He played low tier all the time. He was using Cammy and got tired of outplaying his opponents only to traded into an ultra for the loss.
He said in a video after a loss he was sick of that and he'd be playing high tier 'to win' from now on. If anything this proves that he is one of the best since he switched to high tier and is dominating now

Sanford would outplay his opponents and then they would get a miracles ultra and win. When your a high level player and you go to tournaments... your goal is not to get better.... it's to win by any means necessary. I'm sure Flash knew it's a bad match-up for viper and I know he knows what he has to do in order to win. So just give the dude some respect for winning.

Imo it just proves that the tiers really mean something. All that "tiers are pointless learn ur character" stuff isnt true. Having to outplay someone by a mile just because he has sagat or ryu isnt fun lol. Lets see what he does in super 4.
I watched the steam, and when Flash Metroid, and Sanford Kelly fought at the first time, i saw the results.
Sanford learn the opponent with a shoto, then goes to losers, win, then fight with Flash Metroid, (he knows his viper from the first match,) and beat him with another character. (Actually with a more powerful shoto.)
Nice tactics. I think sagat is the only high tier character in this game. But it's a tournament, and everything is fair in war. :P
No respect from me for ditching your favorite toon for a more powerful one. Any he'da got from winning was lost because he had to play high tier.

being a tier whore,in a tournament with stuff on the line isnt bad.and Sanford is beast,hes proven that effecitively using many low tier characters to win including Dan.give credit where credit is due yall.and btw,as sum1 who mains Sagat,he didnt really get nerfed,because everyone's dmg got toned down.if anyone's dmg needed a nerf it was rufus lol.and yes he has lower hp but people who main him and know how to play him will be fine.sagat will still reign supreme in ssf4.just got work a little harder for wins but its fun that way :P
Sanford, I respect your skills, but not your philosophy. You play ryu sagat because they are the best characters in the game, and for that reason I respect YOU the person less.
So you guys are saying that the lakers and celtics shouldve stayed with crap players instead of switching to Kevin Garnett and Pau Gasol?
He changed something to win. Just like any smart person or organization does in a competition.
@24 I'm speaking from the perspective of a viewer, a spectator. I will never be as good as Sanford or these guys, and I completely understand the decision to play the top tier characters exclusively, but I don't have to like it ;) Meanwhile your argument suggests you would like to see sagat mirror matches in every round of every tournament bracket...
Atleast sanford keeps it real, he doesnt act like sagat is his favorite character. And for that u have to respect, nevermind the fact that hes good with who ever he uses. Dont act like daigo would still use ryu if he sucked in sf4. In games where ryu doesnt dominate he uses other characters.
The commentator for Battlefield Arcadia is just terrible.
