Christian Svensson hit the Unity Boards today to comment on a possible HD Remix version of Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, and also discuss their release strategy for upcoming games.
I really hate downloading games, I prefer retail hard copy disc, and so do many people, so I was wondering if an HD remix for Street Fighter 3 was coming out, any chance that we can get both retail and downloadable versions?

Sven: An HD Remix on SF3 would be a challenge in and of itself given the number of frames of animation and effects that would have to be redone, especially in light of what we learned on Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix. As such, the very nature of the project you're suggesting is somewhat unlikely.
But if it were to happen, I would suspect a retail release would also be unlikely given our current strategy for Remixes.
It seems that Capcom doesn't want to invest in doing a lot of HD Remixed titles in the future, considering how big of a project SSF2T HD Remix ended up being.
But the approach they're taking with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 — offering graphical filters and GGPO net code — might end up being the same route they take with Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, if the game ends up being re-released, since that development path sounds a lot easier.
