Given how there is a Thor movie in the works and Marvel would want to advertise it as much as they can i consider him to be certainty. In fact i consider all characters that will feature in Marvel comics movies and the up-coming Avengers ensemble to be in it :-)

I'm just hoping to find out who the dude in the cape is in the MARVEL logo silhouette is during EVO or Comic Con, is it Dr. Doom, Moon Knight, or Taskmaster?
I'm content with the characters thus far but as they've been quite strongly hinting, I'd LOVE to see tho in the game. Also, I personally believe, at least from the Spider-Man franchise that they should have him (with his alternate costumes being from his differet comic appearances or something or in a DLC pack with others)and a villain. Now, villains namely to me cost popular would be Green/Hob Goblin, Venom/Carnage, Dr. Octopus and Rhino (cuz he's another "large" character like Juggernaut). IMO I would DEF like it to come down between Green Goblin mostly but we shall see. All i know is that there will be some VERY nice surprises in store for us all! =]

I'm hoping that they'll be less Street Fighter & X-Men characters this time around, especially when characters from the Avengers have now gained a lot more popularity & that it'll have about 32-36 characters at the max. There should be no more than either 3 or 4 characters from each of those franchises.
Also, cut down on the obscure & all of the clone &/or palette swap characters, such as Ken, Akuma, Sakura, Dan, 2nd Wolverine, X-23, Marrow, Amingo, Sabretooth, War Machine, Charlie/Guile, etc.
PLEASE capcom PLEASE just put ken masters I'm getting sick n tired of using ryu all day just for the sheer fact of trying to picture ken ryu is not fast enough for the combos i got in my head

They want a diverse roster with characters that stand out as individuals so that the gameplay is fun and that characters that deserve a slot in the game because of their unique powers, skills, abilities, get their time to shine, so NO shotos/palette swap characters for MvC3.
They have limited character slots, over 30, and let's say Sakura, Ken, Dan, and Akuma are in the game, that's four clones that are taking up space from four more deserving characters like Jedah Juri, Mike Haggar, X, or any other character that would add something new and unique to the roster.
i really dont care about the other shotos actually they can go to hell the other shotos only has 3 three things in common hadoken shoryuken and the hurricane kick other than that they cant all do the same combos or same attributes but whateverr their gonna be dlc anyways

I just hope they go ahead and confirm if Spider Man and Captain Commando is in the game so me and 1000000 others would be happy lol. It would be weird with no Captain Commando because he is capcom's actual super hero type- even more than Ryu who's a fighter not a super hero type. And if they see the three characters he call out to help is an issue, they could simply just remove them because he's already has cool moves of his own and give him a different super.
I hope they completely shake it up. I don't wanna see MVC2 redux, I wanna see a brand new cast with as few returning as possible. Deadpool and Dante are looking very nice.

Where is it confirmed that Ken is in? Who is barbie. All I want to say is, that I hope at least one of these three characters are in between Seth, Gill, and Urien been looking forward for Capcom to put one of them in. Imagine a beefed up Regis Reflector reflecting Iron Man's Proton Cannon beam right back at him lol. Or Gill using his powerful Ice/fire ball and his powerful moves or Seth using his interesting moves as well. Plus none of those characters have been in a real crossover yet.

Every major Marvel character that has a movie coming out is in the game Iron fist, Thor, Gambit will be in the game because of Marvel popularity hopefully Capcom may put Characters for every game like sf1 Ryu Sf2 Chun li sf3 Alex I dont see many more street fighter characters in this game maybe as fillers later but now we need Gene from God hand
Imagine having alternate costumes for the characters. ie: Captain America (WWII Cap, Ultimates Cap, Bucky Barnes Cap, USAgent), Spider-man (Symbiote, Noir, 2099), Iron Man with his different armors, Ryu and the Street Fighters( their SFIV costume sets? ) Chris Redfield: (STARS and his other costumes from RE5) and etc! I really hope that they add Storm to the list, she was a very popular character in the game, and I would like to see how she will do now that you wont be able to run away and build energy up. Also there is debate on weather she is or isnt in because of what Seth Killian said. He didn't confirm her hungry fans are reading to deep into his statement. I really think she will be in the because they hit 2 birds with one stone by adding her. The obviouse first is she would be the tolkn black, and second many gay people loooove and live for fighting games like no other demographic and many gays looove Storm. Therefore it would only make sense that she would be in. Personally I liked wolverine the most, but I did play storm occasionally.....

I think Marvel needs to add Blade!!! He would be a sword based character and use his other weapons as well. They should go ahead and announce Cyclops and Captain Commando if they are in the game for the next announcement. The game would be awkward without those two iconic heroes. After that I have my team. Other cool characters are Seth,Bionic Commando, Urien, Bishop, Gill, and Storm would be cool to add in the game. Bionic Commando would sort of be a good replacement for Omega Red.

I do agree that Sandman and Doc Ock would be fun characters, although it may be hard to not make Sandman a total beast since he would like dodge every attack. I think that even though he's dead now, the Sentry might be cool, theres not really anyone else on here like him (besides maybe Thor). Antman (Hank Pym) could be a cool change also

He doesn't have to be some giant character like he was, but his basic usual size or he could be as tall as Sentinel. He's been in 2 games but never playable in his usual size. has anyone ever thought about Apocalypse as a playable character. The MSH v S doesn't count as him being playable. That would definitely please X-men Fans!!! Storm, Song Bird, Cyclops, Wolverine, Magneto, and Apocalypse would be the perfect cast of X-men!!! If I had a vote between Phoenix Wright and Apocalypse it would easily be Apocalypse. Plus Apocalypse would be a perfect replacement for Sentinel.

fei long could have a hyper combo ending in the stomp that bruce lee uses on o'hara in enter the dragon. Night crawler should move very quickly, use his tail, weild a rapier, double jump and have alot of teleport moves (other characters who teleport, teleport, he should have super moves based on it. Ms. Marvel would hit kind of hard, she can fly, blast energy, and can use it to replicate the soul sattelite move from rose in ssf4.
i want: nightcrawler,mega man x,twelve,venom and jotaro.

Capcom, I've just got one question: WHY ARE YOU IGNORING THE POWER STONE FRANCHISE AGAIN?! MVC3 would've been the perfect game to include one of your most popular franchises in the mix! Falcon would've been an obvious choice as he is the main character of the series. Just ONE character would've made your die-hard fans happy. But no, you slap us in the face yet again. You gave the Okami fans something to jump for joy over, so why not the Power Stone fans?! Falcon is FROM a FIGHTING game, his moveset wouldn't have been THAT hard to create! Certainly would've been easier than most of the other characters. You've got a loyal fan base behind that franchise, and you continue to ignore them. Frustrating...Just frustrating...
On a brighter note, I'm happy to see that the mighty Thor made the cut! In his best appearance, might I add. As a fan of the Norse God of Thunder, I'm looking forward to bashing people's heads in with Mjolnir!

that was my personal opinion...I've had my a$$ handed to me by a marrow on some occasions...but I never really understood how she made the cut to be in the game... And yes Rouge should be in...And her and Ms Marvel could have some sick matches...If they did have Rouge in...I would hope they brough back her power drain special moves from XMvsSF...
@#91: it would be cool if when rouge drained her opponents power she gained one of they're signature moves, at the cost of losing one of her own. Ex: kissing Ryu would allow her to use hadokens, but she would lose her dash punches OR allow her to use a shoryuken, but lose her diving fist....... although to do that for every other character may be to "intricate" to ask of from the MvC3 developers.
i just noticed that nobody's mentioned any Red Earth characters, whats up with that??

I so hope they put Tron Bonne and B.B. Hood in the game! B.B. Hood's only character morph move was her Hyper Apple for You, but in MvC2, Hyper Apple for You's animation was changed to look like her Ex pursuit attack!

My predictions for the next announcements in the TGS:
Capcom i) Frank West ii) C.Viper
MARVEL i) Spider-man (regular costume, maybe with the symbiote to unblock in the game. It would be great). ii) Storm or Ms. Marvel: It's obvious that Marvel needs to show a female character. Currently, the 9 characters we know are males. I don't think She-hulk will be in the game, my bet is for these two and a third one, but not mutant or X-girl, maybe Elektra or Black Widow (don't forget that she's on fashion now thanks to the Iron Man movies with the Scarlet Johansson role, and she is going to appear in the next Avengers movie, Marvel needs to launch the character).

On a slightly serious note, I have an objection to Phoenix Wright being in the game. He's a lawyer: they don't win any fights unless they're arguing the innocence of a murderous ex-football star (lol Johnny Cochran could be an alt costume for Wright though).

Hit-Girl won't make it for the same reason that The Punisher won't. Too hardcore. I mean yeah, Deadpool has had more limbs cut off/cut off more limbs than many Marvel characters, but his character isn't really BASED in that like Hit-Girl and Punisher.
I wish Iron Fist would make it in. And Moon Knight. I mean Capcom wants obscure, right? Those are great characters who are obscure. But based on how things have been going, they seem to be thinking more like: "Who do they want in? Daredevil? Tell them no ...and give them MODOK! Ask US for a cool popular character who people will recognize, will they? We'll show THEM! Next up, Howard the Duck!!"
And then they just fill out the rest of the cast with more of the same from the last game. Storm, Magneto, Sentinel, yeah that sounds fun. Can't wait to see even MORE of that mirror match.
But for me, two characters would be all it takes to make up for this.

Some people like Moon Knight. Like me. But the point I was trying to make was that he's obscure, which Capcom wants, AND he's an actual fist-fighting character. Which of course works against him since Capcom has been putting out characters like (again) MODOK. He's a giant freaking face in a can with tiny arms and legs that he barely uses! What part of that translates to "fighting game character" to you?
With Shuma-Gorath its a bit more understandable since
1. He's got usable limbs. 2. He's an awesome Doc Strange villain with cosmic powers.
It doesn't make THAT much more sense, but enough to be an understandable addition to the roster.
Seriously though, Iron Fist. Martial Artist Super Hero who is quite obscure to casual comic readers, let alone Capcom fans? How is he not PERFECT?
ok i understand Shuma and Iron Fist, i just have a personal bias against Moon Knight so sorry about that lol and its sucks that there won't be Gambit or Dr. Strange or Ghost Rider...if Capcom wants obscure, Venom (he was no where near the same as Spider-Man), Green Goblin or Hobgoblin (low-flying hoverboard and bombs with different properties), and Luke Cage (multiple fist and chain combos and a few command grabs). that's all.

None of those characters you listed are "Obscure" (except Hobgoblin). Venom is an extremely well known and highly popular character. Plus along with Green Goblin he has stared in one of the most successful super-hero movie franchises. Luke Cage is a huge player in the marvel world who 97% of marvel comic readers would know.
Obscure characters are characters even big time comic fans might not know much about, like Dormammu.

We get FAR less nostalgia this way, seeing as so many casual comic readers and even hardcore comic readers won't really get WHY characters like Dormammu would be in the game rather than a more recognizable character.

In this moment, in best of cases (40 characters, which I seriously doubt) we have only 5 Marvel characters left.
In my opinion, the best roster would include:
- Black Panther (classic Avenger and marvel hero, nº 1 black superhero, Wakanda, he's on fashion on Avergers animated and the new man withot fear. Do you want more?)
- Moon Knight (one of the favourites "non-top" superheros, impressive look, amazing weapons and complex character)
- Storm (seems she's a must have, top's MVC2 character, leader of X-men, marvel female -currently we have only two)
- Green Goblin ( classic supervillain and now the most important in the Marvel universe. Sensational look and weapons, great moveset with his glider, pumpkins and bats. Spidey deserves one of his most powerful foes in the game.)
-The number 5 could be Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye or Iceman.
-To be honest, I don't understand the election of Shuma-Gorath for DLC. Maybe nexts DLC in the future will be the most wanted characters by fans and deconfirmed : Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Cyclops, Gambit, Dr. Strange (two main enemies in game), Psylocke...

According to many links and information that I've read, it seems that 3 of the last 4 characters for the Marvel side are quite clear : Storm, Ms. Marvel and Taskmaster. There is a lot of different opinions about the fourth one. I wish the Green Goblin was the final big surprise !

You have to realize, though, that you're part of a small minority on this. Personally, my favorite setup was MVC2. I also liked TVC and yeah, back in the day, just like everyone else, I played (and liked) the old 6 attack setup. But to me MVC2 captured a balance between simplicity and advanced control, allowing not only quicker decision making and easier controls for newbies, but a still useful setup for advanced players. Just look at how much tournament play MVC2 gets.
Either way, if MVC3 really does have alternate control options, I'm psyched! I'd love to be able to choose!

Yeah, I used to have a great time playing X-Men Vs. Street Fighter in the old arcades. In fact, that's still one of my favorite arcade games. But things change, and not everybody is gonna be happy. I sincerely hope that Capcom makes all the old control styles available, but if not, then that's just how it is.
Sometimes you can't change it. Sometimes you can. But right now, with MVC3 being so close around the corner, I just don't see them changing much. It's nearly a completed game, and it all comes down to what they've already decided. Making a plea right now wouldn't change much. I already had to accept that with Strider. But at least take solace in the idea that since we don't know anything about what the final release is gonna be like, there's always hope.
It's not over until it's over. Until then, just hope that they made the right choices. Afterward, there's always DLC and updates.

I'd prefer the MvC2 controls over the simplified and the 6-button. However, I'll be fine with any configure they decide to input; let's just pray for variety.

That seems to be the case, but I still think Cat should list the other revealed characters here, just without making them link to a move list/strategy page until more is known.
Maybe even put an asterisk next to ones without guides explaining the situation. Then at least there would be an easy to find page on Eventhubs of all the characters revealed, and he could update it as it goes along.

ooo, we're talking bout teams now are we? I personally cannot make up my mind. There are just so many characters i want to use. Morrigan is a must for me since i've always liked her play style since...well darkstalkers of course :P Definitely gonna have to try out Wesker. Using his teleportation for mind games sounds fun. I just cant pick a 3rd member though...so many choices. Felicia for her low hitting assist? Viper for her overhead assist? Possibly Joe for being strange? I just dont know...

M. Bison would be pretty awesome, especially in this exaggerated visual style. Plus, his Hyper Psycho Crusher would look amazing. I hope he's in, but that Akuma picture just looks so damn real. I hope he's in too, so I can see the new Gou Rasen (my favorite super in SF3).
But overall, there is ALWAYS hope as long as DLC is an option. If Capcom really wants to go the whole ten in pleasing their fans, they'll hold polls for DLC characters.
Either way, though, this game is gonna take you for a ride.

I think that the controls are customizable.
So you might be able to set it to MVC2 style with four attack buttons.
But yeah that's basically how it works, I think. In MVC2 you had 4 attack buttons but could (with some characters) perform six hit chain combos.
Like with Strider you could hit lp lk lp lk hp hk and get a full six hit chain.
So yeah, that sounds about right.

@221: No chance in hell would they have most of the remaining characters from MvC2 as DLC in this game. That will take a lot of time & energy into doing so (in which it'll take like, many, many months to do). Besides, this is MvC3, not MvC 2.5. It's not supposed to be mugen like MvC2. It's time for new characters to shine.
And characters like Cammy & Sakura, don't count on that happening.
Main Team: Wesker, MODOK, Dante Sub Teams: Chris, Dormammu, Super Skrull Deadpool, Sentinel, Zero
Although to be fair i havent played it so its subject to change, but im going to give them all a try, i cant wait for this game :) but unfortunately i cant get it till the 18th :(

Alright, one last listing of my teams
1st: Wolverine, Arthur, Dormammu
2nd: Captain America, Spider-Man, Viewtiful Joe
3rd: Dr. Doom, Akuma, Dante (shut up we've all waited for him)
Randomly mix in a little Thor, a little Hulk, some Hsien Ko, and a pinch of Haggar, and you've about got the gist of my teams. I would throw Shuma in, but I'm sticking to non DLC.
My point is gonna be Akuma, with Chun-Li/Super Skrull assist abuse, Spencer is gonna be my last resort.

1st : Sentinel, Tron Bonne, Gouki (Or Akuma, I like Gouki better :3)

Sounds like good teams Lavama, but you need to have Deadpool in every team :D
And the name "Deadpool" is from when he was part of the Weapon X Program but since his healing powers are so unstable he is considered a failure and is sent to a place with other failed superhumans where the patients have a "deadpool" where they bet on how long the others would survive.
my team is going to be Dormammu Hsien-ko and Arthur. btw for the two remaining marvel spots i would like to see DR.strange and the punisher. for the last Capcom spot i would like to see ether Bayonetta or jack or frank west/ chuck green. screw mega man he is in every Capcom versus and be sides they all read have Ryu so they have a poster boy all ready no need for mega man

Sorry Eventhubs/Catalyst - always loved your site. However SRK put the final nail in the coffin - for me at least. They have a much bigger, better, more in depth guide up now for all their games, including MvC. This includes video's and expert analyse.
They don't just cover Capcom but other big series like KoF, Tekken, MK, BB. They took a page put of your book and added submit a tip, which may not be new but it's more prompt now.

You know what it is about MvC3? It's this years Metroid Other M. Remember when that game came out, how some people thought it was Ok, but other just flat out HATED it? It's the same with this game, but with Other M, people hated that because of the characterization of Samus. People hated MvC3 because of the gameplay, they think it's broken, cheap, and sometime just stupid. And to those people I say SHUT UP!!! MvC3 is awesome, it's fast paced, over the top, and just plan fun. Sure there are a few things I would've done to it (personally I would rather have liked to of seen Cable in the game instead of Sentinel) but it just great at the end of the day. Sure Mortal Kombat might have more bells on it, but the most important part of any game is the game play, and after playing the demo, MvC3 is more fun to play then MK9 (IMO of course).
^ How the f^ck would you know if the game isn't even out yet stupid. MvC3 is lack of content and was pushing you over and over and over to get the game. the developers of MK9 are patient and have way more content and has more fun that a sh!tty 4 button lay out. So wait until you get MK9 and get rid of that sh!tty marvel VS Sh!tcom 3.
^Well dude, umm, tell that to everyone else who said "Mortal Kommbat 9 is the best game ever!" in the comments above me. Beside, I said the game is more fun to play, didn't say MK9 was going to suck. I've played the MK9 demo a bunch and I find it to sluggish and I'm not really into the MK lour as much as I am with Capcom and Marvel. Plus, does Test your Luck and Konquest really had anything to the game play of MK9? There is a difference between I think it's total garbage and I like MvC3 better. Like I said, IMO (In My Opinion). well imm sorry for not being a NEW COMER TO THIS FRANCHISE!! like who wouldn't want there money back. Anyways, i think amingo would be a great DLC character. He really doesnt need much part in the story because he can just be a follower in the story and game. Who wouldnt want to play as some big green cactus lol. also doctor octopus for marvle would be fun. Those are 2 high detailed characters that would be fun to play as

MvC3 totally escaped the context of the worst games released recently, do not resemble the previous ones, is an easy game, anyone who ever heard of a cross, a ride any time and is capable of beating anyone with years of experience, is far from being a game for the hardcore, MK9 without a doubt the best release (IMO), without taking the fact that watching a game at a high level of MvC3 is at least tedious, would not be for less, right? which already gives the impression that all do the same things, too repetitive ... has the complexity of Mvc2

What I commented on was all the bashing of this game when people do not even understand the game mechanics. Then they wonder why they get caught up so easy. I like this game. Just wish the community would stop crying and start playing. As for the street fighter III comment. That was more or less for people to suck it up and learn a good counter game. SFIII just happens to have the hardest counter attack game out of all the fighters I have ever played.

Phoenix Wright is from the Capcom series Phoenix Wright on the NDS. You play a defence attorney where you look for clues at crime scenes and present your findings in court. It's quite fun! I've only played the first though.
Virgil is Dantes twin and is therefore a part of the Devil May Cry series. He appears as Nelo Angelo in the first Devil May Cry game and it would be very cool to have him turn into Nelo Angelo but I somehow doubt it.
i never got mvc3 i thot it looked kinda dumb at first idk y, but after seeing some matches i guess im interested now so i guess im pre ordering umvc3 :3

okay crazy but stick with me here what if we do see a little of megaman in umvc3. we all know frank west is set to be in the game. well in dead rising "frank west game" if you complete the right achivements you can full complete an imitation megaman outfit with megablaster but you cant charge it so not fully megaman. but what if the developers have decided to put some sort of megaman cameo like " you wanted him so bad heres a little bit of him. frank could probably have a hyper same as chris where he uses various guns. well frank uses anything he could get his hands on but what if they finish the hyper with a big megaman blast to the face. i know its a long shot but heres hoping for all the fans that wanna see any of megaman in umvc3. longshot but it would be a cool compramise you could say and a badass hyper.

Gambit has no right 2B in this game, Gambit has no rite 2B in marvel anymore period. He's only seen when Cyclops calls on him 2make an appearance or when X-23 is ordering him around. And half of U that wanted Venom can't even tell me Venom's name or how he'd B any different than Spidy or Deadpool in this game.

Idk why people complain about Ken being a Shoto when Vergil plays similar to Dante, a lot of people have projectiles, everyone Punches each other. So what if people have the same thing to any extent. Ken would have different Hypers and properties. I can easily see the three of them taking down the rest of the cast. Esp with Ryu's new found power... Let us pray that Capcom atleast tries to treat UMVC3 like a modern fighting game. Let us pray that they offer new stages and characters as DLC. Let us pray that they offer these DLC in two ways, individually and packaged. Let us pray that they create new modes for both online play as well as local single/multiplayer. I'm content with the characters thus far but as they've been quite strongly hinting, I'd LOVE to see tho in the game. Also, I personally believe, at least from the Spider-Man franchise that they should have him (with his alternate costumes being from his differet comic appearances or something or in a DLC pack with others)and a villain. Now, villains namely to me cost popular would be Green/Hob Goblin, Venom/Carnage, Dr. Octopus and Rhino (cuz he's another "large" character like Juggernaut). IMO I would DEF like it to come down between Green Goblin mostly but we shall see. All i know is that there will be some VERY nice surprises in store for us all! =]

I'm hoping that they'll be less Street Fighter & X-Men characters this time around, especially when characters from the Avengers have now gained a lot more popularity & that it'll have about 32-36 characters at the max. There should be no more than either 3 or 4 characters from each of those franchises.
Also, cut down on the obscure & all of the clone &/or palette swap characters, such as Ken, Akuma, Sakura, Dan, 2nd Wolverine, X-23, Marrow, Amingo, Sabretooth, War Machine, Charlie/Guile, etc.

They want a diverse roster with characters that stand out as individuals so that the gameplay is fun and that characters that deserve a slot in the game because of their unique powers, skills, abilities, get their time to shine, so NO shotos/palette swap characters for MvC3.
They have limited character slots, over 30, and let's say Sakura, Ken, Dan, and Akuma are in the game, that's four clones that are taking up space from four more deserving characters like Jedah Juri, Mike Haggar, X, or any other character that would add something new and unique to the roster.

I just hope they go ahead and confirm if Spider Man and Captain Commando is in the game so me and 1000000 others would be happy lol. It would be weird with no Captain Commando because he is capcom's actual super hero type- even more than Ryu who's a fighter not a super hero type. And if they see the three characters he call out to help is an issue, they could simply just remove them because he's already has cool moves of his own and give him a different super.

All I want to say is, that I hope at least one of these three characters are in between Seth, Gill, and Urien been looking forward for Capcom to put one of them in. Imagine a beefed up Regis Reflector reflecting Iron Man's Proton Cannon beam right back at him lol. Or Gill using his powerful Ice/fire ball and his powerful moves or Seth using his interesting moves as well. Plus none of those characters have been in a real crossover yet.

Street fighter alpha series(as a whole)=adon

I really hope that they add Storm to the list, she was a very popular character in the game, and I would like to see how she will do now that you wont be able to run away and build energy up. Also there is debate on weather she is or isnt in because of what Seth Killian said. He didn't confirm her hungry fans are reading to deep into his statement. I really think she will be in the because they hit 2 birds with one stone by adding her. The obviouse first is she would be the tolkn black, and second many gay people loooove and live for fighting games like no other demographic and many gays looove Storm. Therefore it would only make sense that she would be in. Personally I liked wolverine the most, but I did play storm occasionally.....

I Personally think that they should only have unique & original moveset characters such as character like Magneto & Thanos from MvC2! because I'm fed up of seeing kage bushin shotokan characters in every capcom vs game!, it needs to stop. they should looking through their archives and pull out characters like Samanosuke akechi from onimusha thats what I think!

I think Marvel needs to add Blade!!! He would be a sword based character and use his other weapons as well. They should go ahead and announce Cyclops and Captain Commando if they are in the game for the next announcement. The game would be awkward without those two iconic heroes. After that I have my team.
Other cool characters are Seth,Bionic Commando, Urien, Bishop, Gill, and Storm would be cool to add in the game. Bionic Commando would sort of be a good replacement for Omega Red.

I do agree that Sandman and Doc Ock would be fun characters, although it may be hard to not make Sandman a total beast since he would like dodge every attack. I think that even though he's dead now, the Sentry might be cool, theres not really anyone else on here like him (besides maybe Thor). Antman (Hank Pym) could be a cool change also

Apocalypse would be awesome in this game and he would be the perfect replacement for Sentinel. He doesn't have to be some giant character like he was, but his basic usual size or he could be as tall as Sentinel. He's been in 2 games but never playable in his usual size.

has anyone ever thought about Apocalypse as a playable character. The MSH v S doesn't count as him being playable. That would definitely please X-men Fans!!! Storm, Song Bird, Cyclops, Wolverine, Magneto, and Apocalypse would be the perfect cast of X-men!!! If I had a vote between Phoenix Wright and Apocalypse it would easily be Apocalypse. Plus Apocalypse would be a perfect replacement for Sentinel.

fei long could have a hyper combo ending in the stomp that bruce lee uses on o'hara in enter the dragon.
Night crawler should move very quickly, use his tail, weild a rapier, double jump and have alot of teleport moves (other characters who teleport, teleport, he should have super moves based on it.
Ms. Marvel would hit kind of hard, she can fly, blast energy, and can use it to replicate the soul sattelite move from rose in ssf4.

Capcom, I've just got one question: WHY ARE YOU IGNORING THE POWER STONE FRANCHISE AGAIN?! MVC3 would've been the perfect game to include one of your most popular franchises in the mix! Falcon would've been an obvious choice as he is the main character of the series. Just ONE character would've made your die-hard fans happy. But no, you slap us in the face yet again. You gave the Okami fans something to jump for joy over, so why not the Power Stone fans?! Falcon is FROM a FIGHTING game, his moveset wouldn't have been THAT hard to create! Certainly would've been easier than most of the other characters. You've got a loyal fan base behind that franchise, and you continue to ignore them. Frustrating...Just frustrating...
On a brighter note, I'm happy to see that the mighty Thor made the cut! In his best appearance, might I add. As a fan of the Norse God of Thunder, I'm looking forward to bashing people's heads in with Mjolnir!

@#91: it would be cool if when rouge drained her opponents power she gained one of they're signature moves, at the cost of losing one of her own. Ex: kissing Ryu would allow her to use hadokens, but she would lose her dash punches OR allow her to use a shoryuken, but lose her diving fist....... although to do that for every other character may be to "intricate" to ask of from the MvC3 developers.

My predictions for the next announcements in the TGS:
Capcom
i) Frank West
ii) C.Viper
MARVEL
i) Spider-man (regular costume, maybe with the symbiote to unblock in the game. It would be great).
ii) Storm or Ms. Marvel: It's obvious that Marvel needs to show a female character. Currently, the 9 characters we know are males. I don't think She-hulk will be in the game, my bet is for these two and a third one, but not mutant or X-girl, maybe Elektra or Black Widow (don't forget that she's on fashion now thanks to the Iron Man movies with the Scarlet Johansson role, and she is going to appear in the next Avengers movie, Marvel needs to launch the character).

On a slightly serious note, I have an objection to Phoenix Wright being in the game. He's a lawyer: they don't win any fights unless they're arguing the innocence of a murderous ex-football star (lol Johnny Cochran could be an alt costume for Wright though).
On a more serious note, Why is Guile not in the list of revealed characters? Someone needs to balance out the likely suckage Chun Li will wield...

@#110 Superman is DC, he could be awesome in a capcom fighter, however, this is not possible because capcoms commitment to Marvel and Marvel is more popular (not to an incredible degree, but more is more) and wealthier.

Hit-Girl won't make it for the same reason that The Punisher won't. Too hardcore. I mean yeah, Deadpool has had more limbs cut off/cut off more limbs than many Marvel characters, but his character isn't really BASED in that like Hit-Girl and Punisher.
I wish Iron Fist would make it in. And Moon Knight. I mean Capcom wants obscure, right? Those are great characters who are obscure. But based on how things have been going, they seem to be thinking more like: "Who do they want in? Daredevil? Tell them no ...and give them MODOK! Ask US for a cool popular character who people will recognize, will they? We'll show THEM! Next up, Howard the Duck!!"
And then they just fill out the rest of the cast with more of the same from the last game. Storm, Magneto, Sentinel, yeah that sounds fun. Can't wait to see even MORE of that mirror match.
But for me, two characters would be all it takes to make up for this.
Captain Commando and Gambit.

Some people like Moon Knight. Like me. But the point I was trying to make was that he's obscure, which Capcom wants, AND he's an actual fist-fighting character. Which of course works against him since Capcom has been putting out characters like (again) MODOK. He's a giant freaking face in a can with tiny arms and legs that he barely uses! What part of that translates to "fighting game character" to you?
With Shuma-Gorath its a bit more understandable since
1. He's got usable limbs.
2. He's an awesome Doc Strange villain with cosmic powers.
It doesn't make THAT much more sense, but enough to be an understandable addition to the roster.
Seriously though, Iron Fist. Martial Artist Super Hero who is quite obscure to casual comic readers, let alone Capcom fans? How is he not PERFECT?

ok i understand Shuma and Iron Fist, i just have a personal bias against Moon Knight so sorry about that lol and its sucks that there won't be Gambit or Dr. Strange or Ghost Rider...if Capcom wants obscure, Venom (he was no where near the same as Spider-Man), Green Goblin or Hobgoblin (low-flying hoverboard and bombs with different properties), and Luke Cage (multiple fist and chain combos and a few command grabs). that's all.

None of those characters you listed are "Obscure" (except Hobgoblin). Venom is an extremely well known and highly popular character. Plus along with Green Goblin he has stared in one of the most successful super-hero movie franchises. Luke Cage is a huge player in the marvel world who 97% of marvel comic readers would know.
Obscure characters are characters even big time comic fans might not know much about, like Dormammu.

My question is why the hell is Capcom avoiding character familiarity on the Marvel side? We get FAR less nostalgia this way, seeing as so many casual comic readers and even hardcore comic readers won't really get WHY characters like Dormammu would be in the game rather than a more recognizable character.

Dormammu is not an obscure character. So saying "big time comic fans" might not know much about him is oxymoronic. In this moment, in best of cases (40 characters, which I seriously doubt) we have only 5 Marvel characters left.
In my opinion, the best roster would include:
- Black Panther (classic Avenger and marvel hero, nº 1 black superhero, Wakanda, he's on fashion on Avergers animated and the new man withot fear. Do you want more?)
- Moon Knight (one of the favourites "non-top" superheros, impressive look, amazing weapons and complex character)
- Storm (seems she's a must have, top's MVC2 character, leader of X-men, marvel female -currently we have only two)
- Green Goblin ( classic supervillain and now the most important in the Marvel universe. Sensational look and weapons, great moveset with his glider, pumpkins and bats. Spidey deserves one of his most powerful foes in the game.)
-The number 5 could be Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye or Iceman.
-To be honest, I don't understand the election of Shuma-Gorath for DLC. Maybe nexts DLC in the future will be the most wanted characters by fans and deconfirmed : Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Cyclops, Gambit, Dr. Strange (two main enemies in game), Psylocke...

According to many links and information that I've read, it seems that 3 of the last 4 characters for the Marvel side are quite clear :
Storm, Ms. Marvel and Taskmaster.
There is a lot of different opinions about the fourth one. I wish the Green Goblin was the final big surprise !

You have to realize, though, that you're part of a small minority on this. Personally, my favorite setup was MVC2. I also liked TVC and yeah, back in the day, just like everyone else, I played (and liked) the old 6 attack setup. But to me MVC2 captured a balance between simplicity and advanced control, allowing not only quicker decision making and easier controls for newbies, but a still useful setup for advanced players. Just look at how much tournament play MVC2 gets.
Either way, if MVC3 really does have alternate control options, I'm psyched! I'd love to be able to choose!

Yeah, I used to have a great time playing X-Men Vs. Street Fighter in the old arcades. In fact, that's still one of my favorite arcade games. But things change, and not everybody is gonna be happy. I sincerely hope that Capcom makes all the old control styles available, but if not, then that's just how it is.
Sometimes you can't change it. Sometimes you can. But right now, with MVC3 being so close around the corner, I just don't see them changing much. It's nearly a completed game, and it all comes down to what they've already decided. Making a plea right now wouldn't change much. I already had to accept that with Strider. But at least take solace in the idea that since we don't know anything about what the final release is gonna be like, there's always hope.
It's not over until it's over. Until then, just hope that they made the right choices. Afterward, there's always DLC and updates.

I could careless for da demo really; i'd rent the game, and return it if it sucks. Well, we all know that wont be the case.
I'd prefer the MvC2 controls over the simplified and the 6-button. However, I'll be fine with any configure they decide to input; let's just pray for variety.

That seems to be the case, but I still think Cat should list the other revealed characters here, just without making them link to a move list/strategy page until more is known.
Maybe even put an asterisk next to ones without guides explaining the situation. Then at least there would be an easy to find page on Eventhubs of all the characters revealed, and he could update it as it goes along.

ooo, we're talking bout teams now are we? I personally cannot make up my mind. There are just so many characters i want to use. Morrigan is a must for me since i've always liked her play style since...well darkstalkers of course :P Definitely gonna have to try out Wesker. Using his teleportation for mind games sounds fun. I just cant pick a 3rd member though...so many choices. Felicia for her low hitting assist? Viper for her overhead assist? Possibly Joe for being strange? I just dont know...

@215: At this point, the only other characters to make a return from MvC 2 would be Sentinel, M. Bison or Akuma, & Megaman.
As much as I want Juggernaut to appear in MvC 3, him & the rest of the characters from MvC 2 that haven't been chosen yet have a VERY, very slim to none chance of appearing in this game.

Oh I know what you mean... getting towards the end here... but I still have faith Juggs will be in. They could be saving him and Sentinel for the final reveal because they are worth it.
I would also think Bison would be a much better pick over Akuma.

M. Bison would be pretty awesome, especially in this exaggerated visual style. Plus, his Hyper Psycho Crusher would look amazing. I hope he's in, but that Akuma picture just looks so damn real. I hope he's in too, so I can see the new Gou Rasen (my favorite super in SF3).
But overall, there is ALWAYS hope as long as DLC is an option.
If Capcom really wants to go the whole ten in pleasing their fans, they'll hold polls for DLC characters.
Either way, though, this game is gonna take you for a ride.

I think that the controls are customizable.
So you might be able to set it to MVC2 style with four attack buttons.
But yeah that's basically how it works, I think. In MVC2 you had 4 attack buttons but could (with some characters) perform six hit chain combos.
Like with Strider you could hit lp lk lp lk hp hk and get a full six hit chain.
So yeah, that sounds about right.

@221: No chance in hell would they have most of the remaining characters from MvC2 as DLC in this game. That will take a lot of time & energy into doing so (in which it'll take like, many, many months to do). Besides, this is MvC3, not MvC 2.5. It's not supposed to be mugen like MvC2. It's time for new characters to shine.
And characters like Cammy & Sakura, don't count on that happening.

And the name "Deadpool" is from when he was part of the Weapon X Program but since his healing powers are so unstable he is considered a failure and is sent to a place with other failed superhumans where the patients have a "deadpool" where they bet on how long the others would survive.

Sorry Eventhubs/Catalyst - always loved your site. However SRK put the final nail in the coffin - for me at least. They have a much bigger, better, more in depth guide up now for all their games, including MvC. This includes video's and expert analyse.
They don't just cover Capcom but other big series like KoF, Tekken, MK, BB. They took a page put of your book and added submit a tip, which may not be new but it's more prompt now.

A: Wolverine/Akuma/Taskmaster
B: V.Joe/Zero/Arthur
C: Morrigan/Haggar/Tron
I've also found Chris to be ungodly in individual combo length and damage.
A simple one-hyper combo with him can take off almost an entire standard healthbar, although it does require good timing.

You know what it is about MvC3? It's this years Metroid Other M. Remember when that game came out, how some people thought it was Ok, but other just flat out HATED it? It's the same with this game, but with Other M, people hated that because of the characterization of Samus. People hated MvC3 because of the gameplay, they think it's broken, cheap, and sometime just stupid. And to those people I say SHUT UP!!! MvC3 is awesome, it's fast paced, over the top, and just plan fun. Sure there are a few things I would've done to it (personally I would rather have liked to of seen Cable in the game instead of Sentinel) but it just great at the end of the day. Sure Mortal Kombat might have more bells on it, but the most important part of any game is the game play, and after playing the demo, MvC3 is more fun to play then MK9 (IMO of course).

I've played the MK9 demo a bunch and I find it to sluggish and I'm not really into the MK lour as much as I am with Capcom and Marvel. Plus, does Test your Luck and Konquest really had anything to the game play of MK9? There is a difference between I think it's total garbage and I like MvC3 better. Like I said, IMO (In My Opinion). hello everyone, i am new to this site and decided to make an account because i love all the MVC games!!!! especially the arcade games. The only problem with MVC2 is that it was on the ps2!!!worst controller ever!!!
Anyways, i think amingo would be a great DLC character. He really doesnt need much part in the story because he can just be a follower in the story and game. Who wouldnt want to play as some big green cactus lol. also doctor octopus for marvle would be fun. Those are 2 high detailed characters that would be fun to play as

MvC3 totally escaped the context of the worst games released recently, do not resemble the previous ones, is an easy game, anyone who ever heard of a cross, a ride any time and is capable of beating anyone with years of experience, is far from being a game for the hardcore, MK9 without a doubt the best release (IMO), without taking the fact that watching a game at a high level of MvC3 is at least tedious, would not be for less, right? which already gives the impression that all do the same things, too repetitive ... has the complexity of Mvc2

marvel vs capcom 3 has brought newcomers to the vs games which is what every one should aim for otherwise its selfish.
every one is fed up of playing street fighter online and getting batterd.
the more people who buy and play the game will mean they will keep the franchise grow stronger and better and possibly bring in more DLC (characters) in which MVC3 needs.
this game is probably the best fighting i've played as i can play it with new comers and still have a competitive match and they can enjoy just as much as i do.

mvc3 brings comic book fans to the gaming franchise as MVC2 did for me.
marvel fans are gunna purely like this game because were love the characters, why we embrace them.
trust me, new comers brings more content, trust me, i know this. even if you think there terrible or a disgrace to fighting games, the making them bigger.
Iv'e always loved street fighter and mortal kombat ect...... but i think the more more the merrier. you bring more people to these games, the better they become,i mean wat is wrong with some of you people, this is the way the media works. surly you would want to encourage people to play these games rather then were all just a bunch of nerds that wants only there own kind to play these games, this is what capcom is aiming for in MVC3, to bring in new people, and i've played against new comers with me playing in normal fighting mode and them playing simple mode, and they've been hooked since, whats so wrong with that!
i say i want to see more games like this. this is a breakthrough in fighting games.
i didnt write this to piss people off, i just wanted to make a point. i love vs games and i want to make them expand even more. i love capcom vs games especially, they have never let me down, they are the professionals so just let them do what they do best without putting them down,

The dude above me. Why did you say any of that to me. I never said anything about new comers or old schoolers. What I commented on was all the bashing of this game when people do not even understand the game mechanics. Then they wonder why they get caught up so easy. I like this game. Just wish the community would stop crying and start playing. As for the street fighter III comment. That was more or less for people to suck it up and learn a good counter game. SFIII just happens to have the hardest counter attack game out of all the fighters I have ever played.

Phoenix Wright is from the Capcom series Phoenix Wright on the NDS. You play a defence attorney where you look for clues at crime scenes and present your findings in court. It's quite fun! I've only played the first though.
Virgil is Dantes twin and is therefore a part of the Devil May Cry series. He appears as Nelo Angelo in the first Devil May Cry game and it would be very cool to have him turn into Nelo Angelo but I somehow doubt it.

okay crazy but stick with me here what if we do see a little of megaman in umvc3. we all know frank west is set to be in the game. well in dead rising "frank west game" if you complete the right achivements you can full complete an imitation megaman outfit with megablaster but you cant charge it so not fully megaman. but what if the developers have decided to put some sort of megaman cameo like " you wanted him so bad heres a little bit of him. frank could probably have a hyper same as chris where he uses various guns. well frank uses anything he could get his hands on but what if they finish the hyper with a big megaman blast to the face. i know its a long shot but heres hoping for all the fans that wanna see any of megaman in umvc3. longshot but it would be a cool compramise you could say and a badass hyper.

Gambit has no right 2B in this game, Gambit has no rite 2B in marvel anymore period. He's only seen when Cyclops calls on him 2make an appearance or when X-23 is ordering him around. And half of U that wanted Venom can't even tell me Venom's name or how he'd B any different than Spidy or Deadpool in this game.

But anyway, most of U on here kno very lil' about marvel, and R still stuck on past marvel chars from MvC2. I ask U 2please read a comic, a database, go 2 borders/barnes & noble or something &help educate urselfs on Marvel. Magneto & Storm aren't hand 2hand fighters, I don't care how great they were in all the vs games. And Cyclops is a great hand 2hand fighter, he's not just a shoto.
Just imagine who U could've been playing in this game and who'd U'd like 2C in the next marvel.

Idk why people complain about Ken being a Shoto when Vergil plays similar to Dante, a lot of people have projectiles, everyone Punches each other. So what if people have the same thing to any extent. Ken would have different Hypers and properties. I can easily see the three of them taking down the rest of the cast. Esp with Ryu's new found power... Now just waiting to hear in this game: "This Hado, it grants me power. Incredible Power!" lol Evil Ryu for UMVC3 ver.2014 FTW

Let us pray that Capcom atleast tries to treat UMVC3 like a modern fighting game. Let us pray that they offer new stages and characters as DLC. Let us pray that they offer these DLC in two ways, individually and packaged. Let us pray that they create new modes for both online play as well as local single/multiplayer. And most importantly let us pray that Capcom no longer sells us an update in the form of a new game.

Also if anyone has an extra 360 and Monitor/TV please bring it to speed up the tournament because we are sharing the store space with P-Lay. The standard system we are using for the tournament is PS3, so if you play 360 we have a converter but it may cause button lag. In regards this button lag Team INSO and P-Lay staff will try to assist each player in making their tournament experience an enjoyable one. So we are allowed to use P-Lay's 360 as a last resort. Be sure to talk to Trevon Inso Wickliffe after the tournament and before to let us know what you would like to see as the next tournament.
