National tournament details for Japan
The Japanese Super Street Fighter 4 blog was updated again recently offering some new details about the 2nd national tournament being held in Japan.
- Tournament will be a 3 vs. 3 team competition.
- Single match per player, best two out of three rounds format.
- Cannot have duplicate characters on the same team, i.e. couldn't make a squad with two or more Sagat players.
- The winning team will earn the right to go to the final tournament and receive the title of 'Most Wanted 2010'. However the winning team cannot refuse to go to the final tournament. Capcom will pay the transportation costs to and from the tournament for the qualifying teams.
- The runner-up team will receive the title of 'Untamed Spirit 2010'.
Unfortunately the rest of the entry talks about food and we don't get any new Super Street Fighter 4 details.

I like this format... it is really a great idea and it is a nice way to "force" people to play something else than just top tier.
On the other hand, it must be quite tough on the Japanese players. If I remember clearly, most japanese like to focus/play one character only. Therefore, I am sure some players are "forced" not to play together.

Another Tournament! I wonder How Justin Wong will do in this one?? Does Justin Wong play in teams or Just by himself??
I have never played in a team In SF4 due to being of the old version where I have no team options. Hopefully soon the team option is to be enabled for me.
I wish you luck in New Tournament Justin Wong. I hope to play you soon. By Next Tournament I should have new version with Team Fighting so I will be eligible to enter the fighting and together we can know the results!

I am sorry but I am not fighting in Smash Bros I do not have Wii.
I play SF4 - Soon to be SSF4 I Hope! - and I also play Tekken 5 ( I Have Not yet received Tekken 6 ).
I take my fighting in SF4 ( And Tekken ) Very Seriously.
My main is Ken and my second main fighting is Blanka and I have a secret third fighting to be revealed at Later time.
I train fighting Every Day. I am always improving my fighting. One Day I hope to be EVO winner. I hope to accomplish this task against Justin Wong.
That is Why I hope he performs well in this Tournament to assure us that he qualifies in EVO.

No Not Akuma Not Ryu I would not choose another SHORYUKEN character as my secret main fighting third because I Am already main fighting Ken and they are very similar so I would not be surprising my opponents.
I am not joking I really do hope to be good enough to qualify and win in the EVO for next year.
Currently I work on combos that begin with TWO X LP for my Ken.
As Always I keep Training and hoping to be the winner.

Not allowing duplicate characters on the same team sounds interesting for the ssf4 team fights. It would really help with variety in match ups instead of the same old ryu/sagat/balrog/ken.

Yes No Duplicates is definitely creating new interest in Tournament.
If I get picked for a team I will be hopeful that No One will already have been fighting Ken so I could use my main fighting.

Now that i think about it alittle more. No duplicates for team matchs in ssf4 would be really good. It could really take advantage of the character point system. If 2 players both choice ryu(like that isnt gonna happen LOL) the player with the most points with him would get the right to use him(he would have honestly earned it). It would really give players more motavation to either learn 2 or three characters,(maybe even learn some of the less popular characters)or really commit to thier fighter.I really think capcom needs to bring this to ssf4. The whole team battle thing came from the tournaments so i dont see why they shouldnt just use the same rules/guidlines for online play.

What tourneys are you guys going to? "No duplicate characters" isn't exactly a new and brilliant idea. It's a common sense rule in every team tourney I've ever been a part of, and every team tourney I've ever seen advertised!
