Posted by JamRock on November 22, 2009 at 2:24 p.m. #4
@ #3 You can enter a tournament with a pad or stick it doesn't matter

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't seen Arlieth and Emphy enter anything for the better half of forever..
They only play 3s, right?
Posted by hobohitman on November 22, 2009 at 4:17 p.m. #8
i cant believe how many matches boil down to this run away bs. capcom serioulsy needs to shrink the stages back to turbo size.

Arlieth played Vega(claw) in the SF4 tournament.
Posted by Hinderance via Pad on November 22, 2009 at 4:50 p.m. #10
Man Rico has so much potential, he really needs to make the switch to stick, he's sick with it but you're only gonna go so far with pad...
Posted by hobohitman on November 22, 2009 at 5:12 p.m. #11
stick or pad doesnt make a difference. Look at the tekken guys, they make it happen on the pad. It comes down to whatever ur comfortable with.

lawl norcal just cant compete with socal, not free but i think its safe to say that socal wins most of the time at anything.
@flen goddamn you're a fckin scrub 09er, go play halo you scrub

Norcal won every event except 5 on 5. Ur being bias.
Posted by Te1vanni on November 22, 2009 at 8:12 p.m. #19
Ah.. those Dagger G matches were heartbreakers. Especially the Akuma ones. I feel for Dagger. But hell making it to top 8 is good times. Especially when he made it into top 8 on Winner's side.
Posted by Albert Wesker on November 22, 2009 at 8:13 p.m. #20
And still, nearly a year after SFIV's release, no Sagat in top 8....let alone a win....looks like Sagat still isnt OP...
Posted by @ #20 on November 22, 2009 at 8:17 p.m. #21
It's because the characters beating him out are usually the ones that either don't have a bad match against him - or are being played by players that are superior enough to make the difference up through skill.

Try again in Japan, country of best sagat players...
Posted by yes4me on November 22, 2009 at 8:26 p.m. #23
@20: God... how can you be that dumb? Sagat won most of the tournaments, just not THIS one.
Now why do I think you are really dumb? Go click on the link at the top page "If you missed Day 1, click here to see the early results"... and it turned out Sagat won at the Digital Mayhem Tournament.
Posted by @20 on November 22, 2009 at 8:27 p.m. #24
No good players on WC play Sagat. In Japan, Sagat wins TRFs more than 50% of the time and NSB winners almost always have a Sagat. LI Joe's Sagat wins on the EC whenever Wong and Marn aren't around. Both he and Floe make top 8s when they come out west.
Posted by 20is a scrub on November 22, 2009 at 8:39 p.m. #25
lol dont take him seriously, hes just another 09 scrub thats riding on japan's dick, dont expect to see him in any tourneys except xbox live rofl

Posted by There is a difference between being op and good on November 22, 2009 at 8:46 p.m. #28
U guys say Sagat's op but only in the hands of a few Japanese players li joe and sanford apparently. Hmmm. Well I guess there's nothing to complain about cause none of u play these guys anyway. Sagat is good but nothing to be bitching about like this. This is sad.
Posted by gaf on November 22, 2009 at 8:52 p.m. #29

@21 that goes for every char. Those are the only two options u can have. Agreed with #28. Let's try not to take anything away from good players just because they use Sagat. Its just not fair.

I remember Justin, right before Evo, said people should watch out for Ricky, because Ricky was basically the West Coast version of him, but he didn't really do THAT well at Evo, so I guess people kind of dismissed him.
This just proves that Ricky O is a real damn threat. 3 wins is just amazing.

any vids on this tourney?
Posted by @56 on November 23, 2009 at 12:31 p.m. #59
Combofiend's manager Mambofiend here.
Pete was just scouting out the other characters to familiarize himself with their movesets and mindset. He's definitely looking to do big things for Abel.
His Abel is really good, it's just that these players know how to exploit his(Abel) shortcomings(ie. crap wake-up options) perfectly.
Posted by Mambofiend on November 23, 2009 at 12:43 p.m. #60
I was actually the one that told Pete when to bring out his Abel.
I was standing behind him with my arms crossed, observing at Evo during his match with Dagger G during the SoCal vs. Wildcard 5v5 and when he lost I said, "It's time." He told me that he needed to familiarize himself with Akuma abit first then he'll bust out his Abel.
With those two words(It's time.) a beast was unleashed upon the SFIV world to take your tournament monies.

Ricky Ortiz might be a good player, but somebody tell him to get a new haircut for christ's sake. He had the same haircut as my 60 year old dad

haha i call BS, of course, but yeah if anyone can come with a sick Abel, CF can. Sh*t during the stream of WCW, he used Sagat in casuals, and i remember thinking "wow, that is the most aggressive and rushdown-est (haha) Sagat i've ever seen." haha
and i guess #62 shops at urban too, otherwise he wouldnt know what type of shirts they sell haha

You Californians sound like fruits. "Your fashions are not up to the standards of a video game tournament. Our fashions are better." Do you really care about this kind of thing? Trim your neckbeard and you'll look better than 99% of the attendees...not that there's many girls around to notice.
