GameStop reportedly taking pre-orders for MvC2 TE Stick
Remember that Mad Catz Tournament Edition Marvel vs. Capcom 2 joystick that briefly showed up on GameStop's website back when MvC2 hit the PlayStation Network, earlier in the month?
As it turns out, several people have reported that they've been able to pre-order it from their local GameStop stores. A forum moderator named TwiGGy and Capcom's Seth Killian very briefly commented on the subject via the Unity Boards.
I called my local GameStop and they're taking pre-orders for a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Tournament Edition stick. I've heard other people are able to pre-order it too, what gives Capcom?
TwiGGy: If GameStop is taking pre-orders, then pre-order it.
Capcom hasn't announced these sticks and I doubt they will confirm or deny them at this point.
Best bet would be to stay tuned to the Unity blog.
Seth: Yeah, what TwiGGy said.
So while this is far from conclusive, it's leading many people to believe we'll be seeing an MvC2 themed joystick in the near future, although with the game out already on both systems, one can't help but wonder how long Mad Catz would wait to announce/release these new products — if they actually exist.
Update: Snake918 spoke with his local Gamestop in Colorado and they said the stick would be out on September 24.

I would be a little cautious about the Tekken 6 wireless Hori sticks because I haven't seen any information on what parts are used for it (joystick & buttons).
The HRAP3 is $100 on Amazon and comes with a Sanwa JLF joystick and Hori buttons. At $90 ($150 package - $60 game) I'm guessing it's going to have Hori buttons and possibly a Hori joystick too because it's wireless. Then you run into whether or not there will be input lag and if there is, how much? For a wireless device you're almost certain to have input lag, but unless you're aiming to go pro then it shouldn't matter too much.
Going back to this post...
If this really is a "Tournament Edition" stick then is it safe to assume it's a MadCatz/Capcom/Marvel collaboration? If so I wouldn't be surprised if they kept the base model the same and just change the art and swapped the ball top and buttons for different colors. I already own the SF4 TE Fightstick so while I may not be looking to buy, I'm still interested in seeing what they put out.

I want HRAP EX PRO SA and SE editions so bad.
But, I'm happy with the TE stick, easy to mod the artwork and parts.

If it's a Happ, I'll get another TE stick.
Not into MvC2 at all though.
Posted by sss on August 25, 2009 at 4:29 p.m. #11
That ain't a HAPP stick.

L.O.L.
"Waaah, Happ or nothing!"
Goddamnit kids, the Japanese can play Marvel just fine on JLFs, and Happ can't build a quality product.
Plus Happ are HUGE.
It'll be a TE with different colours.
You don't like it, stick an extra spring in there.

I was able to preorder it from my local gamestop. They said it will be release on september 27th
Posted by Trigunfun on August 25, 2009 at 8:25 p.m. #14
And it is $160 rather than the $150 the sf4 te stick cost.

..... funny that a MVC2 stick should be American style

lol... neat.

If you guys really like HAPP that much, just swap out the damn buttons and stick, and use the rows of buttons to the right. It's stupid easy to do on the Mad Catz sticks.
Posted by zenken on August 26, 2009 at 1:01 p.m. #18
@Diyomaro: It's not that easy, buddy. HAPP/iL buttons aren't 30mm, nor do they use QDs. And HAPP/iL sticks don't fit.
As others have said, it should be a HAPP stick.

quit ripping us off. releasing another stick!? for a fuccking old asss game with terrible online no less.
they aren't quite happy with just about everyone blowing their money on SE and TE IV sticks, eh? Just have to try and sucker us again to buy another fuccking stick that's over $140.
scumbags. release one universal stick that is gonna be the standard for your fighting games, and design it with mod friendly aspects. that way you can focus on cleaning up your fuccking games, and making good sequels.

Very easy to find information on your own online to make your own custom sticks to work with two consoles or more, many fighting games and non fighters too. Swapping parts easy.
MadCatz/Capcom US ripping you off with the sticks. Not Capcom JP developers of the games. They don't spend time making the sticks instead of making the games.
You are soo angry to complain when there are cheap & easy alternatives out there.

@Diyomaro: zenken is right. Happ parts simply won't fit in a TE fightstick. Not only are they made to fit ~28.5mm slots, but the buttons are much longer than Sanwa/Semitsu meaning they require taller housing. At $160 it's possible they designed a taller box to house Happ parts, but I will say Happ buttons are cheaper than Sanwa's so guessing where the extra $10 comes in is a little tricky.
@capcom are scumbags: Here's a rhetorical question for you: What's the purpose of a business? Whatever the commodity, as long as there is demand there will be sales keeping in mind you handle pricing correctly. To your comment about releasing a "universal stick" I return to my initial question. If the SE/TE fighsticks aren't "mod friendly" enough for you then I suggest you come out with a new design.

"Yeah, what TwiGGy said."
Seth is such a fag, he thinks he's so cool when he's just a gay spokesperson that denies netcode issues on SFIV and new DLC characters like SF3: 3rd Strike characters and DeeJay.
