Top Japanese Street Fighter 4 players in Korea

Noticed over on Versus City that a few top Japanese players are competing against each other and some of Korea's finest with a handful of the matches making their way to YouTube.

The videos are of the shaky cam variety, but some of them are not bad quality, surprisingly.

This clip shows Mago (Guile), who is regarded by many as the best Sagat player on the planet, against Poongko (El Fuerte), who normally plays Ryu.

You can find more matches on SF4ppp123's YouTube channel.

OK I would have loved to seen Mago and poongko using their mains instead

And all you could do is spam light punches?

I learned A lot just watching these guys right nao.
Also poongko plays diffrently when hes not on a show he seems more concentrated on the game.

I really liked when mago announced to the crowd that cody was going to be his main in super!

Mago looks like a freaking scrub without playing Sagat lol

Posted by IrPanda on November 16, 2009 at 7:54 a.m. #9

@Tim I thought his guile looked pretty good compared 2 other.

@lulzorr

when the f--k did that happen?

Posted by Akuma Fiend on November 16, 2009 at 8:28 a.m. #11

Oh yeh, and Momochi is #1 Akuma player hands down. He is the Daigo of akuma players!

I seriously hope that the Japanese players are trying to make it into the Korean telivised tournaments for Street Fighter 4, though I have a gut feeling the show will become dominated by Japanese if the Korean TV networks allowed it. This may then curb enthusiasim in Korea for SF.

respect to Poonko. Hate the guy or not... he knows how to do his combo.

Posted by Madness on November 16, 2009 at 9:01 a.m. #14

I really thought Mago was gonna win that, but he didn't know how to deal with a knockdown coming from fuerte

Bet he thinks flashkick needs less recovery frames now

Posted by classy on November 16, 2009 at 9:40 a.m. #15

poongko is good with all characters and can do crazy combos with percision if uve seen his personal youtube

too bad only 2 matches with him

Posted by Wilken on November 16, 2009 at 1:22 p.m. #16

Well...For one who said that poongko are like a piece of crap compared to japanese guys, his match against Kyabetsu seems very...enlightening.

Wow. Momochi's play was just beautiful. Mago, OTOH, didn't do crap in that match. Sagat did everything for him.

Not to say he's a bad player, but his performance there was just laughable, and a perfect demonstration of how Sagat is too strong in this game.

Posted by ¿? on November 16, 2009 at 2:13 p.m. #18

@6 yeah, I guess you are right. He was great on the Ryu vs Viper match, A LOT better than on those videos shown a few days ago.

Not to mention his El Fuerte play demonstrated his crazy execution.

Damn Akuma and his st. rh loop... 'Tis the bane of all big hitbox characters. If Akuma gets a stun/stamina buff I'm gonna cry.

What did the Corean government pay Kyabetsu to miss all those links including a basic ultra combo?

Posted by Henry on November 16, 2009 at 5:42 p.m. #21

Jab into Roundhouse loop with Akuma was god-like, damn.

Posted by akumoo on November 16, 2009 at 8:14 p.m. #22

akuma is like a hidden boss, you need to do a lot of effort to actually use him properly

Posted by chickenwings on November 17, 2009 at 2:35 a.m. #23

@18

I agree. akuma was puting in work that whole round and all it took was basicly stand short fireball and then a tiger upper and roundhouse to get back in the game. And if he hit him with the ultra he could have actually won.

Posted by Gouki on November 17, 2009 at 4:22 a.m. #24

Nice gouki. Momochi is the best akuma for me !!!!! He uses him propely and safely. So he have a good mix up when it is necessery.

Not being funny but when you start off the game going "Tiger shot tiger shot tiger shot" I have doubts about him being a good Sagat player. Same goes for using Guile. Sonic boom is a good method granted, but if they jump towards you, you're open especially when firing more than one.
the Gouki player. I have no complaints about, he handled that nicely considering it doesn't take much from Sagat with the hefty output of damage and Gouki's weak defense.

Posted by fail on November 18, 2009 at 10:16 a.m. #26

#25 for the fail.

Ask any top player from whatever country you're from and I'm sure they'll have "no complaints" about Momochi and Mago either.

Posted by Francys Pai on November 18, 2009 at 1:24 p.m. #27

Why? Do you play Sagat that faggy aswell?

Pathetic play style. It's laughable.

Posted by Remember on November 18, 2009 at 2:49 p.m. #28

Aren't these Korean machines? They're prolly using Korean parts, which the Japanese aren't used to.

Posted by .. on November 18, 2009 at 3:21 p.m. #29

Uhm. All arcade sticks work practically the same? They just have different response time based on manufacturer, for example. Sanwa parts have better response than Hori, their shape when placed on a circuit board in front of you really isn't different.

#27 get mulled by scrub sagats all day

Posted by Francys Pai on November 18, 2009 at 11:43 p.m. #31

It's honestly quite making my day on amusement watching all of you fanboys attempt to insult me.

Psst, just so you know, it's not working.
