Let's Go Justin!!!

Posted by VA on August 26, 2009 at 2:01 a.m. #2

Zangief English voice actor is one of the best in the game.

Should be standard in arcade cabs. So JP players too can fear: "For Mother RUSSIA!" instead of extremely fast Nihongo version during Ultra freeze activate.

Worst VA?
"Yo-da-lay-hee-hooo!"
Keep that guy on JP lang always. One more thing wrong with Vega. Probably his worst nerf/move!

Posted by BIG Z on August 26, 2009 at 2:15 a.m. #3

Monster 'Gief.

'Sim taunt (for some reason?) he gets in and FAB, match.

Huge HP disadvantage to last match (JWong?) Rufus sitting on lead, manages big comeback.

Posted by My Cross on August 26, 2009 at 2:27 a.m. #4

The hell? Why does the post say that Justin is Boxer and Marn is Viper if the whole of Team USA are just going to play Rufus?

Posted by dDD on August 26, 2009 at 2:30 a.m. #5

Lol, they all lost to Gief.

Posted by hmong on August 26, 2009 at 2:32 a.m. #6

hate gief on this game

Posted by Jem on August 26, 2009 at 2:51 a.m. #7

Aloah! That Zangief is MURDER. Why the hell would you taunt mid round? IDIOT!

Posted by Gief_Mobile on August 26, 2009 at 3:03 a.m. #8

To the people who think all Japan players are honorable and cool, just watch Aloha's Zangief taunt Floe's Sagat in that first video.

That was a no class move. WAY, WAY, WAY, no class move. Aloha seems like a dickhead. No wonder that whole team bitched when Team USA was beating them in the first place. Bunch of whiny scrub bitches. F em.

Posted by Heero on August 26, 2009 at 3:05 a.m. #9

sabin(sim) taunt was so ugly lol >.>

sabins sim tauts then gets beat down lol

Posted by G on August 26, 2009 at 4 a.m. #14

After all Team USA deserved to lose, just look at that idiot Sabin, taunting with his Sim and then gets totally destroyed.

What a dumbass.

Posted by SlickVic on August 26, 2009 at 4:04 a.m. #15

@Gief_Mobile

Then I guess the terms "no class move," "dickhead," and "whiny scrub bitches" also applies to JWong and Marn and the typical USA pro-gamer, huh? Because, you know, that's exactly what they do as well at tournies.

Posted by Square eyes on August 26, 2009 at 4:09 a.m. #16

ha ha that should put the little fat boy Justin in his place

Posted by Yeah G on August 26, 2009 at 4:13 a.m. #17

I agree, that was totally stupid.. wtf was that taunt.. if their even gonna think about taunting they should at least, pick out a good one. not the default first one. if thats what really comes to their mind in so many occasions..

Of course they don't host the video of Team LGJ crushing the other team as they proceed to whine about Arturo being on the team AFTER he plays a full match.

gg.

Posted by shichi on August 26, 2009 at 4:56 a.m. #23

Sabin tried to pull an Aloha with the taunt and failed so badly haha. Props to his menacing Sim though

Posted by Noema on August 26, 2009 at 4:59 a.m. #24

Wow, the whole team destroyed team LGJ. It seems no one in the US plays Gief in serious tournaments because they don't consider him tournament viable (due to his bad matchup against Sagat) but the japanese seem to think otherwise.

i still dont like jwong or marns mains, rufus has too many bad match ups against popular characters (sagat, ryu, akuma, zangief)

Good Freaking Gracious, that Geif was the SHIZ man, he had no problems with takeing the whole team on by himself. It was rape man.

I see nothing wrong with taunting what so ever. Its just a mind game tactic.

Posted by @IrPanda on August 26, 2009 at 10:52 a.m. #41

It's also something to make fund out of when it goes horribly wrong ;)

Posted by Wodendog on August 26, 2009 at 11:02 a.m. #42

I've noticed in a few matches that characters like Guile, Ken, and Sagat would do their anti-air move (Flash Kick, Dragon Punch, and Tiger Uppercut), it would get blocked, and then they would cancel out of it and NOT continue to go into the air. They would essentially be safe. How are they doing this?

Posted by teach on August 26, 2009 at 11:19 a.m. #43

FADC (focus attack dash cancel). You focus attack right after the move starts to cancel the rest of the animation. It uses up two ex meter though.

Thanks Teach

That Zangief knew the zoning for Zangief perfectly. Very impressive showing....

Posted by spockk on August 26, 2009 at 11:45 a.m. #46

Man, those were some awesome vids..the last one had some wicked akuma players..wonder if Ed Ma (Professor Ma, PhD..blah blah...gootecks listening??) would stand a chance aginst em...and the final vid showed Daigo make some terrible mistakes...loosing touch maybe? All in all, fantastic viewing !!

Posted by Xander on August 26, 2009 at 11:46 a.m. #47

Some of those Akuma's in the last match were DUMB.

They were doing FADC combos to try and kill a stunned opponent when they had ultra. Save your meter.

Posted by Nyoronoru on August 26, 2009 at 11:53 a.m. #48

Wow, an entire Rufus team? Are they serious?

And taunting mid-round when victory hasn't been decided yet?

Are they dumber than rocks?

Posted by mastersssss on August 26, 2009 at 12:13 p.m. #49

VF High Motivation was good. Props to that Ken player for taking out 3 players on the other team.

Posted by Slobodan on August 26, 2009 at 12:17 p.m. #50

For those of you who aren't aware, the American team was kicking ass until some dishonorable, Japanese whined about stupid crap: Team Let's Go Justin swapped Jangief out for Sabin with the complete knowledge of the event coordinator. The team they were playing against didn't know (or pretended not to know), and demanded a complete do-over, even the matches that Sabin had no involvement in.

Pathetic.

Posted by rumpofsteelskin on August 26, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. #51

top-tier sagat play = 3 moves

Posted by br1x on August 26, 2009 at 12:32 p.m. #52

they didn't "decide" to play with 3 Rufus', they just all played, but i would have loved to see Sabin playing his Seth, i think he would have owned Gief with him

Also, am i the only one starting to skip/fast forward the SA mirror matches? i used to watch them as long as they are pro-grade.. but enough is enough i guess..

Zangief should be arrested for being a serial killer!

Posted by rats on August 26, 2009 at 3:09 p.m. #61

I was hoping team Let's Go Justin would get at least into the semifinals :(

Personally, I think they should have been more aggressive. The more matches that went by, the more they hung back and basically let the Zangief player (Ahola) call the shots. That and not having a more diversified team probably killed them :/

Posted by QQr on August 26, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. #62

@rats: Has an American team ever gotten past the first round in any Japanese Street Fighter tournament ever?

@QQr: titles based on arcade BP.

Posted by cow on August 26, 2009 at 4:31 p.m. #65

so what if the americans were kicking ass before that? shiit happens. If they were good, they would easily be able to take the win again instead of getting owned by zangief. Giving the excuse that their morale was low after the initial disqualification is not acceptable..and ricky was able to pull off the first win against kuroken before they got owned. Ricky was still playing hes ass off. Credits to him.

Posted by shagy on August 26, 2009 at 4:38 p.m. #66

hmm yea rick was playing well even during the second round. Only floe and sabin had higher odds of taking aloha down because of their zoning but well floe seemed like he wasnt even trying or he hasnt played a good zangief before and same goes for sabin. When you taunt and you get owned by an ultra without scoring another hit on him, says something about you.

Yeah...cause after a combo that big that dizzied your opponent it would be very smart to use ultra after it, so that the damage gets scaled ridiculously....oh and using akuma's ultra would give your opponent 3 full ex bars...soooo yeah...stfu?

to all those saying that? gtfo of the country? leave?

I was there over the summer the summer chillin at big box with both jap and american players and we were all cool its surprising how much hate developes back home when we are all just having some fun playing sf.... i love SF i truly do... but damn....calm down. Who the hell would want to be in the scene with all you animals going ape sh*t over everything

just go hoop and holler about SFIV in public and I bet you 95% of people would be like WTF are you talking about who is Jwong who is Daigo (I also love him but the way)... damn... just move on with it

Posted by Ghouly on August 26, 2009 at 11:44 p.m. #77

Lol.
Team "Let's go --> Exit" faced the weakest JP team and got owned.
Not to mention Aloha is really far from being the best Z palyer around.
Anyway, at super battle opera just after this 5V5, all USA players got raped at 1st round. So stop complaining...

@J. Wank : lol, you lost because JP screens are laggy ? even hitler told smaller lies. So go and hang yourself, that's the only reasonable thing to do in your case.

Posted by some dude on August 26, 2009 at 11:48 p.m. #78

I thought pro players were supposed to become more flexible and creative with thier attacks but these Sagat players seem as if they had a week of practice and can only do one attack : TIGER SHOT! no matter whats going on in the fights.

Posted by Ash on August 27, 2009 at 2:51 a.m. #83

Lol Sagat can only do 3 different attacks even my pokemon get 4 different moves each.

Posted by Aloha on August 27, 2009 at 2:55 a.m. #84

Aloha taunted fLoE because taunt is a great way to buffer gief's move of course. Any noob should know that!

Posted by Shoop Loop on August 27, 2009 at 4:35 a.m. #85

I hate to admit it, but Sagat's fighting style is getting pretty boring to watch. When so many people play as him, and none of them play any differently...

Bleh.

Posted by geez on August 27, 2009 at 5:17 a.m. #86

yea it does look boring but the reason why their sagats dominate is their zoning and ability to whip out link combos like bread and butter. look at Iloveu joe and floe.. there sagats don't use many link combos as Japanese Sagats like Bonchan, MAgo, AmeriKen, RF.. and others. Japanese Sagats are extremely calculative. looks very boring but they are just moving you around accordingl to their strategy I've seen some recent match vids of sagats at big box its right here and the guy has more vids pretty nice

It's not all about creativity, the japanese don't play to entertain you.

Posted by loldotcom on August 27, 2009 at 8:35 a.m. #89

B-b-b-b-b-onchan is slowly rising up from behind Mago's shadow.

Posted by b on August 27, 2009 at 8:59 a.m. #90

Flexible and creative is for custom combos, which are not in SF4 as of now, maybe mixups too. Don't get predictable with those.

Effectively using your attacks are for winning matches.
Why would Sagat not use his most effective controlling space moves? He's not a mixup tricky, fake out character like Viper or rush down like Rufus who works inside/in their face.

Jump all over the place, try to dash around with slow Sagat and end up KOed for trying to make him flexible like Vega-Claw.

And too effective, damaging, etc, questions go to Capcom JP who have direct say in changing how the game is played.

For those talking about "monster gief" against team USA... jumping around spamming into ultra makes you monster? Goes to show, sometimes you just get beaten by randomness... if this was a best of 3 sets no one would have lost to that guy.

That dude misse is sick with his akuma.

Posted by IrPanda on August 27, 2009 at 1:56 p.m. #98

Not how u play its how u win, and that gief beat the entire usa side so i think Aloha deserves credit.

Posted by yes4me on August 27, 2009 at 2:16 p.m. #101

I find it kind of "strange" that Gachi Muchiri Revenger did not complain about Neko Punch (a team that keep changing its order) but did complain about "Let's Go Justin"...

I think it was pretty obvious what they did, and why they reset the game: It gives the Japanese team a second chance, know better their opponents and the tricks the USA like to use. It is also annoyed the American team to a point they will start to taunt, knowing full well they are no more concentrated into winning, but just pissed and irritated about this kind of "cheat".

That been said, the Japanese teams were really good. I love in particular the following moments:

Nova Army @ Versus vs. The Kansai
Nuki has an impressive ChunLi with an original flavor. He is doing stuff I don't see online.

VF High Motivation vs. The Kansai
Sutoraikun(Ken) vs Naiki(Rufus): WOW!! WHAT A COMEBACK!
Fuu(Ryu) vs RF(Sagat): What a nice focus to end the first round. Really good Ryu.
Uryo (Viper) vs Teramachi Zangief (Sagat): really good viper. This is very different from my version of Viper.

Aichi vs. VF High Motivation
Eita(AKuma) vs Koedo(Sagat): 10 hits combo Akuma around 19'. Maeda Taison (Balrog) plays a great boxer.

Either way America was the one that did shady stuff first and started it all by switching out people and characters. Getting complained rightly about these things is just a result of that and should have been expected. Man the US fighting game community has such a huge inferiority complex.

Rules were giving to everyone before tourny started. So Team Justin did not inform the other team. They broke a rule. They deserved the penalty. So what the other team caught it after a couple matches, it's still legit. This isn't U.S. professional sports where calls aren't legit once the next play get started.

#99 and #100 can probably only do zangief's ultra by jumping

i agree that zangief was scrubbier than i would expect for a tournament of this level and the US team lost in a bad way. They didn't represent what US is capable of. Floe shouldn't have gotten caught with that ultra and Arturo should have finished him off when he had the chance.

yea and we just embarassed ourselves again to the Japanese.... if thats what are best are capable of compared to the Japanese we should just keep to ourselves her ein our own SFIV seen and get all excited about our 2nd class skills. Everytime we get hyped here we see our guys get beaten by the JApanese and it makes me feel like all our match vids here look like crap compared to what they are capable of over in Japan...

@ #106 : WTF ?
Z's ultra only by jumping ?

eeek...
Z's ultra can be done X ways...
After a dash (back or front)
After a fake move like standing Light kick or standing High Kick (just try it & you'll see !)
After a focus attack
After a green Hand
After a coffee

++

The reason they all go rufus, probably because Justin said rufus has Zangief's number as he said in his podcast with gootecks. Using c.Fierce to make gief jump into Ex Snake Strike. Works against most players, but we're talking top lvl giefs here.

LOL @ sabin's taunt - was so asking to be owned

Beating Edma's (?) clueless Gief pick at EVO gave Wong some incorrect beliefs about the matchup.

Thing is GSP and Anderson Silva respect their opponents and dont go celebrating in between rounds, or get in other players' faces shouting stuff at them inbetween rounds. Also if and when they lose they dont go emo like you clearly do.

Do not ever call a zangief who took out the top players in America a scrub. Dumb ass

Wow that makes usa look really bad seeing how were having people like justin crap repin usa. Personally i think that Marn is WAY better than wong he was the only one who almost won a match, and came close to beating diago. There are so many people in the us that we dont even know about that would mop the floor with justin....He can stay calling himself the best he hasnt shown anything but constantly losing to diago, he play's at empire alone and claims hes untouchable but as u can see hes trash give respect where its due....

Zangief.
Lame.
Nerf.

Posted by Tirasoul on October 1, 2009 at 11:41 a.m. #120

the fact that some people here blame Zangief for nerf etc.
they should know that Gief has very bad match ups in this game.
example Sagat and Ryu are the worst match ups.
but for Rufus, Zangief is a total disaster.
Rufus can't pressure him with dive kick like the other characters so he must fight him in a different way.
so dont blay Japaneese player who plays Gief and won against all these Rufus.he is a bad match up already and you should know that (for Rufus).
he won fair and sqaure.Period.
in other words nerf must be in all the characters that they use to be top.(Sagat,Zangief,Ryu,Rufus,Boxer,Dictator,Viper,Akuma)
they all have moves very abused,Ultra's from everywhere and damage.
so nerf to them and buff to characters who needs it most.
like Ken,Guile,Claw,El Fuerte,Abel etc.
and dont forget the characters which are not appear in Arcade scene.
im talking about console characters which they are really weak against the top characters.
i hope Capcom to correct these imbalanced issues in the new SF.and ofcourse give special attention to the new comers.
