GameSpot interviews Seth about SSF4
GameSpot captured Seth Killian for awhile and got him to talk a bit more about Super Street Fighter 4.
The clip digs into the special moves and offers a bit more gameplay footage showing the 3 characters you've probably seen a lot of now.
Seth also covers the recently announced bonus stages, online modes and other things, but he doesn't offer up any thing you haven't heard before if you've been keeping up with the game.

I don't remember seeing anything about Wall Bounce before. Sweet. Now they just need Stagger and Slide and it's ACCENT CORE all over the place. :D

Wallbounce was mentioned before with Juri: http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2009/...
It mentions her EX-Dive Kick has the wallbounce property. It's not a bad interview though, just not anything new.

Not that wall bounce crap. Vanilla SF4 is like the only current fighting game that has just the right amount of juggle. Namco destroyed their fighting franchises by turning them into juggle fests. PLease capcom don't sacrifice quality old school fighting for fancy looking juggle crap that takes away from mind games. If anything they need to very slightly reduce juggles NOT add more.
PLEASE don't turn this into Tekken post tag or make stupid characters like Yun/Yang that are top tier because they juggle you to death.

Machine gun punch is gonna be useless. Why do they have to mess him up like that. everything else looks great and very similar to turbo. Whats so hard about down charge up and punch? WHat moron at capcom though this was a good idea? Look at it? it had no range, and it doesnt move forward. With the charge command u could actually use it but with this mash non sense its gonna be as useful as current bisons crusher.

Just because you suck at Tekken doesn't mean you have to bash Street Fighter going in a new direction. If you want it to play like the older games, buy the older games. Or actually try to enjoy playing different types of fighting games.
Posted by @ Babble on November 12, 2009 at 9:28 p.m. #21
I don't suck at Tekken, or at least I didn't back in Tekken Tag days. I placed top 3 at many local tournaments. While I'm sure Tekken 6 is a decent fighter it isn't on par with Tag. Did you ever see the interview of this years evo Tekken 6 champ? He said that the only thing that matters in high level play is landing a launcher into a high damage juggle. This is the reason why all old school Tekken players left after Tag. They even had to increase the life bar on Tekken 6 because their are so many juggles.
I'm sorry but I play a fighting game to fight, not to show off my juggle combo skills. You can light a cigarette and have a few puffs before good juggles are over.
Keep that crap in casual fighters like the new Tekkens and away from sf4 which has very solid gameplay so far.

Wall bounce is why Hugo was fun for me in Sf3, so ill welcome the addition. Theres no way they would let it get out of hand or anything.

Will the DLC (costumes) for SF4 work in SSF4?
Posted by ehhh on November 12, 2009 at 9:39 p.m. #24
@oiplaysSF
As long as they keep it that way it should be fine.Moves like Hugos' are not a problem. I just got nervous cause Seth Killian said wall bounce SYSTEM, like suddenly every characters going to now have wall bounce combos or something stupid. Hopefully I'm overreacting since Capcom has a good record of not screwing up their fighters like Namco has done. They seem to have learned their lessons from custom combos and hopefully don't make anyone in SSF4 juggle like Yun.

Yeah SF has a good track record when it comes to balance. SF4 is really balanced despite what people say. Sagat is bad, but I've seen worse, way worse, even in 2D fighters. Besides you-know-who already has a decent over-powered juggle.
Posted by yes4me on November 12, 2009 at 10:08 p.m. #28
wow... the people who are playing at the beginning are bunch of idiots. Instead of fooling around and having a good time, they should be showing what each character do. That's the difference between playing as a fan and a reportage. They spend their time trying to beat each other even if the life is infinite, instead of showing every moves. Therefore we don't get to see these bounce on the wall thingy, but we get to watch everything blocked, c.HK*4(from the Deejee player) and so on... That bounce idea kinds of remind me Tekken somehow...
I am still confident about SSF4 on PC. It is not out of the table, because they are simply busy trying to release the game first. No problem. As I wrote before, I think it is going to be release first in arcade, then console and then PC (6 month min after everything, one year from now at the earliest). The release will hurt nobody who doesn't have PC, and will be a great addition to the PC games. It is a win/win situation for fans.
Posted by @yes4me on November 12, 2009 at 10:22 p.m. #29
urgh, you obviously think highly of your own opinion, otherwise you wouldn't type so much.
1. Releasing SSF4 6 months later on the PC is only "win/win" in the sense that it gets released on the PC at All. it's not a win for the PC-only players. SF4 had good reasons for coming late to the PC: They wanted to see how it did sales wise, they had to write a bunch more code to ensure it handled various hardware setups etc.
The base engine code is all there now, they've got much less reason to be releasing it so much later than the consoles this time around. Really, the development should be done concurrently for all platforms.
2. "Stop acting like bunch of kids and please focus. You either like this game or don't."
Uh, maybe you're special, but none of the rest of us even have this game, so it's a bit hard to like or dislike something that you've only seen youtube videos of.
Get over yourself.

Hello Seth Thank You for doing interview I enjoy knowing the new things that are to be in SSF4 to make this game even more of the experience.
I am hoping to see some new characters being played before Christmas Time this will be a Christmas present for me!
I am very interested to be knowledgable of the new Ultra System I have seen people write on.
Will there be 2 Ultras for Each Character now???
Many apologies for my typing I am eating orange and my fingers are stick but when I watched interview I was excited and had to write to say Thank You and to say Keep Up Good Work.

i just want to know what other characters are gonna be in this game. im rooting for karin to be on that list. some agree, some disagree, but at least tell us who are in so we as fans can give you tips on what can make these characters better before release. dont need pictures of them yet. just give us names. thats all i ask for capcom. be a pal. lol

#29: I think YOU are full of yourself.
"SF4 had good reasons for coming late to the PC". Yeah I know these reasons... I am just writing about people who are against a PC release.
"Stop acting like bunch of kids and please focus. You either like this game or don't."
That comment was about some post who was talking about a different game in this section. My post got edited somehow, but how about you read my post fully before commenting next time.
If you are so confident about yourself, give yourself a tagname and use it all the time, that way we all know where you stand each time.

totally agree with Babble and ehhh on wall juggle... combos are quite hard in sf4 and cool to pull off but if you mess up ur opponent has the chance to punish because most combos are executed with characters on their feet not hanging in mid air 4 ages ... dont get me wrong air combos in sf4 are cool but have limits which is also cool on the other hand some sf4 characters do need fixing because they dont have so many combo options as others like ryu and rufus.
PS: some versions of sf had some bad features which should be avoided not brought back
Posted by M on November 13, 2009 at 2:59 a.m. #47
Why are all the people that play SSF4 scrubs (like these two punks). Why can't they just get only top players to try it out like when Justin Wong did and tried to do basic combos to show what the character is like. It's so annoying watching these scrubs spam Juri's EX spin kick. At least go through their normals..
Posted by BK on November 13, 2009 at 3:19 a.m. #48
@yes4me
i see what your saying, and now that they found out that they can put sf4 on pc, im sure with that they can update and tweek it with no problem now, so i dont really expect a delay for pc. to me, its just the time length. i dont think they put enough time into a game cause they set a short time spand for the release. if they took their time, i guarntee games would be alot better than the stuff we have now. tekken took 3 years (give or take) to come out, but the advertisement was out. crappy endings, but the graphics looks good and to me, its a fun game to play. same goes for final fantasy 13. been advertising for years and its still not out yet. i guarntee if capcom extended the time longer, not only would they be able to add more characters to the game (they did say 8ish), but we wouldnt have to worry about all these errors and stuff. this is the new gen consoles. with all the super high def graphics these games have, capcom can offer more than what their giving us. cant wait for the release, but if they extend the time length to really spice up the game, i got more than enough patience. my money will still be here for it. dont rush it capcom. your fans will wait for you. lol

Good call Capcom, steal yet another feature from SNK fighters and pretend it's your own. First the rage meter (or "revenge meter") from Samurai Shodown and now the critical wire (or "wall bounce") from King of Fighters. *YAWN*
Granted, the Focus Attack system was really innovative but come on, at least give SOME credit to your competition.
Posted by @hexelf on November 13, 2009 at 6:45 a.m. #58
Wallbouncing was in sf3 over 10 years ago and can be dated back to early mortal komnat. idiot.
Posted by Hexelf on November 13, 2009 at 6:53 a.m. #59
And sf3's "innovative" parries debuted in SS2 - FIFTEEN years ago, don't try going all fighting game history on me. Capcom get a lot more credit than they deserve for innovating the genre and they know it.
Posted by rolento on November 13, 2009 at 7:17 a.m. #60

@ #47
I totally agree.
Posted by Danjitsu on November 13, 2009 at 8:56 a.m. #65
Well it sounded to me like it was dependent on the power of the attack not which character you pick, the game would not be balanced if some could do it and some couldn't.
Posted by Te1vanni on November 13, 2009 at 11:07 a.m. #66
@49: That's what it seems like to me. It'd be nice to see what DeeJay's second one is.
In other news: The wallbounce sounds like it's only going to be for certain moves. It isn't like you hit someone enough times to make them back into a wall they're going to treat it like a hit and bounce off. It's more like certain moves are going to cause the character to bounce off the wall.
At least, that's how I heard it.
Posted by Te1vanni on November 13, 2009 at 11:11 a.m. #67
@65:
They probably look at it on a character basis. Let's take Sagat for example. Imagine if his Tiger Knee could wall-bounce. It definately has the power to. If it could, that means that Sagat just got another way to combo into Ultra. How is that balance?
Certain characters don't need wall bounce attacks because they're strong enough without them. I'm sure pretty much every character will have at least one.
And I'm sure an Ultra combo will arise from it and will have people chanting about OverPowered.

Wow if you think the change of machine gun punch to a mash is bad for Deejay you obviously suck. If charge characters lack in any department it's in good punishing options when you don't have a charge. Focus crumple, dash, crouching strong into ex-machine gun is now a viable option.
How exactly does changing the command make it any less useful in any of his old comboes? Mashing the buttons too hard for you or something? If anything the machine gun upper combos are now easier to execute. Grow a brain.
Posted by what on November 13, 2009 at 12:54 p.m. #71
if Ryu gets a wall bounces he will have another way to combo his ultra (like he needs any more).

Gotta love people saying Capcom stole parrys, wall bounces, etc from SNK. They don't owe SNK anything. They never bragged about it being innovative. Fans may have said that to build hype, but not Capcom directly.
