Spike TV is running a poll for fighting game of the year and Street Fighter 4 is one of the selections.
It's running against BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny and Tekken 6.

Tekken does not suck. The game package sucks, but the game core is amazing.
SF4 is decent but I will have to go with Tekken on this one.
Although I voted for Tekken, I believe SF will win, just because SF has so many fanboys, and people who don't really play fighting games and look at the list, will automatically vote for SF.

@8675309 - If they determined best game of the year by slaes alone some asian dating sim or pokemon would be the greatest game of all time. Plus alot of bad games get over hyped and sell huge when they clearly suck. It's just the nature of the industry.

SF4 will easily win. Which is too bad cause as far as a better package goes, Blazblue was a much better job well done. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy SF4 quite a bit, but the art, the extras, the online, all were done with such meticulous care in Blazblue. SF4 is a good throwback to the classic days, essentially mixing SF2 with some SF3 gameplay. The core systems and balance may be better but I don't think the care was there as much. I also give kudos to anyone that tries to do a new IP. Its not like Arc Systems could've just made a new Guilty Gear.

Blazblue battle mechanics ain't that fun for me and the characters are too weird and there were only like 12 of them not much to choose from got bored of it in one week so i sold it to somebody and bought Ninja Gaide Sigma 2 with the money
SFIV & Tekken 6 are so much better in many ways i'll be playing this 2 games for months and never get bored

Never have i seen a game with a character as broken as arakune ... so yeah sf4 NO Street Fighter for the win. lol gonna win this year and next years best fighting game. :)
Its wierd to say that sf4 is a turtle based game cause its not. YOU CAN PUNISH TURTLERS IN ANY FIGHTIN GAME .

To say sf4's art is not as good as blazblue is bull...It is UNIQUE so it all depends on how u look at it. The online might not be as perfect as blablue though i agree. Hakumen for BEST NEW BADASS CHARACTER OF THE YEAR????

blazblue may not have as many characters but each character is truly unique and has a lot of depth....well except for noel vermillion. otherwise yeah. It may be too high a learning curve for some.
I had to vote for blazblue. Capcom will keep making games whether they win or lose, ARc System's deserves some time in the sun.
and for a slight tangent....November and later games should be grandfathered into the 2010 awards. There's gonna be a lot of buzz for new games like Assassin's Creed and MW2 since they came out the most recent. Infamous has been out for a while and it isn't even on some of the voting pages.
And while I did vote Blazblue as best fighting game, I would vote SF4 game of the year. It didn't break any real ground to fighting veterans as much as it brought a genre to a massive market. When you look at game of the year you gotta consider a game so massive it brings in fans who wouldn't normally play that genre, and I believe SF4 did that pretty well.

Blazblue has the best online of any of these. As much as I love tekken, the online needs an update. But then again, what fighting game didnt? Blazblue gets my vote here.

SF characters are unique in ways u play em . as in the engine allows u to play a single character in a various number of ways so if u can learn various play styles u can pretty much understand how the game is different from traditional fighting games .
