Street Fighter 4 Akuma combo expo video

Mt. Symbal sent in this Akuma combo movie which starts off with some things you may have seen before in some matches, but transitions into the crazy stuff you expect from most combo videos.

The video creators also show you some practical setups for Akuma as well.

It's such a shame that those final combos did such little damage due to damage scailing. That final Raging Demon did less than simple fierce punch.

Impressive

I'm surprised none of the combos stunned. I wish seth had that far standing roundhouse instead of the sucky one he has.

HIS setup combos does more than mOST character supers and ultras!!!

32 combos at 8:12...
at 4:18 he takes Gief from the right end to the left end.
just... wow

Posted by k0rr1 on November 8, 2009 at 9:51 p.m. #11

pretty sick but otherwise useless in actual battle due to damage scaling.

Posted by @k0rr1 on November 8, 2009 at 10:17 p.m. #12

Well the point of these type of videos is just to show what can be done. As well as show off a little ;). I think its funny when people say "yeah but they're useless combos." Who cares? They're still really cool to see.

I cannot perform combos of Akuma as this but my KEN (my main fighting) combos can inflict damage that is equal to some of these Akuma combos but combos that maybe are not as much inflcting damage but still to see it I am impressed.

"Blatz The Speakerz used a keyboard"

f*ck yeah , it's been years i tell people keyboard is awesome to play fighting games.

Posted by Dafro1989 on November 9, 2009 at 1:42 a.m. #17

32 hit combo... that's a nice showcase for the combo system. It is quite remarkable that something as simple as FADC being able to create stuff like this. Capcom should really be applauded, for tinkering enough to make the game feel fresh without changing the core of what made Street Fighter... Street Fighter!

Posted by Madness on November 9, 2009 at 1:48 a.m. #18

Wooot pc version ftw. I miss playing akuma, he looks so damn fun and his combos aren't even that hard, make it that way for some of the characters who need more combos!! Akuma is an example of a perfectly balanced character imo, ultra is good but not noob friendly and doesn't counter everything. Moves are good but not invincible. Combos are good but not retarded, has alot of strengths but a clear weakness

Lets balance everyone in the game like akuma, he's the role model character in the game, so awesome that he's tied for top 3 but yet most people think he's mid tier

Posted by Kabbila on November 9, 2009 at 2:13 a.m. #19

The good thing is that the combo system is balanced.

But it's a waste how he uses ultra to end with 40 combo, baraly adding dammage.

Some of that stuff is sick still

Posted by chickenwings on November 9, 2009 at 2:17 a.m. #20

@madness

I have to agree with that. Akuma, dlahsim and viper are very very balanced for the tools/options they have. THere not like characters like guile with crap options, and not like ryu/sagat with no weakness. My only beef with akuma and dhalsim in reality isnt even with there characters but rather with the game design. HUGE stages makes there run away game abuseable at times.

cry more

Posted by HolyG on November 9, 2009 at 3:17 a.m. #22

Sagat will do that damage in like a 3 hit combo ending with EX uppercut lol

Posted by chickenwings on November 9, 2009 at 3:25 a.m. #23

@21

says the ryu player. Dude if u think useing ryu is hard u must also think panting ur pants on in the morning is challenging.

Cool video thank god for damage scaling : )

Posted by pad is easy on November 9, 2009 at 8:23 a.m. #31

None of these are really that hard. A pad is just as easy as a stick.

But a keyboard is another thing

Posted by Te1vanni on November 9, 2009 at 8:38 a.m. #32

What I took from this:

You can combo Akuma's close range Fireball into a Raging Demon. Very risky.

By the way.. I have to ask. Was the computer on Auto-Block? The combo system in SF4 is different from the one in say HDRemix. It counts every hit you make (within' a certain time frame) as a part of the combo even if they wouldn't necessarily link. In other words: Combos that could be blocked, but aren't, still count towards the combo.

Still. Amazing moves either way. Congrats to both of you.

^lolwut?

Posted by IrPanda on November 9, 2009 at 8:53 a.m. #34

@Te1vanni
Firstly it wasn't in training mode. Secondly no , the combo count only shows things that will connect i don't know where you got that idea from, i guess you don't play the game very often.

Posted by Te1vanni on November 9, 2009 at 8:56 a.m. #35

Go ahead and set the computer to Never Block. Then throw three jabs. Space em out.

Then set it to Auto-Block. Throw three jabs.

If they aren't links, the computer will block them.

Posted by IrPanda on November 9, 2009 at 9:04 a.m. #36

Once you see the combo in the corner saying you did a 3 hit combo thats means it was a combo, if it wasn't you would see less hits.

Posted by Te1vanni on November 9, 2009 at 9:08 a.m. #37

The three hit combo (in Street Fighter 4) means you landed three blows without a defense. It doesn't mean you landed three blows that couldn't be defended against.

Posted by @Te1vanni on November 9, 2009 at 9:11 a.m. #38

Your talking rubbish. You and chickenwings should probably get together, you'd make a good couple. Combos cannot be interrupted unless they're mucked up by the person doing them. Explanation you've done your combo wrong.

Posted by Hamster on November 9, 2009 at 9:12 a.m. #39

Though there were some nice combos in this video, this 11 minute video was about 5 minutes too long. It seemed as if the combo creator included combos for the sake of having more combos packed in the vid.

There were a good number of times where the same combo would be done twice or even three times with an alternate ender.

Also it really could have done without a lot of these combos, especially at the beginning. Why not include cr. MK XX Fireball, cr. MK XX EX Fireball and j. HK > cr. HK as well if you're going to include other basic stuff.

Good vid, good combos, just needs more editing. A lot of the content in the video really watered down the impact of the good stuff.

Posted by IrPanda on November 9, 2009 at 9:16 a.m. #40

@Teivanni
Yes it does mean that.Where are you getting your information from. Once you see how much ever hit combo at the side that means it was a combo and could not be interrupted. I am %100 sure about this.

Posted by Te1vanni on November 9, 2009 at 9:19 a.m. #41

Believing me or telling me I'm confused isn't the important part. It's trying it out yourself that'll prove me wrong or right. I've seen it myself and I do know what I'm talking about.

Just because you have a combo doesn't mean you didn't screw up a link. It means the other character did not defend when they could have. This was true in other games like HDRemix. Here, it isn't. Combos can be defended against if your linking is off.

As long as you hit 4 times in quick succession, it doesn't matter if it was a link or not. You'll get the combo. My -guess- is because the frame window for the combo is larger than the frame window for the links.

Who knows? I may be wrong. Try it yourself and find out.

Posted by IrPanda on November 9, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. #42

I have tried it out several times before i play SF4 alot ( maybe to much) i would be playing now if i didn't lend a friend. I know the combo mechanics in the game and once its says (whatever no. combo) its is a sure hit combo once you have the timing right. You try it yourself and see, use the record feature throw oppoent walk in then do combo , put it in playback and try to block after 1st hit i am certain you would see the same amount combo as it did before ( once you did not move backward and change the spacing )

Posted by Hooded on November 9, 2009 at 9:35 a.m. #43

Panda knows all!

Posted by Te1vanni on November 9, 2009 at 9:39 a.m. #44

I will have to try that. (If I could ever find my SFIV) All I know is that the links on the challenge mode are much harder compared to pulling them off on the computer.

Posted by Strider-RagnaroK on November 9, 2009 at 11:03 a.m. #45

Dam with a Keyboard that is sick not for the punches and kicks but for the movement and motions

Posted by IrPanda on November 9, 2009 at 11:03 a.m. #46

That can happen for many reason you may start link of counter which makes it easier to link sometimes, also move affect different characters differently and imo dan is the hardest to link moves against he has some funny movements and reactions sometimes.

Posted by I am wowed on November 9, 2009 at 11:17 a.m. #47

This video is the best Street Fighter 4 combo video I have ever seen. Did you see how the demon is linked?! My jaw dropped.

Posted by lolwat on November 9, 2009 at 12:20 p.m. #48

Te1vanni, you seem to be confused. No, there is no difference between landing a 3-hit combo against an opponent that is or isn't blocking after the first hit. You are mistaken.

Now, you do get a slightly longer window to connect a second attack after landing a counter hit. Maybe that is what you are thinking of? That's why there is a setting in training mode options to set it so that the first attack in a combo shows up as a counter hit or not. However, when this happens you see the words "Counter Hit" on the screen, and this doesn't appear in the video. Also it only applies to the first hit of a combo allowing the second hit to be later than if it wasn't a counter hit.

Posted by waya121 on November 9, 2009 at 12:37 p.m. #49

lol the last combo on Rufus was cool but it only tickled him
xD

Posted by @Te1vanni on November 9, 2009 at 1:17 p.m. #50

Any move being done inside of a combo is unblockable. What's probably going on here is that your timing is off and instead of doing the full combo like you planned you messed up the timing somewhere in the combo. In that case the opponent can block at the very moment you mess up because your combo has ended. If you where to hit the opponent, even after messing up the combo, it would be the start of a new combo. Hope this clears it up for u.

Posted by classy on November 9, 2009 at 1:55 p.m. #51

yeah.. amazing combos made useless by the noob friendly system...

i'd like to see people make more use of the FA crumple combo in a real game.. the timing is strict but it seems to be an awesome setup..

blah nobody would do it cuz damage scaling sucks balls and rather save meter for the same combos we see everytime cuz it works

ssf4 make them useful so we have more stuff to do, im tired of my bread and butters

Posted by HolyG on November 9, 2009 at 2:18 p.m. #52

Te1vanni you're a goose. WTF are you raving on about? If the computer shows "xx hit combo" then it doesn't matter if the guy getting hit was trying to block or spamming shoryuken or doing nothing. Once a combo starts and the attacker is connecting everything correctly the subsequent COMBOED hits are unblockable.

Posted by Ninjastar Boss on November 9, 2009 at 2:39 p.m. #53

Damn, this video is good.

I wonder if there are people out there that can do these type of combos on an arcade stick.

Keep on hitting us with these combo vids! I want to see a Seth combo expo next :D I know its really easy to perform 40+ hit combos with Seth (I've done them accidentally lol), so I would love to see what you guys can come up with.

lol. watchig this video made me realize that people just to show off do this sh/t. in a real match he'd probaply do at least 1 of this combo. im not hating, its very good video but there are many losers out there that will say "oh sh/t very good player!!" i hate them scrubs

Posted by @JerseyFame on November 10, 2009 at 3:42 p.m. #61

FADC helps Guile out. You can use it to follow HP Sonic Booms, cancel some of his slower normals when you've been a bit silly etc.
but I know what you mean.
Hopefully he'll be better in SSF4 since Ono stated that his inability to combo into his Ultra was a definite problem.

Posted by Homieee on November 11, 2009 at 9:39 a.m. #62

Dude discovering a way to combo akumas ultra without a focus is like discovering a cure for cancer congratulations man, and ROFL at the grammar dudes that was so funny ''panting my pants'' haha couldnt stop laughing

People still dont get it..
Combo videos are made for that exact reason to show off, be flashy.
Dont get combo videos mixed up with fundamentals of combos.

This combo video shows fundamentals as well.
