This news came about because while this is the first release of the game over here in America, this is an updated version for Japan where the game was originally priced at 5,980 yen, or $65 USD, so Capcom decided to knock it down to $44 in the land of the rising sun.

Reading between the lines and adding a bit of speculation — one can't help but wonder if Super Street Fighter 4 won't be priced similarly as well.
