In a good sign for future digital only downloadable games, two Capcom staffers, Rey Jimenez and Christian Svensson, commented on how well their offerings in that genre have performed, via the Unity Boards.
I'm just wondering if your digital games sell well? — Scott
Rey: I won't get into specifics, but our digital games have been doing very well as a whole and you'll be seeing more digital games from us in the future.
Sven: I can't get into details but for our office in particular, in aggregate digital game sales have been one of the best segments for us. Not everything's a winner to the same extent, but we've had some very big winners relative to market average performance.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix were reportedly two of the titles that performed very well, for digital downloads.
This is likely very good news for those of you hoping for future fighting game re-releases from Capcom. Although Svensson said last month there's nothing currently in development on that front, with this kind of performance, one can only assume we'll be seeing more fighting games with time.
