The World Cyber Games fighting game tournament opens up today in New York at the Samsung Experience in the Time Warner Center (Google Map).

The event is free and even if you didn't register ahead of time there might be some walk-up spots still available. The games being played are Street Fighter IV, Dead or Alive 4, Soul Calibur IV and Virtua Fighter 5. Winners will receive cash prizes and Samsung Digital Cameras. The tournament is set to end Sunday.

Also the Street Fighter art exhibit JAB STRONG FIERCE opens up today in Alhambra, California, which is fairly close to Los Angeles. This exhibit runs through May 11, 2009.

Opening day activities include a Street Fighter IV tournament sponsored by EVO with cash prizes, a cosplay competition, free refreshments and music by Ronikus.
