MvC2 out today on PS3, possible joystick in the works?
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will launch today on the PlayStation 3, current speculation has the game showing up around 1 to 3 p.m. PST (4 to 6 p.m. EST). If you want to see the moves and additional information, make sure you check out our strategy guide.
The retail pack announcement was officially made today, but many of the other features that were mentioned in the previous listing didn't make the cut. The only extra here is a code that gives you a one-month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited. The retail package will also be a somewhat limited edition run, with only 15,000 boxes being available.
Update: Snake918 bought a copy today and confirmed there's nothing else in the package besides what's listed above, it's basically for collectors to get the limited edition box.
But, it's the same price as the digital download, so it's nice to get a free extra for buying the game at a retail outlet.
Also, SFilp pointed out that a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 joystick listing showed up on GameStop's website. The listing was subsequently pulled, but it was for a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 themed Tournament Edition FightStick from Mad Catz.
GameStop listing something prematurely and then pulling the page off their website seems to be their standard operating procedure as of late, even if some of the details tend to be a bit off when the item comes out.
Since the last MvC2 controller leak was a hoax though, there's good reason to be skeptical about things this time, but Capcom's Christian Svensson did say at the time that...
Seth is right [about the sticks being faked]. But I don't want to rule out the possibility of something special in this realm if there are enough people who want to see something like this come to fruition.
If anything ends up coming of this, we'll have the story here.

Anyone know if the retail version will be out on Thursday?
Posted by Catalyst on August 13, 2009 at 1:14 a.m. #6
Retail version is out today as well, may even be out a little sooner than the digital download.
Posted by Venom 2.0 on August 13, 2009 at 1:24 a.m. #7
Catalyst: you do know the retail version comes with a redemption card right? so even if you get it sooner then the psn update You still have to wait for it to be added to the store before you can use the card...so either way nobody gets it sooner

@Venom 2.0
Actually I'm sorry but I believe you are wrong, anything that is put out to download on both the PSN and XBL are already preloaded roughly 2 weeks before hand. They do this to make sure when the downloading starts it's not going to crash their systems. So they give their employees and a few other friends/family codes to download games/content early, just to make sure they work.
The fact that MvC2 came out on XBL already also shows that's it's probably already been uploaded onto the PSN and is ready to download.
So the redemption code should work even before hand. Now that being said the way that Gamestop usually gets their shipments, they'll have the game set to come out (for example sakes lets use October 1, 2009) So a game is set to come 10-1-09, that's the street date, but most of the game won't be shipped until that date, so the gamestop won't receive their copies/units until the next day. 10-2-09.
A few ocasions like big name games, Halo/Gears of War/Resistance/Killzone they'll actually have the game in the stores a few weeks before hand, but cannot legally sell them before the official street date.

I talked to the a guy at Gamestop and he told me they received an email that they will be receiving the retail pack with extra content for $19.99. A week later the price was cut to $14.99 with nothing. This article just said there's a 1-month free subscription of Marvel Digital Comics. Make up your f**king mind Capcom!
@Catalyst the guy at Gamestop told me they getting the retail version on Friday.

I'm pretty sure it wont come out on the time this says it will. Capcom and psn have been pissing me off this whole year, so I already know this is bs( I am venting). Hopefully it will atleast come out today but I highly doubt it is coming out on any of the times it says.
