Unlock character and mini game guide for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

Unlocking hidden characters

Unlockable Fighter Requirements
Frank West Beat the game with 3 different Capcom characters
Tekkaman Blade Beat the game with 3 different Tatsunoko characters
Zero Beat the game with 6 different Capcom characters
Joe The Condor Beat the game with 6 different Tatsunoko characters
Yatterman No. 2 Complete Arcade Mode with Joe the Condor, Zero, Tekkaman Blade and Frank West

The character who lands to finishing blow on the last boss is considered to be the fighter you beat the game with, your partner is not factored in as far as unlock requirements are concerned.

A way to quickly beat Arcade mode multiple times is to go into the settings and change the difficulty to Easy, damage as high as it will go and start out with full Hyper Combo meter. This will shave off some time at least.

Unlocking TvC Ultimate All-Shooters mini-game

After you beat the final boss, press a button during the credits. It'll change the music and begin a playable credit sequence with Doronjo and her minions on a bike.

While this sequence plays through, collect all of the yellow letters. It will spell out "THANK YOU FOR PLAYING". When you complete the bike sequence, it unlocks the TvC Ultimate All-Shooters mini-game.

Apparently after you beat the game with Roll, you can play as her on a broom during this sequence instead.

Unlocking extra costume colors

Beat Arcade Mode with a specific character to unlock costume colors 3 and 4. You must buy them in the Shop after wards.

Supposedly to unlock color 3 you need to hit the deliver the killing blow to the game's mini boss, Gold Lightan or PTX-40A. Landing the killing blow to Yami will unlock costume color 3.

@shinkey!

word is that you have to beat the game with the four unlockables to get yatterman #2.

anyone know if the unlocked colors correspond to where the member is on your team? I've had weird effects with this, like usually #3 for one member and #4 on the other member will be unlocked, though sometimes I can run through someone as my primary member twice but still both colors?

Also the shop doesn't show what you've already purchased, so this makes color collecting a bit of a pain.

You get the colors from beating the game with said character only to buy it at the store

Nobody likes having to unlock CHARACTERS in a FIGHTING game.

I have no problem with having to unlock characters as long as it doesn't take an eternity.

Beating the game with 6/7 characters of each side? Goddammit

For some reason I am looking forward to this one as well. My question is that I got the Wii mostly for my 6 year old son. (he loves Wii sports and Mario games) I have a SP3 fightstick ($69 one) would that be compatible for the Wii with USB port?

I don't get why Yatterman No. 2 is the very last one to unlock. What's so special about her?
:/

RE colors:

If Yami kills off your partner, it looks like they don't get their color. To maximize your earns, make sure both characters stay alive.

Colors: I have also recieved a color for a character NOT used in the fional battle. E.G. I ran thru the game with 2 characters (Karas and Chun), Lost at the final battle, Switched to Chun and Soki, Beat the game (Final hit by Chun), and Got credit for beating the game with chun, but got one of Karas' colors (@ work now...forget which). The character you use dueing the bulk of arcade methinks plays into the colors unlock.

Do we get any of the other mini-games they showed?
Like the Ryu one? Casshan Dog Racing one?

@DESU: I missed the first "A" too. And the credits are so long.

I think the costumes seem a bit expensive that also getting 2 for each character 2 million zennys? haha

Posted by Spawn on January 28, 2010 at 8:45 p.m. #25

Oh and by the way it is much easier to do Roll's credit ending then Doronjo's credit ending mini game, since you have to just fly the broom pretty much in the middle the whole time. I got it on my first try, because unlocking it through Doronjo's credit ending felt annoying.

Posted by the reason on January 29, 2010 at 7 a.m. #26

the reason yatterman-2 is the last unlock character is because she's hella fuggin good. borderline broken.

Posted by gamblerZ on January 31, 2010 at 12:29 a.m. #27

Is there some simple way or trick to unlocking the mini game cause the credits are long as hell and i keep missing like one freaking letter. I press the jump button and the game has me jump seconds after i press it or i don't jump at all so i miss it. Anyone else have this problem?

Posted by Spawn on January 31, 2010 at 1:25 p.m. #28

@ gamblerZ

Refer to my comment up above. Beat the final boss as Roll and do the ending credits with her.

Posted by Tenorfighter on February 1, 2010 at 10 p.m. #29

So Roll will jsut fly on the broom so you don't have to worry about jumping? That would be so much easier IMO. The timing on the jumping just doesn't seem right.

thank you!!!!

Posted by Colossus on February 2, 2010 at 2:24 p.m. #31

@gamblerz

The way i did it was with roll. Stay in the top left corner, time it and let her drop on the letter. She has a better range then just trying to get the letter head on. It only took me about 3 times with this technique. All-Shooters is awesome. Reminds me of Contra

Posted by Spawn on February 3, 2010 at 2:54 p.m. #32

@ Tenorfighter

Yes it is much more easier to do the ending credits with roll because you just have to press the a button and make her fly so she doesn't go down the screen.
