Justin Wong demonstrates a few tricks with Akuma's Ultra

Frame-Advantage.com and Justin Wong have posted a video to YouTube showing you a few tricks with Akuma's Raging Demon Ultra move in Street Fighter 4.

Posted by zukuu on November 12, 2009 at 1:26 a.m. #1

u can cancel into demon from quite a few moves like Standing HK etc

Posted by feaf on November 12, 2009 at 1:57 a.m. #2

That sweep into ultra is a good trick, I'll file that one away for the rare occasion I use Akuma

Posted by skid5jack on November 12, 2009 at 2:24 a.m. #3

Cool tips. Didn't know you could mash lp, sk & hk @ once
Shame the video wasn't more professional like neorussell's

Posted by the frenchie on November 12, 2009 at 2:28 a.m. #4

you can also land akuma's ultra into EX rekka ken ...

Posted by Shredelicious on November 12, 2009 at 3:01 a.m. #5

Momochi status.

Posted by meh on November 12, 2009 at 3:25 a.m. #6

where was the anti-air demon? lordofultima does it better...

Posted by tongue in cheek on November 12, 2009 at 4:25 a.m. #7

"Raioo"? This guy's opinion is worthless!

Posted by chanz on November 12, 2009 at 4:38 a.m. #8

Thank you for posting this Justin. I am not of Akuma fighting but I do enjoy to see how others play different fightings so I can learn how to avoid devious ploys. I will study very hard so I can play you and Possibly Defeat you at next Evo!!!

Am I the only one who notices that Justim says Rye-Ooh and not Ree-Ooh?
After 3 years of Japanese, this bugs me to death..

Posted by jcool813 on November 12, 2009 at 4:53 a.m. #10

even tho the tricks have been put on youtube still good stuff.

Posted by Kikimaru on November 12, 2009 at 5:16 a.m. #11

@6: loltima didn't cover these tricks in his Demon tutorials IIRC (though they are much, MUCH better produced than this).

Posted by nameless... on November 12, 2009 at 5:29 a.m. #12

actually kikimaru he covered all of this and even more in the demon tutorials....justin is late with all of this...

Posted by loser on November 12, 2009 at 5:34 a.m. #13

@Kikimaru: yes he did

Posted by Nameless on November 12, 2009 at 6:12 a.m. #14

@blahblah

either way its wrong, its ree-you and not ree-ooh from KoF

Posted by The Unnamed One on November 12, 2009 at 6:36 a.m. #15

WOW, 3 years of japanese, that's really awesome. I wish I knew as much about japanese as all you guys. it must be really annoying when people who don't know about japanese still express their opinions? i wish i was japanese. maybe one day i will be japanese if i start learning how to pronounce japanese words?

Posted by swift on November 12, 2009 at 6:55 a.m. #16

Akuma still suck...gen all day wheres my boy yeb at?

Posted by vmc on November 12, 2009 at 8:12 a.m. #17

Alright, i didn't really like Justin a while back... but he seems to be a cool guy after all... altough some people know this tips, others don't. So, Let's keep it cool everyone.

Posted by Soul Hoe on November 12, 2009 at 8:15 a.m. #18

Yeah, some good Gen tutorials would be nice. I'd love to pick up Gen, but my TE isn't working on my PC right now. Would be pretty counter-productive trying to learn him on a pad.

"Am I the only one who notices that Justim says Rye-Ooh and not Ree-Ooh?
After 3 years of Japanese, this bugs me to death.."

Neither is correct.

Posted by tongue in cheek on November 12, 2009 at 9:25 a.m. #20

@ #9

see my post on #7

and ree-ooh is wrong, as people have mentioned.

closest thing in english (maybe my brit accent...) is r'you.. one syllable bitches. (apostrophe = clipped e)

Posted by StrayX on November 12, 2009 at 9:35 a.m. #21

And that's why they gave us Ken... a shoto with a name we can pronounce.

Posted by zukuu on November 12, 2009 at 9:50 a.m. #22

dunno whats so difficult to pronounce about RYU.

well us guys also say "kwoih" for "kawaii" :D

Posted by jiorwea on November 12, 2009 at 10:32 a.m. #23

Thought they were going to be obscure tricks and not raging demon 101 stuff.

Posted by ally battles on November 12, 2009 at 11:25 a.m. #24

does anyone else click every one of these articles just to read chanz' posts?

Posted by wtf on November 12, 2009 at 11:27 a.m. #25

What was that hand at the end?

Posted by xBANDITx on November 12, 2009 at 11:34 a.m. #26

Akuma was my main and I still break him out once in awhile but I've done too much homework on him, lol. I like seeing him featured in more videos but it's unfortunate that it's nothing new to me :(

Still waiting to see something I haven't already done; maybe one day.

Has Akumas 2nd Ultra been confirmed yet for SSF4? I really want his "ground pound" from 3rd Strike; it would be much more useful as an anti-air over throwing a large in air Shoru

Posted by You Dervish on November 12, 2009 at 11:50 a.m. #27

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the correct response to "stupid person doing FA2+ next to me" always "ULTRA!" regardless of character?

Posted by ultrad on November 12, 2009 at 11:55 a.m. #28

who in the ass cares how people in other countries pronounce a name? are you saying el fuerte, fei long, or zangief right? i'd bet you're not. call the characters whatever you want, it makes no difference. i say rye-oo, some of us say ree-oo, some of us say roo, whatever. we all know what character we're talking about. we speak a language known for adopting words from other languages and making them its own. the japanese pronounce english words differently, and vice versa. HOW DID YOU JUST PRONOUNCE VICE VERSA IN YOUR HEAD?

anyway, good stuff putting out vids, guys.

i know you do nothing but read eventhubs all day except when you're losing to diego hummerz

drop fei and bring back sakz

Posted by Ninjastar Boss on November 12, 2009 at 2:24 p.m. #31

Seeing Justin's fingers at the very end felt surreal. Like I didn't even notice it was his fingers on the akuma ultra animation lol.

Posted by Ninjastar Boss on November 12, 2009 at 2:26 p.m. #32

I hope Akuma's second ultra is the super hadouken (forget the name) from 3rd strike. the one he can do in the air or on the ground. that sh*t would be awesome just like Ryu's ultra.

Posted by @#30 on November 12, 2009 at 2:27 p.m. #33

Ryu is Japanese. His name is Ryu in Japanese. A name is a name regardless of language. You don't go around calling him Dragon now, do you?

I'm pretty sure the same people bitching about Ryu's pronunciation go to some lengths to get the other characters' names correct too.

Posted by slap on November 12, 2009 at 2:31 p.m. #34

@26
if you look at it, you're suppose to put your hand out and let the person slap your hand

Posted by hey 35 what are you shakespeare? on November 12, 2009 at 3:25 p.m. #35

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

also ryu is pronounced like an american would say the word "renew" sans the "n" and the "re" and "ew" are mashed into one syllable.

Posted by lol on November 12, 2009 at 4:22 p.m. #36

god damn weaboo's.

Posted by call him whatever you want on November 12, 2009 at 4:41 p.m. #37

but Ryu will always be the characters ri and yu mashed next to each other. Japanese has pretty definite grammar and pronunciation. Honestly if you don't care and want to say what you are used to then go ahead. Just a little surprised to see this old debate back in action.

Posted by LOL on November 12, 2009 at 4:41 p.m. #38

lol at end

Posted by Kikimaru on November 12, 2009 at 5:26 p.m. #39

@#12 & #13:
I just checked, and he didn't mention using Ultra Demon to counter a FA'd sweep, or to counter a reversal Super after blocked sweep.

Posted by Geese on November 12, 2009 at 5:41 p.m. #40

For SSFIV, they need to make Akuma's super the Messastsu Super Hadouken from 3rd Strike and his 2nd ultra the the ground pound from 3S as well. Having two raging demons is boring.

Posted by MickeyD on November 12, 2009 at 6:36 p.m. #41

Awesome rundown of how to use Raging Demon more affectively!

Posted by Pumpernickel on November 12, 2009 at 6:57 p.m. #42

RYE-ooh sounds a lot better than reee-ooh, so I say it like that right or wrong reeeooh just sounds bad and is harder to say.

Posted by a on November 12, 2009 at 9:37 p.m. #43

i guess wong doesnt know the fastest way to demon is the plink version. 2 input only

Posted by Actually on November 12, 2009 at 9:44 p.m. #44

Ree-ooh, and Rye-ooh would be both wrong.

One syllable word, but "R" wouldn't be pronounced like it is in english. I'd probably liken it to the spanish pronunciation of "R" as in something like "regalo."

Also the same pronunciation of the "L" sound which is why Japs suck at english R's and L's, and by that logic, Capcom's had two female characters with practically the same name, Juri & Juli.

Posted by Andthenwuthappened on November 12, 2009 at 11:41 p.m. #45

Ever play Alpha 2, pick Ryu and the announcer SFX reads it soo fast it sounds like DYU.

That guy's wrong too? Sounds like a Japanese speaker though.

"STREET FIGHTER ALPHA TWO"
*coin drop sound when hit start*
"STREET FIGHTAH ALPHA TWO"

Posted by some dude on November 13, 2009 at 7:52 a.m. #46

do this against balrog's ex punches. you're welcome.

Posted by not so good on November 13, 2009 at 11:15 a.m. #47

that video tbh with you was, meh at best...

Posted by @46 on November 13, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. #48

in Japanese, the letter that gets written as "R" in translations is kind of a cross between L, R and D in the way it sounds. It doesn't really equate to any consonant sound in English.

Posted by @40 on November 13, 2009 at 2:13 p.m. #49

@40. He doesn't say it directly, but he does state that the demon has invulnerable frames and can go through supers and ultras, specifically Ryu's. So it's sort of implied

Posted by baz on November 15, 2009 at 1:10 a.m. #50

You pronounce it " ARE YOU "

;-)

Posted by chickenwings on November 15, 2009 at 9:05 a.m. #51

Why would people post anything negative about this vid? Even if u know the combo/setup its good to see some of the top guys laying down some knowledge. Improveing from the ground up is just good for the community.
