Capcom covers Tatsunoko vs. Capcom's licensing and Street Fighter 4 Battle Points

As far as I know, not one company in the U.S. has rights to publish Tatsunoko properties strictly for game use. So, what's the problem? — Shed a Ninja

Sven: The problems are multifaceted but the first facet is that your statement is your assumption is not correct. Rights for exploitation of the properties are held by multiple companies across the West, across a number of media, of which games is one included within those grant of rights.

There are other issues as well that I can't get in to but as I have repeatedly said, we are working on things on that front. I and others here definitely want this to happen.

If Capcom brings TvC to the West is there a chance will see it on other systems besides the Wii?

Sven: Not impossible but unlikely. In the near term though, I'm most focused on trying to get the Wii released rather than undertaking new development.

Obviously this isn't perfect (the most skilled player in the world would still have 0 BP on his first match), but the more people use it, the better it becomes over time. In general, I feel it's very helpful and broadly accurate. Certainly people with a lot more BP tend to be a lot better than the lower BP people.

SFIV also goes deeper than that though -- even if you have an opponent who may not have a huge amount of BP, if you see he's unlocked a title that requires completing Gen's "Hard Mode" Trials, you know you're dealing with a good player.

Anyway, I guess the issue is whether you can think of a better system than that? If you've got a better idea, please let us know and we'll take it into consideration. [...]
