While we've reported
a few times about a new version of Street Fighter IV very likely being in the works, SF4's lead producer, Yoshinori Ono, gave a speech at Evo that re-enforced these claims.
He essentially stated that they're not going to announce anything now, since the PC version was released not too long ago, and the development team wants to take some vacation time. But Ono hinted that you can expect an announcement soon. Again, many people have assumed this will happen in mid August 2009, at Super Battle Opera — Japan's equivalent to Evo. Later he added that the development team is reading our sites, blogs and forum posts for feedback.
Ono-san also thanked the fans many times for all of their support. He stated that without our enthusiasm for the franchise, Street Fighter 4 wouldn't have happened.
Ono was quite energetic while speaking and seemed like a very genuinely nice person, and it was pretty darn cool to have the lead producer of the Street Fighter 4 development team fly out from Japan to watch this year's competition.
