Seth Killian and Christian Svensson were back on the Capcom Forums recently, covering a couple of different topics. Will we ever see a Marvel vs. Capcom 3? The release of MvC2 should make this possible.
Seth: [...] Our deal with Marvel for MvC2 was specifically to rerelease the original game, adding only the features we've already announced (the new graphics, online, custom soundtracks, etc.).
We certainly realize the fan interest in an MvC3 (now that we've done SFIV, BC, etc., it's probably the most-requested title), and it would be a lot of fun if all the planets line up properly.
Will there ever be a true sequel to Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, that keeps the advanced things like parries and stuff? Didn't Ono say the next game would become more complex/go back to the Third Strike engine, or have you guys ruled that out?
Seth: I don't think Ono-san ever said anything like that, or certainly not that exactly, but in any event, "this is ruled out" just aint the way things work.
Sometimes we surprise ourselves, but certainly revisiting SFIII has been discussed internally. As Sven has said here, the graphics would be a particular challenge given the number of animated frames in that game. There's also a lot already happening in the fighting game space for Capcom right now. We realize there are still franchises with hardcore fans that haven't been revisited (Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, SFIII, etc.), but we've definitely got our hands full with fighters lately.
Who will be the new characters in the U.S. release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom?
Sven: No comment on the potential of new characters right now. Sorry. News will trickle out over the coming months. We do have a few surprises left (at least, I hope they're surprises).
Will there be downloadable characters or DLC costumes in Street Fighter IV's future?
Sven: There are no current plans for DLC characters or costumes at the moment. That's all I can say at the moment, sorry.
