on April 4, 2010 at 10:01 a.m. #61
Forgot to say this in my last comment.
The console characters are going to get some heavy exposure from Japan, now that the game has an arcade release. Which is awesome.
Cannot wait to see the Japanese Hawks, Makotos, Juris, Adons, Guys, and Ibukis.

rebalance and patch? what for?
Posted by NA on April 4, 2010 at 10:24 a.m. #65
@71
Heck, anything. If you let the console release sit for a few months, I'm sure there will be a list of things that could be changed.
Soul Calibur III was originally released on consoles. The arcade version came out later, and it was rebalanced and had new content.
Of course, back then they couldn't patch the console release to match.

Yeah, but look how it worked out. America had fun with all the new stuff, but Japanese tourney players barely knew any of the console characters.
IF they re-balance the arcade, it'd be easy as pie to patch the console version to match (at least, Capcom has been claiming that balance patches would be easy).

Posted by Q80Warlock on April 4, 2010 at 12:12 p.m. #76
If Seth is playable then the Arcade version is broken, unless Capcom gave him a serious handicap (damage/hitboxes).
Posted by yes4me on April 4, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. #77
That's great news for me and MGL but:
- joysticks are something I am not good at
- they use Japanese joystick
- the game is not on PC...
Therefore I will be a total noob there who don't even know how to use the damn joystick. I hate watching myself having to play Guile because I have a hard time to even do a fireball without jumping like a monkey or FADC in the arcade... I guess I play Guile or Dejee in SSF4... 2 low tier characters... gosh =(
I will be definitely there when nobody come.
Posted by WinstonChurchill on April 4, 2010 at 12:35 p.m. #78
I think Q80Warlock is scared of Seth :P
Posted by Ex_Ein on April 4, 2010 at 12:36 p.m. #79
@Everyone who wants it imported
You have the money to import it?
cause arcade owners aren't probably going to throw down the money themselves
Posted by Ex_Ein on April 4, 2010 at 12:39 p.m. #80
Especially when people can pay 40 bucks(about 40 games on 1 dollar machines) and have it permanently instead of throw down a dollar at the arcade

Like anyone had any doubt.
Really guys?
Really?
Posted by xShonuffx on April 4, 2010 at 2:28 p.m. #86
@ 34
Thats silly, why would they delay the announcment of an Arcade version just to make sure people preorder SSFIV? Everyone more than likely has 40 bucks to blow, not everyone walks around with $5000+ dollars and says well, im gonna get the arcade version instead, be serious.
And it's understandable that they denied the making of an Arcade version because it was probably being discussed and Ono was probably pitching the idea. Ono may be producer of SF4 but he does'nt get the final say so, everything that comes out of his mouth represents Capcom, if he says something is gonna happen and it does'nt it's not on Ono it's on Capcom and Ono would get in trouble for it.
Would think most of you guys knew about the game industry by now.
Posted by Caramujov2 on April 4, 2010 at 3:13 p.m. #87
If they´ll release to arcades, even if that doesn´t make too much money to Capcom, maybe they´ll annouce the PC version after the release of the consoles.
