While you see a lot of different gaming outlets offering up their own awards every year on who had the best of show, there's also the Game Critics Awards, which is voted on by editors from 29 publications, ranging from IGN to PC Gamer.

According to Kotaku.com Tatsunoko vs. Capcom walked home with best fighting game. It beat out other titles such as Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, Tekken 6 and The King of Fighters XII.
