Capcom employees Christian Svensson and Seth Killian chatted on the Unity Boards about who the current Marvel license holders are, if the character roster has to be even in Vs. games, and even got in a little Rival Schools blurb. With Activision holding the Marvel license, I just wanted to know if Marvel vs Capcom 3 would be possible before 2017, which is when their license expires? — Glutenbob
Sven: No news to share on that front but just to clear things up a little several companies beyond Activision hold Marvel licenses... Sega holds the Ironman and Hulk licenses (and perhaps more). THQ holds the Marvel Super Hero Squad license, I believe Gazillion holds the Marvel massive mulitplayer online license, etc.
It would be shocking, even scandalous if the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom rosters weren't even with an equal number of characters from both sides.
Sven: I'm just asking a question. Why is it assumed that the roster in any VS. game has to have the exact same number of characters on each side.
Teams when played are even. I'm not sure that one side couldn't have one or two more than the other side and it would change anything in any meaningful way. I'm not saying that's what's happening here, just questioning where the assumption comes from.
The dating simulation game in Rival Schools was removed from the PlayStation version, but it's in the imported Dreamcast version, why wasn't it ported over?
Seth: That was before either Sven or I worked here, so I can't be sure. As a blind guess, however, it could have been large localization costs vs perceived value add (re: it cost way too much).
Game localization can be a lot more expensive than most people think about, especially when you're doing it for multiple territories.

Don't really care too much about the dating simulation, but the create-a-character feature would've been nice.

going from memory, the vs series rosters werent always even so whats the big deal?
xvsf was +1 for capcom in the psx version if you count SFA chun li.
mvsf was even, having 9 capcom and 8 marvel at start but having the hidden characters 4 marvel and 3 capcom balanced that out, plus one boss for each side.
then mvc1 unbalanced again, while playable characters were even including hidden characters and onslaught, but there are 2 more marvel assists than capcom.
mvc2 is uneven because abyss is technically a capcom character.
so who cares if the tvc roster isnt even?

It doesn't matter if they are even or not in terms of numbers.
I just hope that the nerfs to Gold Lightan aren't true. It's hard as hell to win with him already.

the f**k they're talking about a dating sim for? Can they just spill the beans and say,"Any news on either a port of Project Justice or Rival Schools 3?". So simple.

Hlm: They're talking about a dating sim because the character creation mode for the first Rival Schools was a datesim in how it played.
And while they didn't answer if there was RS3 or not because apparently Seth never got such a question. That was the only Rival Schools question he answered apparently.

Oh, I know that dude, I'm just very anxious to hear ANY, I mean ANY news about Rival Schools 3

With Capcoms fighting game focus mostly on the reinvigorated SF series (and TvC:UAS, Fate/Unlimited Codes ), i dont think we'll hear anything about sequels for Rival Schools, Darkstalkers, Plasma Sword, Power Stone, Red Earth, Cyberbots, Final Fight or Shadows of Rome anytime soon..

Sounds like the teams are going to be unbalanced. There should be even teams just because we want more players if you are subtracting...

I've never heard of the Project Justice dating sim game. Weird.
