Bebop3000 on the Shoryuken.com message boards broke news that there was an updated tier listing for Street Fighter 4 put out earlier in the year. We've added this information into our Street Fighter 4 tier listing, and kept the older chart from 2008 right below it.

This update moved Crimson Viper up four spots, and changed the positions of a few other characters.

As a game ages and player strategies evolve, it's interesting to see how a character's overall tier ranking is affected. While nothing about the characters themselves changed — people's perceptions did.

So while these tiers are an alright guideline, remember they're not the end all be all final word on who's a good character in the game.
